Welcom to Tropical Garden #76

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I found a leaf and another curl on this philo Rita sent me, but this is anight time picture and about the only way I can see it is with the camera at this point. I have no idea how that lone Zinnia got in there, I want it to bloom before I pull it out. This one will come in and stay on the dining room all winter. ( minus its companions)
No Rain for three weeks. ugh.

I am waiting for the hibiscus here to bloom. the crossandra is blooming I over wintered. So is the shrimp plant. I found some volunteer shrimp plants in the north flower bed under the gloriosa daiseys. must have been some dead heads in there.

I gave her a trellis. I can't wait to see her bloom

vossner, I had to get a ladder to fix my shade cloth and was surprised to see all the blooms.
This is my first time growing the Abyssian Glads, so far they have made my day. Please show yours in bloom, I would love to see them!!
It has been raining cats and dogs around my area. So far, we've received about 1/2" which I am very appreciative for.
This is my view of the plumeria from inside my garden.

RacheLF, I am jealous of your Alstroemerias, I have tried growing them several times without any luck. Yours are looking sooo pretty!!
I will definately save you some seeds from the Elephant head.

Joeswife, remember to take your camera when you visit Tropicman!
Your Philo. is doing much better than mine right now, I accidently sprayed my garden with weed killer. One of my many obtuse actions.
I'm looking forward to seeing your Gloriosa Lily flower. My yellow one blomed already, but the blooms were so small, I was embarassed to show them. lol

I keep looking at the picture of the Abyssian Gladiolus, I'm gonna have to check those out and see if they'll grow here.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

you can def. grow them. if you grow glads, and glads are tropical, you can do abbies. They're not expensive but the problem is sometimes you'll get bulbs too young and will have to wait a couple of seasons b4 they bloom. You can find them at WM, Sams, HD, etc. or maybe ebay.

Debra, MJponies has Choc Mint coleus, which is the opposite coloring of your pretty one I was admiring recently. It would be fun to grow those two together in a pot.

you'll call me an enabler now,

but when they bloom, you'll call me your BFF, lol

haha...put them on my ebay watch list..........it says they could be planted this year and still bloom ?

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

like I said, my first batch blooms in dec and is presently dormant. my 2nd batch is not blooming but has leaves about 24" tall, could be off sync. I don't know.

bloom this year maybe if bulbs are mature enough, but who knows. If the corms are as big as filbert nuts or children's play marbles, probably not. If bigger, then possibly yes.

I had those sweet smelling pretty glads last year I got them here on Dg from market place, and am awaiting their blooms now.

I do not remember planting these, but since they are in the bottom of a brug container, I know I did.

Rita, I know how you fel about the weedkiller incident, my son killed the palms I gave him last year, thinking the weednfeed was good for his new plants. The neighbor to the north sprayed the northEast fence line on his side with weed killer and it about killed my Special Japanese morning glory there, but I flooded it and it looks like it may survive on our side of the fence. I hope it does rain all weekend, I would rather have rain than fireworks.

Chalice Vine is going all over the place here..
