Thanks. He is a love. I was just embarrassed because I have been cutting his long hair with scissors and he looks awful. He is cooler - but not his handsome self. How is Crash doing these days?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Fine, thanks. Was very happy when we got home from Disney yesterday. He's been extra mushy!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

aawwww hope Sampson feels better!!!

Thomaston, CT

Hugs to Samson.....

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Sampson is at the vets with Dr. Vickie right now. Of course he was feeling MUCH better this morning but still not producing enough urine. Of course there are 7 cat boxes at my house and lots of other places to use in an emergency or spite... The estimate was $594 - but Dr. Vickie really tries to make things reasonable, so it will still be a lot - but worth every penny and I will have a baseline blood panel for him as he is 11 and it is time to do that before he becomes a real senior citizen.

I had to tell them that I've been trying to save money by cutting his long, Maine Coon Cat hair with scissors and he looks really funky. (Shaving him is $85 - more than I pay for a hair cut!) Didn't want them to think he was the victim of cat abuse or losing his fur or biting at it.

Thomaston, CT

Wow.....I just paid $220 at the vet, & I gulped!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I spent $136 last night to make sure he wasn't plugged up. Better than the previous visit where it turned out that he was just - um - being a little kinky with a throw rug. Never seen that behavior before in a cat - but the people on the pets forum say that ex-male cats do that. For awhile he was in love with a fur collar and now it is his bed. (So much better than what he did on me when he first moved in! LOL)

Anyone have that vet insurance?

No I dont have pet insurance and now you know that my wallet is shaking and its not done as my dog still isnt right after a month of antibiotics!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Sampson is going to be staying at the vets tonight because there is no urine in his bladder. Obviously he wasn't in any danger of an exploding bladder. He is going to have to pee in their box tonight. The vet probably thinks I am crazy - the cat is perfectly fine and purring up a storm. But I swear he was trying to pee every 15 minutes and throwing up his food yesterday and the day before! Really.

Maybe I should get a life and leave the poor cats alone... It might be cheaper. At least now I know that his bloodwork is perfect - so he is in good health. :)

Hoping Sampson is OK♥

Phoebe is beautiful!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I got that pet insurance when I first got Crash and his brother. Was not worth it.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Thanks Ronnie, Louise and Robin!

Hope all turns out well for Sampson, Yankee! Hey, I just noticed that you are out in California! I must have missed that before! Glad you'll be back in September to come to Bill's RU! How's the weather out there?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I was in California for a week over the 4th of July visiting my Dad. I'm back now and looking forward to Bill's RU.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

But you kept the location!

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Glad Sampson is okay!
I think my new kitten officially has 8 lives left. Now this is a kitty that has not been outside yet and I signed a contract that he will be an indoors only kitty. I know the house was all closed up and I just found him at my back door crying to come in! He must have went out the window in my daughters room, because it was the only screen that I found a torn part along the bottom. He must of got it open and either jumped or fell out! Now this window is right over our driveway and it is about 15 feet high! He seems to be perfectly fine. I have a vet apointment tomorrow for his 14 week shot, so at least the vet can double check him.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

OMG... I would be a wreck

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Ouch!!!!

My Keeshond when she was a puppy jumped out of our 2nd story window but at least had bushes to break her fall.....then did it again when she was about 9 yrs old...was fine

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I always worry about Lily with that... if the screen in the bedroom fails

South Hamilton, MA

Open window from the top. works with toddlers as well as with animals.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I think the kitten worked it open.... He got out the screen door Sat night and I had just fixed it thinking my kids walked into it. I was outside and my dd started yelling mom the kitten got out! So I ran as fast as I could and caught him while he was still on the deck. Then I brought him in, fixed the screen again and a few minutes later noticed him over at it fiddling with it So now I think he is an escape artist! You know how the black rubber comes out? I think he figured out how to pull that out, so no more screen door for us! My dh had just replaced it and I've already had to fix it three times!!

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I have those stupid windows that crank out sideways! I hate them so much, you have to close them when it rains or they get soaked! And the rain comes in because it bounces off the top of them...

Thomaston, CT

Is it a special breed of kitty, Meredith?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

OMG - the location must have changed by itself because I didn't do it. Hmmmmm - now to figure out how to get it back . . . Thanks for pointing it out Victor.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I fixed it. I worked on my Dad's computer when I was visiting and it overwrote my profile with his! I think I am back now.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

And the saga continues. Picked up Sampson from my vet and then rushed him to a Cat hospital that is open nights. He got an anti-inflammatory and a pain shot and pills there in addition to everything he got at my vets. At least he is a little calm now and I can think about things other than cats in distress. :)

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

How old is Sampson?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Poor Sampson!!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Sampson is 11. He just ate some tuna and got a couple of drops of urine out. Hooray for pee! He is calmly resting - so all is well. His bladder is empty so I don't have to worry about it bursting which is the real danger. He has calcium oxalate crystals. His bloodwork is perfect - so he is healthy - he just needs to get rid of the crystals and then I have to figure out how to feed him to keep the crystals at a minimum.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

OH, those are so painful, I had a male with that. if I remember correctly a low-ash diet is in order.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yank this page has some good info and diet plans...
http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=1+2142&aid=2729

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

You are right. He already gets basically a no ash diet. There is some chance I am feeding him too many bones so he is getting too much calcium.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Celeste - that website is excellent! I think that I am going to switch him to no grain canned food for awhile. Too bad that I just bought 12 pounds of turkey gizzards yesterday. Oh well, the girl cat will be eating a whole lot of gizzards.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Glad it was hellpful, it not to Sampson then def. to the girl kitty! LOL

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Oh man I hope Sampson can pee normal real soon!

Robin, my kitten is a ragdoll, he's super cute.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Sampson is able to void urine again! I posted in the pets forum for help and our resident DG vet answered. It is so hard to try and figure out what to do as this kind of crystal is an on-going problem. I will do whatever is best for him as he was my best friend's cat and came to live with me after Bud passed away at the age of 91.

Thomaston, CT

Hugs for you & Samson, Memory...so scary when a pet is ill! Meredith, Ragdolls are soooo cute!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Thank you. A hug always helps.

Sorry about your cat AYC - my dog is still not right and looking grim. Time is ticking.

Now for Mr G. I got him to stay off the counters when I leave the house. I set a mouse trap and set it near what I thought he would go after and the trap was sprung and nothing touched :-) The rest of the house is fine~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Except - the trash. I tell him hes bad, drag him to the bucket, spank him, his ears goes back and he goes hide. How do I keep the little tyrant out of the trash? The dog that aint doing well was taught as Jim put her in the bucket, head 1st and tipped her upside down in it and spanked her - Just once and it worked.

Any suggestions?
