last shot of the Great Blue Heron
Daily Photos Volume 332
Adel, your baby is a cutie.
Lily, great shot of Mr Lincoln.
Nanny, that a great picture of the Hairy wp. Love the split in the cattails. I'm a big fan of the Red-winged.
Margaret, your Wattlebird is gorgeous! Thanks for showing the eyes. Love that red dot.
Burd, beautiful photos of the heron, egret and cormorant. That last one is awesome.
Our Bald Eagles are mostly just flying by and looking for a shady place to get out of the hot sun.
Wonderful pictures, everyone.
Beautiful shots everyone!
Missy, Congratulations!
Little_things - Again, I love seeing your birds. The Cape Weaver is my favorite in that set.
MargaretK - Thanks for the welcome back, I really liked the look of your White-cheeked Honeyeater and the Red Wattlebird. AND I enjoyed the cropped adult Red Wattlebird's eyes. But I was intrigued by the pink disk, what is it for, do you know?
ducbucln - your young orioles are so pretty. AND that Hooded Oriole certainly was looking pretty.
Lily_love - Oh, you have Brown Headed Nuthatches. Great. AND your lily was beautiful! Do hummingbirds are visit them?
VA_Wild_Rose - where's hoping that you get feeling better, soon.
adelbertcat - what a neat capture of the Tree Swallow female peeking out the bird house.
nanny_56 - you posted a lot of nice pics. I've seen a few Hairy Wps around here, but many more Downys visit me.
Burd_Fotos - the series of the Great Egret hunting was great. AND the Cormorants in flight were super, too.
thebestmissy - your shot on the Great-crested Flycatcher sticking her head out of the nest box reminded me of adel's shot of the Tree Swallow. Nice capture.
schickenlady - I don;t know about you getting closer, but to me your pic of the Red-breasted Grosbeak is really nice.
tigerlily - of all the luck, that nesting American Avocet was just sitting along the edge of the road? Wow. Beautiful shorebird. I looked it up in my field guide and it looks to be in its summer plumage. Thanks for sharing, I'll probably never see one, being that I'm in Ga.
Hack
I was outside washing the Harley and spotted three birds way up high in the sky. I thought they were all vultures. Thanks to Burd, One was a Black Vulture, as I suspected, but the other two were Red-tailed Hawks (I thought they were Turkey Vultures).
Hack
Here's the Black Vulture soaring overhead.
WOW - I just realized that this bird is a LIFER for me. It's been a while.

I can't remember ever seeing so many different species of birds on one feeder. They must all like Black Oil Sunflower.
Goldfinch and Carolina Chickadee opposite each other at the top.
Female House Finch and male juvy Cardinal at bottom

Haa! Hack, you and I being in the SE. We're unlikely to see the American Avocets! Grrrrr. The B-h Nuthatch returned briefly this morning for the second day visit, then it disappeared again. About the hummingbirds and Liliums, I'm not sure if the hummers can get any nectar from the beautiful flowers. I've not seen them hovering over those lilies, though.
tigerlily, what great pictures of the Avocet family! Like Hack, I looked it up and it's said that a 24 hours old- hatchling Avocet is able to walk, run and even dive into water to avoid predators! What an interesting bird's characteristic!
Sherrie, the zoom-in on your camera is pretty awesome! Love that RBG.
tbm, I had a pleasure of spotting a GCF during migration -- last year, sometime. It's a beautiful bird. I'm so envious to learn they nest in your back yard!
Duc & Nan; rub it in. I don't even get the pleasure to see NOT a one Orioles. And they're nesting in your neck of the woods. Must be nice!
Burd, love those action shots of the Great Egret and its "fish for lunch" series. Agreed, the
... this one is a new fav. of mine
Margaret, ooooh, I see THE Wattle on that Wattlebird!!! How neat is that!
My highlight of the day; a couple of male Goldfinches stopped by to check on the feeder, but they didn't stay long. Just long enough for me to snap a pic. and they departed.
Sherry, Nice pic of the Grosbeak!!
Tiger, Wonderful shots of the American Avocet family!
Good shots Hack!
Lily, Glad the Goldfinch visited.
Good ones Missy!
Thats great nanny! I haven't seen any here.
