Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I understand completely

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Nice little hosta and dogwood.
Coppertina is definitely a good one.
Really good thing we all have such willpower isn't it. ^_^

Ha ha ha...will power. I did leave all credit cards at home, and only took $65. DH was not so insightful, had cash and cards in pocket. lol

Nice Ge! Forgot about the poppies I bought!
Royal Wedding (mine died 2 yrs. ago)
'Beauty of Livermere'
'Princess Victoria Louise' (lost this one last year0

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Been a bad plant daddy and still had not opened the Rosy Dawn order. I just did, thinking I would find dried out ex-plants, but was pleasantly surprised. I will plant them tomorrow.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

ngam that ech is very orangey. Will it stay that way or turn pinky as the bloom ages?
Ivory Halo is one of my favs but stays very little in my garden.
ge1836 at first I thought you had a giant spider in your flower :O WOWSER big blooms.

I learned a very fabby trick to working with packing peanuts on the Great Garden Centre Tour. Soak your arms and hands with water and it eliminates the static so you can snag em and bag em without them being floaty.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Bluestone shipped mine 26th and its a long holiday. Guess mine will need a lot of water before I can plant ,if they lived.Maybe they will come tomorrow. I keep thinking its Friday.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

JoAnn that is one big poppy bloom. Gorgeous! I hope your order comes tomorrow. They usually do a good job packing with all those peanuts and all so even if they are delayed hopefully they will be still okay.
The echinacea is new to me and most everyone this year but is supposed to stay orange. The cone will get darker. They are on sale btw. http://www.greatgardenplants.com/index.php?pageId=865

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks Pat.I couldnt believe the size myself.

Thomaston, CT

It's a giant! Did you use a lot of fertilizer, JoAnn? I like that orange echie, Pat. And thanks for the peanut tip, Dnut....I usually try to dump them into a garbage bag as well, but they are messy. Nice hostas, Pixie...I am thinking about Thunderbolt. Today I bought a yellow rose, Tequila, hardy to zone 4, a fuchsia hanging basket, & some morning glory.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I guess the drowning in horese manuer all winter is what did it.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Robin that rose 'Tequila' has me very interested....yellow and z4 hardy is right up my alley. Looks lovely too!!

South Hamilton, MA

If you bag the peanuts our UPS store will take them. No money changes hands, you are just rid of the peanuts which is a good thing.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm sure the landfills are chock full of them. Horrible idea. They should only allow degradable ones.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I thought they were the degradable ones ???

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I got the styrofoam ones.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Pat - that orange cone is a beauty. I'll be interested to know if you find it truly hardy. I'm concerned that a lot of the newer cultivars don't come back. I lost "After Midnight" and so did my sister down in NC. I love the new colors, but want to see what your experience is with the Tangerine Dream. That's one I'd definitely like!

Celeste - good picks on the hostas and Brian's dogwood! I've got to get out there with a camera and try to ID some of my hosta. JoAnn brought a really pretty one in September that is doing very well. It was a NOID and it is among others that I want to know the names of. I picked up a really nice Patriot at HD for not much cash, and today I should be receiving 3 new hosta babies and some new baby heucheras that I'm excited about. I have Allison to blame or thank for leading me astray on this order! LOL

JoAnn - Wowzer! on the horse poop poppy!

Dahlia - thanks for that peanut tip! Hate those things!

Thomaston, CT

Pixie, Tequila right now is very yellow, but the tag says changes to orange....I'll see.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I am of the opinion that nurserymen are color blind.

Thomaston, CT

Yes, you can't rely on the names, that's for sure.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

LOL, JoAnn!

My order from Garden Harvest came late yesterday and I have the following new plants in the ground as of this moment:

Heuchera: Can Can, Citronelle, Georgia Peach & Miracle
Hosta: Fire & Ice, Great Expectations, Hadspen Blue
3 plants (I thought I was ordering 3 packs of seeds..LOL!) of Jade green beans.

The plants were well packaged and very healthy. I'll be giving them a good grade for that, but I don't think they should indicate "Fast shipping" on their website. They weren't fast!

Thomaston, CT

I like Jade----great flavor!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

I agree. I love the color too. Have you seen seeds anywhere, Marilyn? I grew them in pots in Florida and in my big garden here last summer. The girls got them instead of treats in Florida, so I'd really like to find some seeds.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

3 more blueberry bushes ^_^

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Gonna be some yummy pies out your way Pixie I think.
I got out for a short trip to local nursery yesterday afternoon. Picked up a 'Silver Mound' artemesia to replace the one I had. It finally succumbed to it's less than perfect position after several years. This one will be better sited. Also got a carpet rose, don't know why. It is called 'Amber'. Then found the annuals for the pot and some less than wonderful fencing but it will have to do for now. Pic of plants waiting to get potted up today.

Nice color combo, Pat.

sweeeeet

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - great planting, Pat.

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

Hi newcomer here - still trying to familiarize myself with everyone, so I've been lurking a bit..

Participated in a co-op last year, but they arrived this week, so I could them as ordered this year. :)

Heurchera: Midas Touch, Shanghai, Midnight Rose, Berry Smoothie

Echinacea: Hot Lava, Gum Drop

Mudkenia

Agastache: Raspberry Summer.

Also, jumped in and got my first rosebush - sorry, don't recall the name, but fingers are crossed. For some reason, roses have always intimidated me as being complicated, when I know that's not the case, esp. seeing my negligent neighbor's lovely little bush next to our driveway.

What was most special about transplanting today - my 2 year old helping me put the tissue cultures in small pots for transplant in a couple of weeks. I put out her toddler table on the back patio and we transplanted together. When I was done and trying to put together my new raised bed kit, she wanted to keep going, so I moved her table to the shade so she could keep working. Tears came to my eyes when I saw her absolutely filthy and using her little trowel to put potting soil into cow manure pots. I gave her a few weeds to transplant. *hahaha*

Needless to say - when daddy asked if there was "anything in the soil" - meaning harmful since her face was absolutely filthy, I neglected to mention that the pots were cowpots made out of manure. He would not have been as amused as I was. My attitude - a good immune system makes for a healthy child.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Welcome, Sbarr!! I enjoyed picturing your little one becoming a gardener. I think you are wise to realize that dirt = immunity in little kids. My childhood pediatrician made it a point to tell my Mom that when he showed up for a house call one day and my Mom was so embarrassed at how dirty we were from making mudpies. House call? What are those? Dates me for sure! LOL

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

I remember house calls.....with big fat needles for penicillin cooking on the stove!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice list, sbarr. Good luck!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

welcome sbarr - good luck and ask questions if you want.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Yuk, Phoebes......not a fun time, medically speaking, was it? Some doctors thought that the germophobes were more susceptible to polio than those of us who were outdoors and filthy all the time! Who knows!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Thanks guys. I got them all potted up and the new arrivals planted too.
Welcome sbarr. Nice bunch of goodies you have there. I have been looking at that 'Berry Smoothy' huech. Let us know how you like it okay. Don't forget pics and it's good to start 'em gardening early so when you get old and feeble they know what to do. LOL
I remember house calls and polio scare too. Ah the good old days. Maybe not so much. Old saying I recall is 'you will eat a peck of dirt before you die'.
