DAILY PICS VOL. 319

Memphis, TN

I had been watching a Robin's nest under my neighbor's roof overhang for several weeks. A couple of days ago, I was looking out my back door and I kept hearing a strange little noise. It was close by, I could tell. Then I looked down. This baby Robin was on my handrail, just beside my doorknob. It showed no fear of me, so I slowly opened the door, talked to it, fed it a little and took pictures.

Sparrows are quite excitable little folk. On this particular day, the Mockingbird had been terrorizing them. They became jumpy at the least little noise. The birds in this picture are exactly as they were when the shot was taken. The rope was Photoshopped in.

Congrats on the new warblers, burd. I'm thin on warblers. Probably should take a trip to the woods in the eastern part of the state, but I just love the wide open spaces and always end up west. Had 3 species of buntings at the house yesterday-- Lazuli, Painted and Indigo. Pic of the Lazuli. Don't get many here, but there was an outbreak in OK last spring and several have been spotted this year.

Thank you for the new thread Mrs_Ed. How wonderful to find the Robins nesting in your lilac bush. How soon will the lilac bloom up there? Adel love, love that Tree Swallows in the bird house. I love the sight of 'em Swallows swooping back and forth and chattering all the while. Duc, I adore those close-up pics. of them on last thread. Oh man! don't these tread move fast!
Burd, congrats on your big list of new/various Warblers sighting. I'm so envious! Red, 3 species of Buntings, may I please have just one? Mittsy the Wild Turkey pic. is a nice find. HMM, you've added a different 'flares' into our birding world. I really enjoyed the Sparrows antics, the Starlings beauty. Those two captions kept me laughing, laughing & I thank you.

Wasn't it kind of him to sing for me?

This is only the second time I've seen one of these, and the first was very distant. I was so happy this fellow gave me a very good and fairly close-up view.

A few days ago I saw a bunch of mud by the vent. When I looked to see if it was a wasp nest look at what I saw.

Beautiful shots Tiger!!

Amy, I believe that is a swallow.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

I thought tree swallows were cavity nesters, which would indicate this was either a barn or cliff or something??

Marlton, NJ

Yes, not a tree swallow,

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Probably an Eastern Phoebe, though the pic isn't clear enough to be 100% certain.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Remembering my Eastern Phoebe nest under my garage's eave last year. I suspect it maybe a Phoebe. Amy, does its song sound like "feabeeeeee"?
