Thomaston, CT

My hairdresser decided...he cut my hair very short....summer haircut he called it.

Mine too.

Happy to see that finally, someone (State of CT) in this country is investigating Google.

Raccoon attack update! We just heard today from county public health and the raccoon that attacked my daughter was rabid. She has returned from the cruise and has finished her series of shots. The wounds are healing but they are going to leave some nasty scars. She is still feaked out when she gets in and out of the car in her driveway. Eleanor

I just decided to let my hair grow. It's been short for too long. Funny sentence in this conversation.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - terrible, Eleanor. Good thing for the shots. Any ill effects?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Eleanor, did she need stiches?

So I just got a little trim, I'm trying to get the layers all one length and then I'll decide what to do with.
My stylist likes hers short but she said will grow it out for her hubby...then she cuts it off again and he complains she replies "hey I'm in the business gotta keep up with the trends"
She overheard her hubby telling someone that line after she got it cut again, guess she trained him well, lol

No stitches for animal bites or scratches. The wounds need to be kept open to help prevent infection. If they are stitched, then any bacteria present grow inside of the wound and cause an even worse issue. Sarah didn't have any ill effects except for fear and she still has anxiety getting in and out of a car in her driveway. Thanks for caring. Eleanor

Scary story, Eleanor.....glad your daughter is recovering! I walk with the dogs daily, & I'm always worried something will come out of the woods....saw 2 deer yesterday, but I don't worry about them.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

do not blame her for being a little gun shy getting out of the car after that - glad she is feeling well - rabies is scary!

I saw a rabid manegy fox once. It was sad. Sorry about the coon, at least she got her shots and will be ok.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

sounds like a huge waste of money.

Hallowell, ME

You know Vic, sometimes I wonder what you do with your day?!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Some of that decor is sooo tacky looking!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I don't feel comfortable in skyscrapers, they're too high & they sway too much.

South Hamilton, MA

You should have seen the hotel at the iris convention. It was one of the atrium type with the glass sided elevators. I didn't like that, & was not the only person 'facing front'.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Total waste of money! It's hard to read that, knowing right around the corner, there is probably someone sleeping in a box...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I mentioned this last week.

Starting to hear some buzz about BP going ch 11. Knew that would happen.

"Corporation, n. An ingenious device for obtaining individual profit without individual responsibility."
— Ambrose Bierce

I mentioned we would all pay for this one way or another.. The oil is a foot deep in some spots now. Ho Hum

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Can't blame it all on BP, WC. This company was tight with this government - supported all the big programs passed on the past 1 1/2 yrs. Unsurprisingly, favors were returned with bypassed permits, no investigations, safety awards, etc. Only now are they painted as the bad guys by the same people who gave them all the rewards.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I agree 100%

Thomaston, CT

Didn't anyone research the dangers of deep well explosions? Or is the money just too good?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Horrible about this Arlington scandal. They buried a soldier on top of another. What a disgrace.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

- The money is too good, I hope that Brookhaven National labs takes heed of the gulf catastrophe and decides to stop trying to make a black hole!

-They must be running out of space in Arlington. I heard the curator announced his retirement last week.

Edit: There should be a worldwide ban on trying to make black holes... (lol)

No - they supposedly have enough space until 2060.

black holes or back holes?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Weird - for almost a week now I've been getting a few new spots of PI every morning. Mostly arms and legs. I must have had it on my hands and spread it.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

...black holes, the kind that suck up a whole galaxy.

Thomaston, CT

The PI is all over my property this year....I've got to kill it, but I hate using chemicals because of the well.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

This guy tortured this poor family.

- and where is he going to hide a body in Aruba except in a sharks mouth?!
I doubt he'll last 3yrs in a Peruvian prison.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I hope you're right. Hope he gets no special protection.

South Hamilton, MA

Who expects a murderer to have any ethics? Oh, I just killed a person, am I worse because I'm trying to make money from it? If Aruba police had done their job properly, the lady in Peru would not have died.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Clapping here irisMA, I agree!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

And the FBI.
