She's about to...51

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We came from here.

Time for another room. Show us what is blooming please?

I had one sunflower come up, from the birds. I guess they dropped a seed!

This is White Swan. I will be sharing her this fall.

We have a few volunteer Sunflowers too, LK. I noticed one just starting to open yesterday.

Here's my haul from the Round-Up that includes a variegated Shefflera, several EE's and Philodendrons. Most are from trades, but since I was the last one to leave the shelter I didn't have the heart to leave any plants behind. If you change your mind about the Shefflera, Faye, let me know and you can have it.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Great haul Susan. Thanks for the offer, lol but no plants for any other room except sun room and that is full.
Susan, thank you so much for all you did to make the RU a great success. I loved being there and for anyone who has never been to a RU....it is well worth saving for the trip. Do hope Ray and I can go to Kentucky. I have been on that thread and checked out the location. Sure looks and sounds like a super weekend.
I'm in just trying to cool off to avoid a heat stroke. Been outside most all day....most of the Anna Daylilies are in the ground, but got so hot felt sick. Came in @ 2:25 and I'm going back out @ 3.
Love and hugs!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Drink lots of water Faye, we don't need you getting sick!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

I can relate to you Faye. Worked all morning out there and then got rained on which turned things into a real sauna. It seems more like August than the end of June.

Thumbnail by rvnsbrk
Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

You take it easy, Faye, and duck in that outside shower when you need to cool off, or better yet come inside. If you decide to go to the KY Round-Up, would you mind if I hitch a ride with you? Hubby wanted to know why I had the Atlas open today looking at a map of KY...lol

Hey, our local news just said it's supposed to cool off Wednesday & Thursday and only be in the mid-80's. We haven't had any substantial rain since June 4th, never saw it either since we were on vacation, and I don't count that 10 minute shower 2 weeks ago that just steamed everything up worse than it already was. Well I was pretty much a slug today -- planted more Sunflower, Zinnia and Marigold seeds, potted the Caladiums that didn't have any takers at the RU, got so hot just pulling the hose to water for 2 hours this morning and weeded off and on.

Oh yeah, I had to stop and pick up Kitty Shadow's kittens about a 100 times. Here's her litter of 4 born on Round-Up Day!

Thumbnail by FruitOfTheVine
Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Let's back up and punt. We just had a T-storm and a beautiful rain that dropped the temp down to 83. That's our norm this time of year instead of scorching heat near 100.....ahhh it feels so cool and refreshing outside, just wish it would stay this way.

We've lived here 16-1/2 years and I've only seen a double rainbow once before tonight.

Thumbnail by FruitOfTheVine
Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Beautiful rainbow Susan, oops, i mean Grandma Susan. The kitties are so cute, but that Mama is precious.
I would be tickled pink if we could go to the RU together, but in checking about the dogs, $50. for the 1st then 25. for the second..no way would we do that. We got excited about it being in KY because
R has a brother in KY. Another boomer.....RU and Brother are over 200 miles apart. Think I know how a balloon fills when pricked with a pin.
Got all of Annas lily clumps divided into smaller clumps , labeled and planted. Also planted 3 from my favorite FruitOfTheVine. Have the remainder of RU haul to work on tomorrow. Could not have stayed outside if I hadn't had crushed ice and the water hose. Oh , and the hall shower was a great reward when I quit @ 5.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beutiful kitties and double rainbow. That means double the luck for you!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

You had a full hot day, Faye. If we don't make it to the KY Round-Up this year, there's always next year. Iowa's is another multi-day whoop-ti-do too.

I'd love nothing more than for us to have another RU here this Fall or next Spring / Summer, whenever everyone can get together again suits me just fine. It goes without saying everyone here's invited to attend!

I've heard that too, LK. If I could just find that pot of Gold at the end of the rainbow...or two in this case, I'd be set for life...LOL Wishful thinking but in reality, what else keeps us going besides our dreams?

Who else loves Tiger Lilies? I have several my neighbor gave me last year and will be glad to send any of you seeds before they hit the ground.

