What have you ordered 2010 #8

Thomaston, CT

Not only do I remember house calls, I remember the doctor putting a sign on our house when I had measles! I didn't order this, but my son brought it home yesterday from my nephew's in the Bronx...Mark has no idea what his parent JM is, but Garret said it had a pink tinge to the leaves...this has pinkish stems....Bill? Victor?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

if it is grown from seed it is an ORIGINAL:) i would call it marilyn- yama - most jm's are grafted so they are not true to the grafted tree. i have a dozen of them growing and all are a bit different.

Thomaston, CT

Ah....an original! Hope it survives.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I remember getting stuck on velvet seats in the car.
Welcome sbarr.

Not red, but violet puce. Patti

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Magenta I would call it. I have the visions red or so it was labeled but I would call it bright magenta. Very striking in the garden. What is the one you have? That is a gorgeous pic btw.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Magenta is my call.Even after lightening the pic in Photoshop Its magenta.
Great color

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Welcome sbarr ^_^

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Ge, will have to look, but memory says yes...dark stems.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

yahooo mine has em.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Anyone who does not have a hose shutoff valve between the hose and the sprayer, get one. It's such a convenience. I have a great little brass one from Lee Valley.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I'm laughing here! Brian & Brother Brian have over 800" of hose stretched out down to the corn field. We have 4 of those shut offs! LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

800?!!! Do you use a pump to increase the pressure? That's a lot of drop.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

No extra pump. We have a new well...it has great pressure....800 feet and still comes out of this http://www.amazon.com/Orbit-58308-Tripod-Brass-Impact/dp/B0002IQ96Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=garden&qid=1275520055&sr=1-1
to water the garden.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yes, Brian was very happy!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I'll look that up.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sweet-talked my way into a free enkianthus perulatus. Just about impossible to find. Love the one I have. Incredible fall color. Just received it. Looks great.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Ahh men and their sweet talkin ways. Takes me back to the 80's.

Victor, nice score.

Celeste, I forwarded Brian's new sprinkler to my DH email. hint hint hint. I'll see if he bites.

I just ordered more Hollingsworth peonies today for a fall shipment through a Mama coop. I got a bunch from them through a DG coop a couple of years ago and they have all done wonderfully well.

http://www.hollingsworthpeonies.com/home

The DDeer and rabbits have ignored them. I am working on my fall bulb orders as I am fighting another illness and can think of nothing better to do while in bed. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. This could get expensive if I can't get better soon.

We finally got a surveyor to come today to mark our boundaries so I don't continue to plant on the neighbors property. He will post the property lines soon. While he was here we found that we did plant some cedars, now huge, years ago not on our land. I think we can move the deer fence that is on the wrong side of the cedars without much trouble if they new people complain. Not a big issue in that spot, but awaiting to see the rest of the boundaries marked.

flowerjen, that is a nice Heuchera, but I like most of them. I am about to write an article about Heuchera for the local newspaper. I have been asked to write 3 or 4 more article for during the summer. I thought I might write another about Eryngium and then perhaps one about building an Endless Stream (when you are a fat old lady) or one about hardy ferns or cranesbill (geraniums). I think I will write them all and they can print which ever suits them. Each has to be only about 1000 words. Fun to do, plus they pay me for them. Yippee. I just planted 3 more hardy Hibiscus, but not your one called Cherry Brandy. I planted Blue River II, Summer Storm and Turn of the century. I will look forward to seeing yours in bloom and mine too. Patti

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Be better soon Patti.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

be better soon amen! was i supposed to say that patti:)

stopped at a few nurseries today and picked up some marigolds (should have started more from seed) for the new wall be the driveway and impatiens for a couple shade boxes, two echi's to replace three from a coop that did not survive t-soup and midnight, might move one to replace the third one - and couple snakeroot (can remember how to spell the ci---- word).

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Thanks all. Celeste, I got DH to bite. He just said that he ordered that nice tall sprinkler.

Wha, I bought a some marigolds the other day. I have to have some each year. Even if they are mundane, they make me smile. I learned from SongofJoy that impatience will grow in water along the edge of the stream. The white ones look so nice along the stream. I could use a few more. Patti

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

patti - cancel your order - i will give you mine we do not have the water pressure for it to work and its been sitting in my shed for a couple years.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I was just remembering today I needed to pick up some marigolds

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just opened the enkianthus - beautiful. More than two feet tall. Great since it's a very slow grower. Not bad for free!

Thomaston, CT

Why free? Did you trade with someone? Jo, like the Marmalade...hope the hibiscus does well for you. Patti, hope you're up & planting soon!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No - used a bit of my Blarney. ^_^

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Robindog, not up, but feeling good enough to be very jealous of Victor's Free Enkianthus. That one is pretty in the fall.

Wha, sweet of you. I will see if the one he ordered works on our pressure and if it does I will buy yours too for another big bed. I hate hauling sprinklers all over the place. Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Feel better, Patti!
