A pair of Bluejays decided to set up housekeeping in the umbrella on our deck. It's been fascinating watching them build their nest.
Their lumber needs are stored on the table until they start construction.

Yes, I had a pair last year 10' from my house on one of my decks also. When they hatched they got territorial, - buzzed me whenever I passed by their nest, did kind of a 'nose dive' right at me! lol
I'm waiting for that WC. Jays can be ferocious. I'm also concerned because the umbrella has gone sailing in strong winds. Not a problem now, but with my soft heart, I'll be out there in a hurricane holding the umbrella down if there are chicks in the nest.
Hmmm, that could definitely be a problem, make sure you wear a 'hard hat' while you hold it down... (lol)
