tigerlily, what great pictures of the Avocet family! Like Hack, I looked it up and it's said that a 24 hours old- hatchling Avocet is able to walk, run and even dive into water to avoid predators! What an interesting bird's characteristic!

tbm, I had a pleasure of spotting a GCF during migration -- last year, sometime. It's a beautiful bird. I'm so envious to learn they nest in your back yard!

Duc & Nan; rub it in. I don't even get the pleasure to see NOT a one Orioles. And they're nesting in your neck of the woods. Must be nice!

Margaret, ooooh, I see THE Wattle on that Wattlebird!!! How neat is that!

My highlight of the day; a couple of male Goldfinches stopped by to check on the feeder, but they didn't stay long. Just long enough for me to snap a pic. and they departed.
