What have you ordered 2010 #8

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

feel better soon Patti

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Working on my fall bulbous orders I noticed the very prettiful 'Boston' tulipa. Does everyone in MA have that one ^_^ Is it multiplying? Methinks I am going to try some more Triumph tulips this year on my quest to find non-pooper-outers and that looks like a good choice. Also does anyone have primula 'Red Cap' and if so, does it really stand out? (not a fall bulbous thing but is on sale now).

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Celeste - how happy are you and Brian with that sprinkler? Some of the reviewers complain about the legs being weak and it tipping over.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Patti - hope you are feeling much better very soon!!!

Celeste - that looks like a very cool sprinkler!! I'll be anxious to hear your review of it also. I need something like that in my upper garden where I have my tomatoes and peppers and onions this year. It's hysterical....the fight with the big trees and the shade in my garden continues. There is one corner only (NE corner) that keeps the sun until around 4ish, so this year I put my toms, peppers and onions along the fence in that corner. Outside the ugly "Clampet-style" fence in that part of the upper garden, I planted wildflowers, hollyhocks and zinnias on the other side of the fence.

Victor - what is an enkianthus? I'm too lazy to go look it up. LOL Sounds like you are a happy camper with winning ways!

Jen - love Marmalade......don't you have that one, Bill???? I think I fell in love with it at Bill's. :)

almost all the photos belong to Victor anyway.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Jen - you shame me! LOL Thanks for being much less lazy than I am! That is a very pretty shrub!! Ok, Victor, can you sweet talk another one for me???? LOL!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee!

This canopy is convenient. Allows me to use the hammock on the sunny patio.

Great nap spot Victor!

Thomaston, CT

Very inviting spot....but I would be jumping up to pull weeds.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

yes i have that one louise - one of my fav's!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Yes, mine too, Bill.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

if you are good maybe it will give you a hunk - hank will be the judge:)

I wrote on a thread somewhere that I heard you should plant some white annual geraniums because japanese beetles are attracted to them, they eat them but they die.

SO I tried it, found a DEAD japanese beetle on one of the geranium leaves. Here's hoping I see lots of dead ones soon!!!!

Thomaston, CT

Thanks, Jen....is that true geranium or pelargonium?

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Interesting about annual white geranium. Learn something new every day around this place.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I would guess Pelargonium.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I looked it up and it seems they get intoxicated on them. I wonder if it will attract more. I may try them but wonder if they should be near the raspberries or away from them.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Good question, Debi!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I planted it right next to my crape myrtle which seemed to be a jb magnet last year...we'll see what happens
The Pelargoniums are the annual ones right?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

right, thanks Jen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Has anyone had the JBs yet?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

will probably find some now!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I ordered this. I like the versatility of the two heights and the various patterns.

Thomaston, CT

Looks nice! I'm hoping I won't need to water, but the rain barrel is full right now. No JBs yet, they like my roses, though.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I had a hose shutoff valve and after a while it caused my hose to explode near the fitting. Luckily Dh was able to repair it. I wonder if that only happens with cheap hoses?
Recently reciebed my Grower's Exchange order of some Sunset Candy Lilies and a Dwarf Sage (so far the 'Dwarf' Sage is bigger than the regular one I grew from seed a couple years ago. So not sure if I would consider it dwarf!
I recently placed an order with Select Seeds for some Viola Etain and a Calibrachoa 'Callie Peach'. Couldn't find that peach coloredone in localnurseries. They only have Coral which just looks bright pink to me or Tequila something er other that looked more Red and Orange to me.
Sbar keep those kids dirty and happy! Tell Dh if plants we eat grow out of soil it can't be that bad, right? That's what I tell dh when he complains about me getting seed starting mix on the kitchen counter and sink! Lol : )

Victor I meant to answer sooner about the sprinkler...that one I posted is not the EXACT one I own. I was just throwing it our there for an example...sorry! Ours has given us no problems with balance/tipping. ^_^

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No problem, Celeste. ^_^

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

No JBs here yet. They usually show up mid to late June around here.
Nice rain tower Victor. Can't use any automated device in my town. Hand held hose only unless you have a well.
The article on JBs is very good however what is that a picture of in the left top corner?Does not look like JBs to me.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

None here yet and I was thinking the nice thing about the roses being early is that the JBs haven't gotten them yet.

South Hamilton, MA

Earlier question about Boston tulip: I haven't heard of them. However we have very few tulips so as not to attract the 'dear' deer.

Victor I picked up a few sprinklers like that from Lowes... I love them.. but since Randy put in the micro ones in the garden beds... I only use them for the lawn when it needs it

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

ya irisMA tulips and deers are not a good mix.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I like that transplant knife.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

picked up a tigers eye sumac yesterday for the new bed - likes it dry and full sun which is what it gets all afternoon - put it behind the red birch - contrast is nice

Thomaston, CT

Didn't know that sumac was hybridized....the wild stuff grows all over the sides of the road leading to ours....beautiful fall color.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I've had that one for years - very nice.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I can't beleive you guys actually pay money for them...they are all over the place here. 2 or 3 different kinds and they are very invasive. But then again I see flower companies offering 'Blue Eyed Grass" for sale too....it grows all over here also.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No - that's regular sumac. Plenty here too - constantly removing it. Tiger Eyes is a gorgeous cultivated variety.
