Coffee Break #40 - Approaching Solstice
Oh yeah needs to be beat!!!!
big time
Good riddance to the weinerbrain. {{{{{onewish friend}}}}
I think he's related to one of my Fla. neighbors.....What goes around, comes around though. He'll get his.
Sounds like one of my sil's. Youngest daughter has 5 kids and sil wants to start farming only he wants her to do the farming and watch the kids, etc. Kids range in age from 9 mos to 8. Yeah it pissed us off too!!!!
that is all I keep telling myself Louise... hope it's right
This has been the day from hell - and on such a gorgeous day. My mom has had very bad sciatica and it flared up again this AM. And the predisone she is on for it has done a major number on her gut. We then get a call from an emt that my aunt - the one we believe is developing Alzheimer's was in a car accident. Ironically, we had finally convinced her to have a blood workup for it and she was on her way to that. She is still in the ER. Probable fractured orbit under her eye, banged u knee and ribs. She hit a tractor trailer. Her air bag did not deploy, though the passenger one did! She is 82. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
Man, that does sound like a day from hell! Best wishes for your mom's speedy recovery! Hope your aunt with developing Alzheimer's wasnt driving! Lucky she made it out ok, those tractor trailers don't give an inch!
Best wishes
Thanks, WC. Yes, she was driving! I had just told her son (who lives in FL) that she should not be driving.
It's been really tough. With her son in FL, we have been the ones dealing with everything. And she is in deep denial about her diminishing abilities. This is a woman who did the NYT crossword puzzles with no problem and now she cannot even read! You have to finish every thought for her. It's so sad. She has been a second mother to me.
It's a horrible disease. To be healthy physically, but lose your very self, is about as bad as it can get.
Not everyone afflicted gets violent. One thing is for sure, if she has it she can't be left alone for very long. - and that 'very long' becomes shorter & shorter as the disease progresses.
Geez Victor, so sorry about today!! Both Mom & Aunt will be in my prayers along with the rest of the family.
Thanks, Celeste.
Absolutely right, WC. I was just telling her son that on the phone. At the very least, she needs an aide. She has been independent for so long that putting her even in an assisted living place will be tough. She has had multiple medical problems - the biggest being a disease called fibrous displasia. She lived in a hospital for ten years as a kid. She has had almost 40 surgeries in her life and was a single mom. She is one of my heroes.
Very difficult situation, & people don't live near each other any more. Our 3 are spread across the country & they worry.
Wow, tough lady, sad that she's had such a hard life...
Will do, Victor.
Sad, sad story Victor...thank God my Mom gave up driving years ago...her memory is getting bad, & at 95 & living alone, I worry...she's very stubborn though, & since she still cooks, does laundry, & works outside, it's hard to convince her to move. Sorry about your Mom...hope she's feeling better soon....prayers & hugs to both.
Oh, dear, Victor! Very sorry to hear about your Mom and your aunt. I'll keep them - and your family - in my prayers too. The tough stuff just keeps coming for your family, huh? Really sorry!
Sherrie - you probably haven't cried because you lost your Mom long before she died, as I did. When the loss is so gradual, it takes its toll in a different way, I think. It is such a horrible disease, and it's quite scary to have it running in your family.
Victor, Prayers for your Mom and aunt . I really dread that my dad's in Florida, the only family he has there is my nephew, he's not much, but it's someone. I think I've finally convinced my dad to retire completely. Since he can collect 60% of his wages for up to12 months on short term disability he may finally go. Ric
Prayers for your family Victor. I can't believe she was driving!
Robin, as long as your mom can do all that stuff and she wants to, I say let her.....as she is living alone though, does she have a first alert alarm thingy?(I forget what they are called). That was the first thing we got my mom after she got stuck in her bathtub overnight.
Update on my nephew's baby...not doing to good, baby's heart is failing and the longer they wait to see what will happen it may start to effect Michelle's health.
Hope it works out for him, Ric. It's no fun having an elderly parent so far away.
I can sympathize with your mom Victor, I hope she feels better soon. My DIL's step dad has dementia, I think it's harder on the care takers to see what becomes of them. I will keep your family in my prayers.
Jen sorry to here the baby isn't doing well
Thanks, all. I appreciate it.
Sorry to hear that, Jen. So sad.
So sorry Jen :(
Luv to you and yours Victor. Thoughts and prayers coming your way.
thoughts and prayers going out to Victor's family... and Jen's... best wishes to all
