2010 Garden Photos #20
Love that dark columbine, Celeste!!!
I'll save you some seeds if you want.
Yes, please!
What bunch of beauties pixie. Lilies ,roses foxglove, all so nice and just look at that toad lily ready to pop.
Dave that is a lovely pond area you have there. Do I see stepping stones to one side for exit from door? Looks like a nice place to wonder about on a hot muggy day.
Yes - very nice, Dave! I missed it among all Celeste's shots. I like the multiple levels. Looks nice and peaceful.
wow lot's blooming for you celeste - i like the dark columbine too.
Ngam - I know you're cone crazy when it comes to echinaceas, but didn't realize you're into DA roses as well.
I just planted Crown Princess Margareta too. Found one in a nursery and I have it by the fence so I'll train it as a short climber. Her neighboor is The Generous Gardener and in between them is Nelly Moser clematis.
Echie Merlot - been eyeing that for a long time. Now there's a new one in the nursery where I got my CPM rose, it's called Wine something it looks just like Merlot.
Oh my goodness, everything is looking wonderful!!! Tex I would love to visit your garden just to smell all those roses!
Peoniae, great addiction list
Bill always love your wide shots, hubby would love our yard to look like yours
Great pond, Dave
I like that Black Barlow also and Rave On.
Patti-Is that echinacea 'Merlot' more pink or purple?
Jen - anytime! You're not the only one. People in the neighborhood always stop by to 'smell the roses'. And I'm not the only one growing roses here, but I'm proud to say I got the healthiest rose bushes in the neighborhood. It's definitely black spot season, and I see a lot getting defoliated or with brown/yellowing leaves. People around here also don't deadhead or prune their roses which is vital to promote growth.
Patti - Bugs or no bugs, disease or no disease, I do a monthly maintenance of Rose Rx by Bonide. It's mainly neem oil with other organic substance. Not just an insecticide for leaf chewing insects, but it's a good miticide and fungicide as well. I used to do chemicals but this season I've seen an abundance of lady bugs and I don't really want to get rid of the good guys. Water is also essential to rose health. Roses are not drought tolerant and if dried out the more they are susceptible to diseases. Assuming you got good drainage, it is really impossible to over water roses
Funny how you call DA roses "old fashion" when in fact they're modern hybrids. But true they have the look, smell, and charm of the old fashioned roses.
