Geez, I just noticed the other night how light it was at 8:30 pm and now we are on the decline!!

Well i've not posted in a while about Brian's foot....but it is now causing a bunch of problems on the knee. He's right there with Bill & Victor i'm afraid. He started P.T. 2X a week for 8 weeks an they got no where. The doctor then prescribed Hydrocodine 7.5 mg. he's to take 2 (15mg) before P.T. and one Flexall after P.T. He's been doing this for 8 weeks now. He hates it as he's higher than a kite for the day and then the next day he groggy and sore as heck. Tomorrow we got to Bangor to see the specialist and see what they are going to do to his knee. It's already been hinted at that it may require surgery.
Well all this medication over the last 7 years Brians teeth and gut have taken a beating. Friday night I ended up taking him to the Emergency Room for his tooth. It was so bad 3 different Dr.'s came in and looked at it, then he got a spew about how your bottom teeth can kill you when they become that infected. Brian got a big wake up call!! He's on antibiotics 500 mg every 6 hours for 10 days and more pain meds but he stopped taking the pain meds today. He said it's not so bad now that the antibiotics are starting to work. He gets it pulled next Monday.....he really can't get a break :(

Dreaming of better days ........

Oh no. So sorry to hear, Celeste. Please give Brian my best. The teeth take priority. That can cause major problems. The knee can be done later. Maybe he can be in the gimpy race too! Hope he feels better. Not surprised that the foot cause knee problems. Any change in gait or posture affects everything. Might bother his hip eventually too.

No decline yet! One more week.

Well that stinks, Celeste.

Saw a guy in ICU once who was brought in for an infected tooth, his head was swollen to the size of a basketball! - unfortunately he lasted about 2 weeks...

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

best of luck with everything Celeste!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks all, we need the good wishes for tomorrow....no surgery are the words we are hoping to hear.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Sending positive thoughts Celeste! Hope all goes well.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Hey Celest the picture looks like Torsey Pond

Sorry Brian. To give you a glimmer of hope with the teeth. No infection is good, period. But having a lower mandible jaw infection is less threatening then an upper maxillary infection. The upper can get into the sinus cavities and cause havoc.

I am not a doctor! Unless things have changed that is what I was taught years ago being a CDA and watching/assisting the doctor work.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Oh, dear, Brian. Prayers coming your way. Hoping for a good resolution.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Please keep us up to date, Celeste.

It has come to light that England offered to give us loads of the dispersant used for oil spills right after the rig exploded. There was a shortage of it. For some reason, we turned the offer down! The State Dept claims it was a paperwork problem. This gets more incredible by the day. Wonder how many people in the region believed the 'Things will soon return to normal' promise yesterday.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

celeste i hope brian feels better soon!!

my knee has been acting up a bit from softball - all the fast start and stopping is aggravating it.

"The bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of an expanding bureaucracy" (lol)

- reminds me of when the mayor told chief Brody to keep the beaches open...

Pixie, prayers & hugs for Brian.....my girlfriend's face blew up 2 weeks ago with an abscess...then they pulled the tooth, but she is much better now! Her Dad was a dentist & never let her eat sugary things, but when you get older, everything goes......my repaired hip has been barking lately.

Hee hee - true, WC.

Funny WC

This is mind-blowing two months after the fact. But at the same time, not shocking.

UGH

What happens in real life is more unbelievable than what happens in the movies... No coordination, 'no one in charge' echos of Katrina again, I thought FEMA was supposed to coordinate stuff like that.
Whenever we have a disaster it's like the 'Keystone Cops' are coming to the rescue...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I see it as worse than Katrina in a few ways, not the least of which is that we were supposed to learn from Katrina!! But also there was way more time to prepare in this case. Days turned into weeks before it was really taken seriously. Also, you did not have the conflict of Feds vs local authorities as we did with Katrina. Lastly, and most importantly, we did not have to evacuate 100's of thousands of people who think they know better by staying put.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Also, I left out the free passes that BP was allowed to get in the first place. They were 'connected', so lots of shortcuts were granted.

FEMA 's main goal is to help people to find a home/shelter. I do not know about how they help a business other then if it was in a structer/building.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Can you believe it?!!! Now the tanker sucking up the oil was hit by lightning and cannot function for a while. What next????

GOOD GRIEF!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Oh my gosh!!!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

- a hurricane to stir things up some more.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

OMG! Can't believe that, will it ever end?

Good news as far as the knee, no operation! Now they want to send him back to the foot Dr. and have his fused ankle lifted. Meaning setting the fuse so the toes are pointed up-wards more and Brian's reply was .... "F___ that! Not going through it again."
So I have no idea where it will go from here, stay tuned. :o

My friend that got me into gardening is 75 years old. His doctor told him he, had to have a surgery on his eye to relive pressure. He did it and now he is totally blind in that eye - which he was not before. Now they want him to have the other eye done that he can see out of.

He said - they can drop dead. I told him to get a second opinion on what happened.

South Hamilton, MA

oops. One time I was seeing an eye Dr. he got a call & had to listen to him Not reccommend surgery to fix an eye because there was a chance that he would lose his sight.. Very sad & must have been hard on the Doc. Certainly gave me confidence in him.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Celeste - tell him to have them just point the middle toe up. ^_^

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Hee hee he...i'll tell him!

Pixie, see if a chiropractor can help Brian....he may need orthotics.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I would recommend a physiatrist - rehab doc.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

For a second there, I read it as psychiatrist