Thumbnail by FruitOfTheVine
(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Oh cute kitties!! I know it is hot and humid and you guys gotta be careful out there. I sure like that double rainbow!
You got some really nice tropicals there, Susan. Very nice!
wow I planted some tiger lilly seeds last year, but they never did anything. Are ya spose to do somthing special to them?
My Daughter came over with my GS tonight for home made lasagna and strawberry surprise cake for her "belated Birthday" (39th) and we had such a nice time, I loaded her up with all the colour pots I put together for her and gave her the pendulas pink log brug that has two shoots on it, she already has successfully overwintered a cutting from peach versi and it is going good for her, I am so happy that all those huge tubs of plants and the vines and things I have been growing for her are in her care now. She flitted around my yard with her phone camera taking pictures, and kept going back to the datura inoxia bloom bud opening and taking pictures as it opened, and I explained the difference between devils trumpet and angels trumpets and now she has a triple purple I grew from seed and three white singles and well I am so glad she acted like she was thrilled to death. I warned her it will be worse when the japanese morning glorys start blooming and the brugs start budding, she will use her phone camera memory up. :)
I hated not being able to do this last Monday but I was in such pain. Her suv was loaded up. she and GS loaded it and I just said this is yours and this is yours and you said you wanted colour and big right? Oh! this one is yours too LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like you have another one addicted to the plant world! Is she on DG yet?

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Fruitcake I love tiger lilies. Can you start them for me and then give them to me when they are plants?? :0) Just kidding..

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Afternoon guys, I am sending you a cooler front. It is beautiful here, no humidity, with a breeze, oh to be home! I did the next best thing and went to the hosta "farm" that is all he sells and he has tons, course I bought for a friend and can't even steal any of these...rofl.

Disappointed, I was toying with idea of KY, if you two were going to try and show up.......I hear IA has a really nice one, seems like it is 3 days and held on a lake. Someone was telling me all about, but from NC that is quite a drive...LOL

Boarding dogs can get quite expensive, I have 4 now......

This is one of my fav daylilies from Colliers Garden (daylily place I went) it is still there and I still have 25.00 in my pocket....rofl.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is a beautiful color!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

that is gorgeous Joyce. eye popping!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

OMG happ, I've had my eye on Primal Scream since last July and it's on my list to pick up at the daylily farm this Fall when it's marked down to 1/2 price. Her regular price is $25 too. What was the name of the other D/L you liked so much? I know you posted it's name somewhere but just can't put my finger on the thread. What a great shot with your new camera!

I'd love to attend KY or Iowa's RU's one of these years. I think both are 3 days. Since several folks expressed interest in attending another South Central VA Round-Up, I opened a new thread tonight:
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1112197/

Gosh I'd love nothing better than for all of us to meet. Wouldn't we be one big bunch of happy campers....lol

well, my Asiatic StarGazers are opening, do they count as Day lillys? other than Kansas Ditch Lillys, a few noids from tropicman, a few noids from RU and a few Easter Lillys, Stella de Oro , and some cool red ones, I really do not know Day Lillys.

Thumbnail by joeswife
Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

The other daylily that everyone seemed to like was radiation biohazard and for some reason I didn't take a pic of it.
Susan I like so many daylilies I can't remember what I posted....rofl.
One I bought was something orchid, a spider, I looked at the name last night and dang if I can remember it again....
This is so me, I thought I had a daylily that was just stunted, I didn't realize they have small daylilies, like small hosta's....duh! He was showing us a planting of the little guys, they were cuties...rofl. So now I need to move my little guy into a better spot, now he is amongest a bunch of giants and looks way out of place....rofl.

Deb, you don't have daylilies? I will have to cure that problem for you....rofl. I have several I need to divide that are growing against a concrete wall and will send them when I send the lily. Don't get me wrong I love my lilies also....don't want them to feel unloved....

This is something orchid...rofl that I bought.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Are all those Brugs?

That was it, happ! something Biohazard..lol That one's not available locally or I'd scarf one up for you 1/2 price this fall. Ohh that's a nice lavender one.

Debra, I'll be glad to share Daylilies this Fall with you too. When I began my perennial garden last year, they were the 1st plants I added, guess it helps to have a local D/L farm close by. I'm just getting into Oriental and Asiatic Lilies, DH just loves them, I do too and so many smell heavenly.

"Tomato Soup" Coneflower...

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

That post is a bad addiction...LOL like none of the others are addictions....rofl.

Radiation bio-hazard he only had for display meaning he didn't have enough to sell yet, so I don't know a price. This is what one site said Quote: RADIATION BIOHAZARD
37” Diploid M Dor 8-9” (Gossard, J. 2000) Awarded Honorable Mention in 2005 by the AHS
Quite possibly the result of a mutated laboratory accident, Radiation Biohazard is an unusual bicolored maroon and yellow crispate with a striking yellow midrib. Colors are reminiscent of the Radiation Biohazard signs seen in medical research laboratories. The sturdy scapes are 4 way branched with a good bud count of 26. An easy parent, fertile both ways. Has produced one of my best kids.(Spiral Charmer x Charmer)(Morman Spider x Pat Thornton)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Fruity, I HAVE to Have that coneflower.. You know I have a collection of those already started, but my lime cone did not come back *sigh*
As soon as all those brugs bloom and I have pictures to show to the donors who sent them to me, I am de arming them and sending them off to those who want them, as I am not going to be able to bring them in whole again like I did last year. The Dr said NO!
* sniff sniff whine*

Asters are popping open already.. they are Early!!

