Thought for the day Number Seven
Great quote, DP!
Here is one my sister just sent me.
"I would be the most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves." - Anna Quindlen
Perfect, as we've been discussing what to do about the fact that we are out of room on our bookshelves, and have no more wall space to add more! LOL I think I have a bookshelf (or three) in every room of the house except the kitchen and bathroom (and I used to have one in the kitchen, before our dog took up residence in that spot!).
Good to hear from you Angie. Hope all is well in Mackinaw.
Pretty osteospermum kwanjin, mine have almost stopped blooming for the time being. They were certainly prolific a few weeks ago.
Thanks, they are a new addition.
DP, I thank you for the new page. I was worried about some of our dial up friends.
Great quote, by Nixon, and oh so true!
bookerc, I was kind of glad when my ES appropriated my Heinlein collection and moved them to his room. He tells me that "Starship Troopers" is required reading in the Air Force.
Sadly, DH makes most of my books live out in the cabin, and I never have enough room for all the books I have. Sigh.
Kwan, that was a beautiful Haiku poem. Nice flower too!
Okay, my quote fits with this busy time for me

I love the T.R. quote, DP. Makes you think.
Found this on an email from a classmate (35 years is a long time). It cracked me up, because when I was in High School . . .

"Whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger."
Somebody has probably done this one before but it bears posting again.
Also...
"Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves."
Like both of them, kwan. I hadn't heard the second one before. Makes sense though!

I guess, that every one is on summer vacation or wrapped in in Graduation stuff. But I can't resist posting a couple of these Thoughts.
God's post it notes:
"Don't let your worries get the best of you;
Remember, that Moses started out as a basket case."
"When you get to your wit's end,
You'll find God lives there."
"Coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous."
"God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage."
"Prayer: don't give God instructions,
Just report for duty!"
"The task ahead of us, is never as great
as the Power behind us."
"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.
It's about learning to dance in the rain."
These were some post it's from God, that a friend sent to me after she heard about my most recent fall. I liked them and thought I'd share them.

Jules, I did not hear about your most recent fall. What happened? So far so good. I have not fallen in over two months. Yea. I read an article about wearing trifocals and people falling. I do wear trifocals. They suggested getting just glasses for far and use them for walking. Something about the trifocals interfering with depth perception. I have an appointment with my eye specialist to look into this. Maybe sunglasses because i usually do not walk in the dark.

That is a great one SW.
Love it, SW! I needed that last semester, when I was working with Jr. High kids. LOL
BookerC, I understand the sentiment. I love working with kids of all ages. Middle School aged kids are so impressionable. : - )
To paraphrase one of my favorite R.A. Heinlein quotes, The best school, is on a log with the student at one end and the teacher at the other. : - )
Kids respond to personal, positive attention. Of course you almost have to whack them on the head to get their attention first. LOL! Food helps get their attention. Even still I loved working with kids. I miss it.
Thanks Sharon, being sort of star struck all my life, I am very fond of Galileo. : - )
Here's a new one for today.

ROTFLOL!!!
HA! DP, that is rich! Guess I just lost my #1 argument for being a genius. . . LOL
Good to "see" you, BTW. ;) Thought of you several times last week, when Justin wore his pirate shirt, and when the boys asked me to help them find a better way to hang their pirate flag in their room. It did fine until we started using the ceiling fans.
They both said to tell you hi!
Angie
HI!! back! Use the ceiling fan for making the flag wave!!!!
Good one DP! You have been missed.
My kids used the glow in the dark stars on their ceiling fans. Circular light when turned on in the dark. I want some myself, except painted on. : - )
BookerC, just be glad they only hung the flag from the fan, and didn't try to take a ride on it! LOL!
You know I was watching that episode of Bozo the clown when that brat ripped off his wig, or was it his nose? The show was canceled right after that. Bozo wasn't being laughed at because he was a clown but because he was humiliated on live tv.
Which just goes to show you how fleeting fame can be. Also how you can never live some things down. My goodness that was what, about 40 years ago?
Sorry I couldn't resist commenting.

They actually hadn't hung it FROM the fan. It was on the wall, but when the fan was going, it kept coming down on them in the middle of the night, which spooked them. LOL
Never did figure out the best way to hang it. They wanted it sideways, not hanging with the long side down, but there are only hanging holes (grommets?) on one short side.
BookerC, you can use poster putty along the side that doesn't have the grommets to stick it to the wall. It won't damage the cloth or the wall.

Is poster putty the stuff that you knead in your fingers first? If so, I've had trouble with it leaving greasy stains on both paper and cloth in the past. :( Maybe they've improved it since then, though.
Great quote, Kwanjin!
DesertPirate, so glad you are back. No quote today, just ' I LOVE YOU ALL", all coming your way. My angels are hovering overhead on each one of you just in case you need help.
I have as big week coming up because son and his family are finishing the move to Spokane. Started in January when son moved and now the children are out of school, the house is sold and now it is just a matter of days. My heart is hurting but it is best for our son and his family. Attached is a photo of my son's new son that will traveling down the road on Tuesday. I will just have to find cheap flights to Spokane. This is Luke Michael Gottschalk. My son is from my first husband. He died at the age of 42 from heart disease. My son is 45 and this is his first child. He is an Internist Doctor and was always to busy to get married. Married a wonderful young lady with two daughters Natalie 10 and Megan 13. Hard for them also because they have gone to school with the same students since kindergarten. So it is going to be a rough week for all. Just keep me and my family in your warm thoughts. This is a photo of Baby Luke today sitting up for the first time. Thank you God for all the new technology. I can actually seem him every day on skype
Great quote Kwanjin! : - )
BookerC, they sell the stuff at walmart in the school supply section. No kneeding required. No stains, either.
I'll be keeping you and the family in my thoughts and prayers, Sharon.
