Diseased, shrub, tree need help to ID prob

Hazlet, NJ

Just bought a Sand Cherry(plumb) tree. Has powdery leaves and more disturbingly, these orange spots which rot and then fall out leaving holes in the leaves. Had an established tree planted behind it which(I don't know what kind of tree it is) which has a similar problem with the orange spots, however those leaves just shrivel and die. Now this established tree seems to have this problem every year, starts out fine but finishes out the summer with this yellow spot problem. Can anyone help with this problem and possibly Identify the established tree with the green berries?

It looks like "Cedar-Apple Rust" @ http://www.clemson.edu/extension/hgic/pests/plant_pests/trees/hgic2000.html

The tree looks like a crab apple to me. Does the fruit turn red with age?

Laurelgardens - I had a very similar issue with some gardenia a while ago, and I ended up cutting them down because I couldn't get rid of whatever it was. I'm glad yours cleared up; mine didn't!

The cherry has something called "shot hole disease" and you can treat it with things like liquid copper or daconil. Just like with cedar-apple rust it the treatment has to be applied just before the fungus becomes active which will be early next spring.

Thanks plantfreak, I won't give up on the sand cherry and will try your suggestion next spring!!

Your problem looks like a fungus I had the same problem with a bearded tongue this spring . I bought this 3and1 organic spray at walmart garden safe by shultz and it worked great . You would need to take care of it because it will pass spores in the air and contaminate other nearby plants