Thumbnail by joeswife
Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

So Debra, you gonna take cuttings and bring in from the brugs? You really need to take care of your back, you are way too young and a long time to go with that back. Think how fun it will be bringing up all those little ones...LOL
Debra we won't have any fall flowers blooming around here cause they are all blooming now, or we will have second blooms? Hope what few annuals I get keep going, along with the tropicals, cause the perennials are just way confused!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Love the flowers! That tomato soup is so pretty. Never seen one like that! I thought asters bloomed in the fall?

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Hope the asters aren't trying to tell us something! yikes! Yes they usually bloom at the end of summer but everything is blooming here early. We went from 60 to 90 we shouldn't of hit 90 until middle of July and we were doing it as early as 1st of June so everything is messed up. I actually saw those little trees along the road that turn red in the fall already turning, what is the name of those things, they are small and have cut leaves.....dang

I have okras on the brugs...yeah! Can't wait.

Here is a cool daylily I saw at the gardens. Look at the varigation.

Thumbnail by happgarden
Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Hey, you bruggies....LOL
Cat is doing a coop for pure neem oil if anyone is interested.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Well uhm, I like that varigated one too!
I still have a big ol bottle of neem oil from last years co-op. It will last me five years I think.
ELIZABETH BLOOMED ONE FLOWER AGAIN AND THEN IT GOT FRIED BY THE SUN.
I am not happy. *sigh*
Yeal, I am going to take real good care of my back. I have to. I do not have any discs or pads left and the only way for that part of my back to stretch is to crack. I am so disgusted. I can't even weed with running water , since it hurts to bend over. All my asters are budded and blooming, all the Monardas and daiseys are drying up, I am going to cut back alot this weekend so they can start over.I didn't invest in alot of annuals. Just alot of brugs LOL

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Oh but Debra, when those brugs take off wowzer!
Course your neighbors may think a perfume factory blew up at night...LOL
I don't do many annuals either.

Just to hear about your back makes me wiggle. You really do need to watch it. You have a very long life left and sure don't want to be crippled up.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Isabella is about to.....

Thumbnail by joeswife
Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

You guys make me so jealous with your blooms and different varieties of plants. I think I have pretty blooms, but mine never match yours. And, on top of being envious, I'm greedy. I want one of every one I see. So glad God forgives.
Deb, I'm so sorry I goofed in the first posting of your Brugs. I hope the mistake is fixed now. Please take care of your back...wish I were closer, I love working in flowers, and would love being your gardener for a day.
Love and Hugs
Faye

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wish we were all closer too. Oh that would get us into so much trouble! Hubbies woiuld never get fed, house would never get cleaned...
My very first brug was from JanLynn two years ago, and that one got me hooked. I immediately went in search of more brugs, and that is how I found you guys. Thanks to everyone that is so thoughtfull, and generous for sharing your plants. I have bought a few from ebay, but they don't do well. I even bought some from eddie dwayne, and they are struggling. Just don't know why. Maybe they don't like to suffer in the hot mailboxes in this Texas heat?
Hope you all have a great day.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Some of my Asters and Mums are blooming. Is that crazy or what?

The Coneflowers I have are:
Tomato Soup (pic above)
Tiki Torch
Hot Lava
Milkshake

Will save seedheads for all of you. Faye, that was a Purple Coneflower at Lowe's that day :)

Oh I just got Paradoxa from Bluestone but probably won't see blooms til next year.

Milkshake has a double tuft.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

This one's Hot Lava.

Thumbnail by FruitOfTheVine
Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

And Tiki Torch.

Take care of yourself, Debra. What if you had a few tall raised beds, like tabletop height? They may not be feasible for everything, but at least at waist-high you wouldn't have to bend. We have a friend in a wheelchair and that's how she's able to raise her veggies.

Thumbnail by FruitOfTheVine
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Try the strawbales next year. I have heard they work pretty good.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Debra, I saw my first grasshopper! Not good.
Well rain has stopped, ground is cracked, so I am watering, this week has been beautiful, suppose to rain the 4th the last I heard, the poor kiddos, that is always disappointing when that happens.
