Yes, very beautiful. An unusual shade of pink. Congrats Nan.
Lilies 2010 - Part 2
Great photos TP! Mind if I ask what kind of camera and lens you used?
My first lily of the season bloomed today, but I was too busy to get a pic. It's a pumilum. Will try to get a photo tomorrow.
very nice color
Using my ole' digital Kodak.
Hmmm. Maybe I should trade mine in. I used to take great pics using my manual old Nikon and a macro lens and tripod, but can't figure out how to do a da_n thing with my digital camera, and it's supposed to be a good one.
wow...that just glows!
nice everyone
Its not such a bad job and the lily will bloom next year.
If youve never moved a lily before,be sure to use a fork.I have sliced bulbs in half using a spade.
Oh I know about that...I have sliced more than my shre of bulbs. I have cried over a couple of them! lol
That must have been bad.
Not pretty! Last fall I wanted to move ARENA...and dang it if I hit get it. I still planted the pieces and now I am waiting to see if it made it. It was such a pretty one though not real vigorous. It always seems to be the ones that you only have 1 of, for some reason.
Of course it is ~ Murphy's Law.
Red Galaxy is gorgeous. Love the speckles and color.
Perennial, I have the same problem, digital camera wise, in wide shots, especially in sun. Closeups are fine, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong (OK, Donna, read the manual).
Ge, I am so grateful to you. I think you were the one who suggested using a fork instad of a spade, and I have happily moved many lilies without losing 1! Previously, I would dig but couldn't get in far enough (and watch the bulbs diminish as the years went by) or I would spear bulbs (another really good way to diminish them!) I know that you probably think it's a little thing, but it makes a world of difference!
Sandnsea, lovely colors!
Donna
After doing some looking and comparing I think my pink one may be Ceres instead Elodie. I am going to change the above post.
You are welcome Donnamac.I learned the fork trick on Daves.
Makes me anxious to see mine.Gotta wait a few weeks.
Those are wonderful Sandnsea
Wow...absolutely gorgeous Sandandsea2.
Thanks, ge1836 and tpnursery
Yes, Ge, but you also passed it on. I love learning things that make gardening easier!
Does anyone know anything of this company? http://www.liliesfromthevalley.com/
Looks like they only sell in Canada right now.
I order from The Lily Nook.I have ordered 2 times and not any more. There is an extra $30.00 charge on top of regular shipping.
I can find similar bulbs from the US where there is no extra charge.
The Lily Nook charges $15 for a phyto certificate, there is a cost for that certificate anywhere outside the US you could order from. The other charge is for shipping to get to you, which we all pay here. I've never had the Lily Nook charge me $30 for a phyto. Somewhere near that for a total (phyto + shipping cost). If a $30 above shipping cost to you was charged, I think there was a mistake made. I have ordered from them several times and never paid a price like that.
If you order on your own from an outside the US company, I always feel like I should have a rather large order to make it worthwhile. Otherwise, I get friends to join me, bring down the cost and splitting the phyto. Just a thought.
You are right it was $15. I made sure the order was large .It was all short asiatics. They had the best selection.
The Lily Nook is great if they happen to carry those special lilies you just can't find elsewhere. They have a nice selection of downfacing lilies that I love so much. The bulbs I ordered a couple of years ago were large and very good quality. Most of them put up two stalks each. When I thinned them out most again put up two stalks. Crazy guys! They should put on a good show this year, if it ever stops raining!
so no one knows anything about Lilies from the Valley?? I know they only sell within Canada ... maybe I could find a friend whom I could trust to RESHIP the box to me...(at my expense of course). Looking at the sale prices just seems like a good deal for someone willing to give the bulbs a year to bounce back. I'm patient...((sometimes)) ~LOL~
I checked GardenWatchdog and they have no rateings.
