Nice catch of the "fluffy female Cardinal" tbm. The GCF is toooooo adorable! I'd like some please.
Nan, those juvies Cardinals are fun, I caught a couple pics. of them, but they didn't turn out too good. Grrrrr. The Wattlebirds is too cool, I agree. lol
This isn't the best, but it was enjoyable; I spent a long while watching this Titmouse pecked away at the peanuts in the cage this evening. She really, really worked hard at what she was aiming for.

Hey you guys are great ,I dont have to take any more pictures I will just look at your photos and read. How you all know what you know about birds is just amazing,You are teaching me SOO Very much.Thank you Thank you..Hack your juvie cardinal too cute..
I totally agree with the above statement, I have also learned so much about birds on this forum. Actually this forum is what got me bird-watching in the first place. I just happened to click on a thread "Show Us Your Bird Feeders" and I was hooked!! Many feeders and many birds later and it seems there is always a new bird to see and learn about and of course the "common" yard birds are so entertaining!!
Since we have 29 acres we also have "farm" birds and the Dickcissel has nested here for at least the past 2 years. They have probably been here all along but I didn't notice them before. Here is a male taking a bath along a gravel road that I like to bird watch.
I too agreed with your statement, Rose, about learning so much from member to member here on our forum.
My Carolina Wren is building her/his nest again? They're pretty persistent on trying to build new nest inside the garage. I'll have to keep the garage closed most time to prevent them spending time for null. I found this one carried whatever she has in her beak to the Rose arbor. Hopefully she'll find a suitable corner there.
That is a cute shot Lily...those Carolina's are very persistent!! We have one that roosts in the garage in the winter and noticed the calling cards it left in the house one day!! I don't know how it got in or out without our knowing but the evidence was very clear!!
Way too many to comment on, but I really enjoyed looking at each photo. Great job everyone!
The Orioles have taken over here-4 quarts of sugar water a day is what I'm making. It's a good thing I have lots of blooms so the hummers can get pollen. They sure don't get much time at the feeders.
How could I turn away these beautiful birds with their sweet looks....
Great shots duc! I think I see a little red on the crown of the left Downy so that would be juveniles. The look on the first Oriole is priceless. Love all your birds!
Great oriole & phoebe Duc!!!
My interest in birds started by moving to this fabulous location and DG starting a Birdwatching Forum. This forum with pelle, Resin and all the folks over the last 3 years have been invaluable with all their knowledge they so freely share and a place where I have made great friends!
Baltimore Oriole..juvie
Haa! Hack, you and I being in the SE. We're unlikely to see the American Avocets! Grrrrr. The B-h Nuthatch returned briefly this morning for the second day visit, then it disappeared again. About the hummingbirds and Liliums, I'm not sure if the hummers can get any nectar from the beautiful flowers. I've not seen them hovering over those lilies, though.
I've discovered that there are a lot of pretty birds, we'll never see, but I do enjoy seeing them through the lenses of other birders. Oh, and I clicked my first hummer today, I'll post it later.

thebestmissy - nice pic of fluffy female Cardinal.
nanny_56 - looks like you juvie Cards are younger than mine. AND that's a pretty Baltimore Oriole juvie.
Lily_love - I, too, enjoy seeing Titmice and Chickadees up in the branches hammering away. AND You've got Carolina Wrens! Aw right, I guess I'll be seeing some before long - its been a long time.
huggergirl - what you said about learning so much from DG is 100% true for me. I don't know how I stumbled across it, but it launched me on my "new" photography past-time. It started with birds. I went from a Nikon 5100 P&S on my spotting scope, to a Panazonic FZ-28, to the camera I now have the Canon40D. With the 40D I first used a Canon 75-300 lens, then I used a Sigma 150-500 lens, now I use a Canon 400 L prime lens. THEN I saw some bug pics, and discovered macro photography. Now, I have a second D40 with a Canon 100mm lens dedicated to it. On the Wildlife Forum (Bird_Fotos turned me on to that), Critters Big and Small, Vol 4 thread, are some on my Macro shots.
dellrose - I would just love to have a Dickcissel, or two, land in front of my lens. pretty, esp, that 2nd shot.
ducbucln your pics of the (maybe Bullock's) Oriole AND the Black Phoebe are fantastic.

Well, I had a good time outside today, lost count, but I must have snapped 10-12 different bird species. Here are six of the many that are from my "On Deck" folder of pics I have worked up for display on DG. It had just rained and the rain brought out the birds. The only one I was expecting to see and didn't, was a robin.
My Cardinals were everywhere. Here's a male.

Downy drumming on the house--opened window & told it to scram. We have tons of trees here that it can use.
Oh my gosh...you all should have been here tonight!! We had a whole family of Barred Owls......6 of them flying around our yard and two of the neighbors!! It was sooooo cool!
Saturday night there was one perched on the fruit platform when I ley Buddy out at midnight but never would have thought there were that many around!!
A GREAT NIGHT!!
What a stunning thread! Congratulations to all.
Today I received a double treat. I have been struggling recently with Possums and Grackles. One steals my feeders and the other scares the remaining birds off. But since the human brain is supposedly larger than a birds, I tried to make that work for me today. I bought additional baffles, and I created my version of a white trash scarecrow. One thing I have noted is that Grackles DO NOT like people. So I hung a t-shirt on a hanger, with some leggings underneath, and put it near my feeder. It seemed to work. I was enjoying watching all my regular birds outside my kitchen window - Thrashers, Cardinals, Downy WPs, and Chickadees - when I noticed the Pileated on the tree directly in front of me. WOW. A pair has been around my yard for the past week, but never in front of my kitchen window! I grabbed my camera and ran outside - it was the female.
burn_2007 - sharp looking Mr. GOFIN there.
