Great Blue Heron with his catch:

I couldn't believe my good fortune when the GBH arrived with food in his beak! What a sight! It was but 30 feet away from the window where I was. This fella isn't into sharing. A second GBH soon arrived at the spot, he then took off with his prize.

Roughly 100 yards away by the pier, an egret was awaiting for breakfast to surface.

Mallard ducks occassionally frequent the area. Here is a female, her mate remains nearby.

My goodness! Look at that orifice for a nostril on the T.Vulture! Pelle, the pics. with such clarity. Thank you. And here one can see the difference with the sizes contrast on the two types of birds, Grackles and Vulture. Wow!

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

Love the GB Herons Lily.

My goodness only a mother could love that Turkey Vulture. UGLY! I wish one would visit my yard. The number of Grackles is horrible this year. 25 to 30 at one time!

Marlton, NJ

Same here GG, mine never seem to leave. I'm glad they didn't give my Chickadee family any trouble.

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Great start Lily! Love that first shot of your GBH with fish!

Pelle... I love that shot of the TV walking! That looks like a caption shot to me!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Thanks for the new start Lily!! Your first heron photo is wonderful! What a great sight for you to enjoy! Great shots of the wren and Lord Byron too!!

Pelle, great catches on the vultures! My crows are chasing the eagles and vultures here, but what's funny to see is when the little Tree Swallows dive at the crows at the feeder because the nest is a few feet away.

I'm so behind on downloading my photos. This Oriole looked like it was as tired of the rain as I am.

Some of the older Orioles are spreading their wings to either keep warm or keep off the rain.

You all have posted up some fine images!!! Well done!
Although the pics are good...I have to agree about the Turkey Vulture....that thing is just ugly!! LOL

lagerfran - Great shot of the owls!! I am still waiting for my op with an owl..;^(

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Nanny, your oriole is so cute. Maybe the perch on your feeder is too close to the feeding hole. Or maybe you have finicky birds. My orioles won't touch orange slices or grape jelly where others in other areas flock to them.

Lagerfran, fantastic photo of your owls. Good grief, I'd be so excited to see these birds that I'd probably forget to lift the camera. Congratulations on this great capture, I think it was worth the wait!

Marlton, NJ

Lager, Outstanding pic of those beauties!! Thanks so much for posting it!!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Woooow! I agreed with Pelle, the Owls are awesome!!!! I think I'd faint if I saw them in person.

It's been a busy day here with so much activity I can barely keep up with it...Whew! The Goldfinches have been investigating "I Spying" the Coneflowers already...impatient for the seeds and they are just starting to have a single bloom on them...silly birds! Tonight I spent about an hour on our patio watching about a dozen fly from the thistle feeders, to the birdbath, or over to the honeysuckle eating aphids or checking out the coneflowers. It was quite a show!
Here's a couple of garden pics...
