Thanks for the wishes and tips, I'm hoping to get through this as quickly as possible. The medication I'm taking is helping with the nausea. The worst part is the loss of being able to focus, I may have to get some books on tape to help pass the time for a few days or so.
Victor, that Ortho PI killer works really well for me. I can watch it dry up at spray bottle distance. It's pretty effective on stray trumpet vine also. Ric
Garden Projects 3
Ric, wonder if that will work on other brush. I have a bunch of stuff I'd like to kill that keeps coming back (i.e. choke cherry, buckthorn, raspberries, blackberries, etc.).
Karen
Karen, It probably would, I'll check the label tomorrow. Ric
Hope you are feeling better, Ric.
If you mean Brush - B - Gone, I know - been using it for years. And yes, Karen, it does.
beware karen it will kill anything it touches - i have used it with great success although have not needed it recently
I've used it on wisteria, but must use it again...the wisteria keeps popping up.
My GM had a wisteria arbor on the end of the house, they built an addition that covered it, 10 years later I was still going in the crawl space to put weed killer on it. They don't die easy. LOL Ric
You're so right, Ric.....I cut away tons of it today, away from my rose & clem trellises.....it's hard to get the poison on the wisteria without killing the good plants! I also hoed the veggie garden, tied up some dahlias, & weeded a small flower bed...so much to do this time of year.....am waiting to hear from a woman who has been doing garden work for some art classmates....I need her for at least a week.
I will have to get some of that Brush-B-Gone. I have lots of tough brush that needs killing. Normally I don't like to use chemicals, but I'm getting sick of cutting back this stuff every year.
Marilyn, I hope you can get your gardening help. I wish I could find someone around here who would work for plants. I had a woman who used to do that for me, but she's very busy these days with work, her grandson, and her own gardens. Will have to find someone else.
Karen
weeds are taking over here and i can't stand to see them - will spend an hour weeding a day and then go play with the rock wall until the yard is cleared again - was able to clear 5 beds yesterday.
Hope you feel better soon Ric. I have just finished a round with vertigo myself. Have had it several times but none as bad as the first attack. I am lucky though, no nausea, at least not much, but moving about is like being loaded without the party. Usually lasts 4-7 days. Sudden moves can turn things into a thrill ride. Good luck.
I have some PI to kill off but have been waiting for a nice sunny hot day to paint the leaves, maybe this weekend.
like being loaded without the party, funny, and I agree
Funny! Unless, of course laughing makes the vertigo worse!
A never ending buzz, it's no fun. It seems to get worse as the day progresses but does seem somewhat better than at the onset. Hope tomorrow is better.. Ric
Tell me if you agree this is funny. Every summer, on a nice hot day, DH and I would take the kids up to Water Country for the day. For YEARS DH would carry me up the highest water slide and let/make me slide down. He felt he was showing my kids that he loved me so much that he would carry me up three flights of stairs. MS couldn't slow us down! Anyway, I hate rollercoasters. I hate that feeling of not knowing which way is up and which way is down. It is extremely similar to the feeling of having MS,for me. So finally after three or four years of this I finally old him that it wasn't worth the hoopla because I didn't enjoy the water-slide. Ouch.
I'm not brave enough for a water slide!
Oh Carrie, you probably broke his heart. Thinking he was doing you a favor, poor guy
Oh, I'm feeling nauseous just reading about the vertigo. I get nauseous on spinning rides, so I don't do them. Roller coasters I'm fine on, but don't do them now due to back/neck problems, and they're too jarring on me. I could be hurting for weeks, mostly in my neck, shoulder area.
Carrie, I wouldn't think that's funny at all. I like water slides, but I have to be really careful. Water goes up my nose when I hit the bottom really easily if I don't pinch it shut good enough, and one time my ear popped really badly when that happened. Sometimes it's hard to know when you're gonna hit the bottom, so I can't get my nose pinched at the right time. I mostly avoid them now. Don't like waiting in long lines, anyhow. The lazy river is more my speed. I also love the wave pool, especially the one at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon. Best wave pool ever!!!!!!!
