I finally got a clematis to bloom, but I'm not sure if that is what it is supposed to look like.
Welcom to Tropical Garden #76
Beautiful plants everyone :>)
Christine
yes peony, that's elena. that clematis is so blue, is the pic true? absolutely lovely.
is royal hilo different than hilo beauty. I have HB but it struggles, could be inadequate watering. BTW, inadequate watering will cause blooms to abort. Not the end of the world and it will sto if you correct the watering.
I had to look up delonix regia, then realized I know it better as royal poinciana.
Hilo beauty, I think, has been reclassified as a caladium. I had a couple but gave them away.
The variegated plant there is El paio. Royal Hilo is a very dark, almost metallic, green.
The clematis is purple/blue. I like it, but it also struggles.

debra, which multiplies faster for you: pink or tropical milkweed? I have the tropical, growing for 3 yrs now and not a nightmare but I am very nervous about growing milkweeds b/c I don't want them to take over.
vossner, I grow both kinds here, the pink, tropical , (3 variates). and they never get out of hand as the Monarchs and Queen's eat them down to the nubbins every year. I end up having to take cuttings or start a mid-season crop to have enough for the BF's.
vossner, My milk weeds are in containers here. The tropical does not come back, so it comes inside.. the hardy ones seem to stay put, with a new plant in another part of the area the next year. I do not mind.
Metro, thank you for a nice vacation tonight. I enjoyed it. ALOT.
My pond hyacinth bloomed.
is taro those white potatoes? if so, I used to eat those all the time as a kid.
I think taro is the root part of e e 's. I think they call them korms . I think you leave a little of the tops and replant them . Isn't that what they make poi from ? Correct me if I'm wrong
I would love to see the islands , so beautiful .
Thanks , see , I learned something new
Debra, great growing as usual and thanks for letting me know that the plant I questioned you about is a Brugmansia. As far as your question on your yellow blooming Calla Lily...you may want to try and grow it in "the ground" in your zone. Several Calla's have been "hardy" here for several year's with out any type of Winter protection. I learned that one from my Mother year's ago.
Dave, I absolutely enjoyed viewing the pictures from Hawai'i. Thanks alot for sharing here. As far as your question to me concerning the Colocasia, I would have to say it is Colocasia esculenta. Would you agree as well?
Metrosideros,
Wonderful pictures of paradise !
They are always so sharp !
What camera do you have ?
Jerry
joeswife.
They came as seeds from mine and Ritas friend at work.
I do not remember the name, but she will!
I've seen some pics. she posted of the same plants last
summer. Maybe she will post them again and give their
name. Jerry
Really beautiful pictures, Dave. I love the idea of being inside the forest and looking out on the ocean.
It's good to hear that the small farms are coming back, that is so often not the case.

I sure like that little fuzzy face pooch on the left , bet it can be a terror. I'd use the big one for a pillow
Lili, does the big jasmine have a scent ? Strong ?
