We are really getting some great photos now! Seems like everyboady is strating to get their summer arrivals and that makes for lots of fun here on the Birdwatching Forum!
I am happy to say I had my FOS Baltimore Oriole today!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A very handsome male it was. I was not quick enough to get the camera after I saw him thru the window but soon I am sure. I heard one this morning while walking the dog, so I knew they were here!
Okay, now the PIleated Woodpecker has been coming everyday this week. Earlier today he came by and was just carrying on as if to say 'hey...I'm out here'! I was busy out front planting some annual so I had to miss that photo op. But I was lucky enough to get this shot on Tuesday.
DAILY PICS VOL.314
Wow Nanny, nice start with the Pileated!! DH just said "nice Pilator"...lol!! Thanks for the new thread and I always love seeing your Blue Jays!
Mrs. Ed...congrats...I am so jealous and also jealous of Nannys Baltimore! But the Indigo Buntings are back, just have to get some pics!
Wonderful start with you pilator, Nan. lol. Ah the Rosebreasted Grosbeak is so proud looking, and he has all the right to be! LOL. BTW, I'm jealous of everyone's Buntings, I haven't seen one. NOT a ONE! :((
Lily, let's face it, we all have beautiful birds that migrate past our cameras, but there's always more, more, more that we'd love to see!LOL Thank goodness for this Bird Watching thread so we can enjoy beautiful photos of them all.
Nanny, that's your best photo of the Pileated-congratulations! He/she is a beauty! And, congratulations on the Oriole too. These sure are great birds. I love hearing all of them singing. Great job on your jays-love that blessing one-cute. Thanks for starting the new thread off with such great pictures.
Rose, your Grosbeak is a beauty too. What a great capture.
This female House Sparrow has been spending most of the time in one of the houses-I know I shouldn't allow it, but they're living creatures and I just can't mistreat them. Besides there's peaceful days now that the Tree Swallows have their own houses.
Great shot nanny! You are so lucky to have the Pileated coming to your feeder! Congratulations on the FIrst of Season Baltimore Oriole!
Thanks so much for starting the new thread!
Mrs Ed, Beautiful Rose-breasted Grosbeak!! Congrats!!
Rose, Can't wait to see pics of your Indigo Bunting!
Sweet pic duc! Love that Phoebe!
I think those bbs are so cute when they are all speckly like that.
Hey, that's SOME lens you have getting a picture of the grosbeak in my yard.
Aww, Rose that baby Blue is so adorable!!!!
Great shot of the Chipping Sparrow too!
I Love Miss Kickbutt!!!
Mrs. Ed...Now how do you have a RBG and I don't ????? Must be those peanuts....LOL
Nice ones Rose & duc!!
LOL at 'Pilator' too Rose. ^_^
Thanks everyone for the nice remarks. I was holding my breath that one of the 3 shot I got was a good one for this thread! The others will be one the Awful thread...LOL
Mrs Ed, I apologize for giving the credit for your wonderful Grosbeak photo to Rose. (Tks Rose, guess I was having one of my many "senior moments")
Rose, your baby blue is adorable! What fun you must be having as you photograph them. Love that Chipping Sparrow photo too. Looks like he was posing for you. Love that Ms Kick Butt photo-she's gorgeous.
Nanny, only three shots of the Pileated to get one good one? You were darn lucky, I'd have had that button pressed forever!
I don't think I've seen a Pileated this year. Thanks for sharing. dellrose, although I'm apprehensive about their safety, can't wait for my baby blues to fledge. 12 days old today. I held the pink diner in my hand today with some mealworms to see if I could get Daddy to land on it while I held it. He couldn't quite get the nerve.
But he did get a big mouthful when I placed them in the other feeder.
Red, looks as if your Papa Blue got it down to an art! As if he has made up his mind, one trip to the grocery--cover all the hungry mouths at home. lol. Great pics. everyone. Okay, I'm ready for more migrating birds. lol
Beautiful shot of Daddy Blue red!!
That's a darling shot Red! I have no doubt he will be eating out of your hand in no time. I hope you get to see the babies fledge...ours were early, only 15 and 16 day old but so far they all seem to be doing fine.
I had to move the meal worm feeder since the Sparrows were eating them faster than the Blues. It is now right outside my kitchen window where I can monitor and feed very easily. I wasn't sure if they would come so close but so far Papa Blue isn't having a problem with us being on the other side of the window just a few inches away. (Margaret, you were right)!!
Great start to the new thread, Nanny.....best shot ever and I am SO jealous that you get to see him/her everyday!
Mrs. Ed....love the expression on the grosbeak. I've never seen one but I can enjoy yours!
Dellrose....I love your Miss Kickbutt. I have a pair here and they are real characters; just bold as brass and always entertaining! Cute shot of the baby blue, too. Mine are on their 1st nest with (maybe) hatchlings. It's been too cold for me to open the box up this week but the feeding behavior has definitely changed.
Red....gorgeous shot of daddy blue. My pair came as close as they ever have today. They were tolerating me sitting on the deck 5' from the dish....maybe because it is cold here and they really want the worms!
Dellrose....I have had a dickins of a time with a "winter" robin that refuses to go home. He is a total pig and bullies the docile blues. So, I have taken to sitting on the deck because he is skittish and they are not. I like your solution, though....I'll have to try to rig that up as I have a kitchen window that looks out over the deck.
Here's Mama, seemingly listening to me talking to her......
Rose, So glad that worked out in moving the feeder!
Sacar, Great shots of your Bluebird parents! Hope to see some pics of your fledges soon!
How many people do we have with Bluebirds nesting now? It's great that it has increased so much over the years.

Gosh, love all these blue bird shots. Of course I don't get them here in town and with all the house sparrows around, I"m glad of it. Re, I really like that mealworm feeder.
Nanny, I bet your RBG will be there tomorrow… remember, I was a day or so ahead of you with the thrasher. Besides, I haven't seen an oriole yet. Not like they are here long.
Anyone up north seen white-crowned sparrows yet?
No white-crowned sparrows yet! No tree swallows or orioles either.......hopefully soon, though....
Fabulous nestbox shot, Chisolm!!
That is a cute shot Frank!!
Wonderful shots Frank!! Can't wait to see the fledges!
Nanny, Lovely shot of your Baltimore Oriole!!
LOL!!
HAHA.....love that, Nanny!!
ha. hope that he was not getting an answer, Nanny. He's very handsome! I think that one needs a caption. "come here often?"
Frank, I've been trying to get a picture of my grackles doing that showoff thing. It's hilarious!
The Great Crested Flycatcher has been around the last few days. He disappeared during the winter once it got real cold, where normally he would remain in the area. I also saw another one once I got to work this morning. Here is one of the Mockingbird babies. They have two or three and have been very busy chasing after and feeding them the last few days.