Karen
I am getting better, I think. I woke up this morning and hopped out of bed, saw a glass of tea next to the bed and picked it up, as I tilted back my head to swallow it, I abruptly sat on the bed and remembered why I shouldn't do that.LOL My vision is definitely improved, and Holly said I shuffle much quicker and don't hold my arms out like a landlubber on a rolling deck. Ric
aaawwwwww poor Ric... {{{{hugs}}}}
it doesn't matter how frightening or high it is... if it has water involved.. I can do it... as long as the ride doesn't do the same motion over and over like spinning in a circle or swing back & fourth... I am good
LOL Ric, that is a perfect description of how you have to move about when the vertigo is doing its thing. Glad it is easing up a bit. You will appreciate a level stationary world so much when it goes away. Hang in there.
geez Ric sorry to hear your not feeling well, being dizzy/off balance is no fun. (unless ya wanna be:)

Hope you are on the road to wellness.
I didn't break his heart; he took a deep breath and said "okay." He was sad.
Happy Father's Day guys! Things were even better today, fairly level with improved vision, still feels like I'm squinting into the sun with a mild headache. Sunday comics was about the most reading I want to do yet. I don't even want to drive till my vision clears completely. I did a accomplish a good bit of weeding, a move in the right direction.
Got a nice Echo leaf blower/vac for Father's day, great timing, my old one gave up the ghost. Cheers! Ric

Nice present, Ric...glad you were able to weed.
Looking fabby Cousin Nut. Sorry you were 'tipsy' Rick. Hopefully you are better now.
Can't believe you did that in the hot weather. Congrats on completion of another lovely wall. Is that a horseshoe pit?
Wonderous wha. Is that beside the drive?
Looks great, Bill.
Wha, Love it almost the best of all your walls as it has that great curve with the standing stone at the end. Glad you have been busy. I have not. But trying to enjoy what is blooming. Kind of been lurking and trying to keep up with every one's projects. I am going to get out today and take some shots.
Our new timber wall is coming along. The guy who is doing it is beyond clever. He has done a terrific job of laying down a whole system for better drainage and a way to attach the timbers which is way better than the re-bar that they used 25 years ago. He has used a lot of drainage tubing and gravel and attached it all to a dry well in the terrace. He has finished the lower level and now ready to start the next level of timbers up the first flight of stair, not built yet nor in the picture. He only works after his regular finish carpentry job and weekend, so slow going, but he has been great. He also loves our garden and always takes a walk through before he starts each night to see what is new, so he has been very careful and respectful with all the plants. I have been very pleased, except that it isn't made a la Wha with stone. Patti
Another beauty Bill.
Patti, All that attention to detail and drainage should make this last even longer. Ric
Patti it looks like he's doing a great job! Methinks it's going to be well worth the wait!
Yes - very involved. Worth the wait.
thx all:)
dnut this is in the back yard and you can not see if from in front - behind raised bed and full of tall stuff.
patti this one is actually straight across the back with the curve to the standing stone to match the wall next to it (out of the picture) and you are right it is my best wall - very helpful to have a huge supply of rock to choose from. Your project seems to be coming along great and i could tell from the pictures he was protecting the plants - happy to see you post.
pat it was hot and i only worked on it in the afternoons which is when the sun beat down on me - Lot's of water was consumed - and that is a horse shoe pit - wall was made high and flat enough to place brown beverage bottles without falling over during competitions:)
now i started to add a couple feet more to the wall finished last fall as the bed and front do not line up right from my sight line at the fire pit. will not bore anyone with that - although i do have a nice standing stone to put in front of it that may make dg if it looks as good as i think it will. it was supposed to be on this wall and could not find a fit for it.
I appreciate looking at great workmanship, both Bill's and your workman's, Patti.
O bother I'm all mentally turned around at your place wha.
