Nanny, Super shot of the Pileated Woodpecker. lol good one of the Oriole, checking the Chickadee. I have my Oriole's feeder up since last week, now I think, I'll have to wait another week or so, before they get here.
Mrs-Ed, no sign of the White-crowned Sparrow for me either, or the Chipping Sparrow. But have the White-throated Sparrow, and have seen a Tree Swallow today.
Frank, you got the front end of the Grackle display, and I got the back end today.:)

That is a cute shot Nanny...love Mrs. Ed's caption for it!

Sacar and Frank...love those BB shots and that Grackle is a crack up! Good luck Sacar on changing the meal worm set up. I had a Baby and the Mama Blue show up too!!

Darling shots GP!

Burn...LOL!! Our White-throated have left the area but the White-crowns are still here! Love that Grackle and little Junco!

I had a Grackle do this weird thing right in front of me while singing some song. Made me feel like someone had just flipped me the bird...LOL!!

ROTFLOL, was there a male nearby displaying as well?

Marlton, NJ

GP, That Mockingbird fledge is adorable!! Nice shots!!

Burn, Great catch of the Grackle puffing all up and out! Cute Junco. That is the first time I've seen a Goldfinch on a peanut silo!

LOL Rose, I believe your right. Your being flipped off (bird style).

South Hamilton, MA

Fantastic woodpecker. Happy to say that DH saw a red bellied checking out the feeder, so we aren't doing our April takedown.

Glad to hear that Iris! Those Red-bellied Woodpeckers are SO Entertaining!

South Hamilton, MA

We can hear them drumming in the woods. No sign of the piliated--not our fault that the dead piece of birch tree fell over, guy. You would knock holes in it.

Sandusky, OH

Great start to the new thread Nanny! Super shot of the Pileated!!
Mrs_Ed congrats on the R-b Grosbeak making his debut!
Duc, wow that has to be the best House Sparrow shot I have ever seen!!
Dellrose, beautiful shot of the female R-b WP!!
Wow, a lot of you have the Bluebird's! Nice shots all of them!
GP, nice shots of your Mockingbird fledgling!
Burn, nice shots! Great capture of the Grackle! My Junco's left about 10 days ago.
Ive been hitting the Marsh lately, and have not been able to see who's been visiting the feeder! But I do fill it and the birdbath every morning. I do have a picture of a Chipping Sparrow during the wet weather we had last weekend...look's like more of the same for this weekend, but warmer.
Btw...I was unable to get the house I had mentioned...and will not be moving. I had a roofer take a look at the roof and it was in much sadder shape than the owner had eluded to. An expense I can do without as he wouldn't budge off his price. No condolences needed... I look at things as it is ( must not the one).

On the subject of bird migrating. I've had a pair of Brown Headed Nuthatches here all winter long. They finally left last weekend sometime when we had a big storm. Should someone see my nuthatch. Please let me know. Hack, are yours still there in Ga.?

New feeder going up hoping to supplement feeding for those birds that are nesting around the garden.

Burd, it must not meant to be. Best wishes with your house hunting.

Burd, Nice shot! Sorry about the house but better to not have that expense.

Lily, Beautiful colors!

Your right Burd...that must not have been the one. Just keep looking...it will find you!

Cute baby maocker GP!

Burn...nice ones! GF on the peanut feeder with the downy... is that usual?

Nice one nanny!
My male Red-bellied Woodpecker cam in for some suet today too.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Red, love your daddy bb. Keep holding that feeder for him and maybe he'll get used to you being there.

Rose, glad you figured out how to get the worms to daddy bb. Great shot of him looking at you. Enjoyed your Grackle too!

Sacarvounis, love your bb couple too. Gosh, I haven't seen any here for weeks!

Frank, love your bb family. The lens of yours sure gets us right up to the babies. Great shot of the thrasher too. That Grackle is really showing off.

Nanny, wow, you really got a great photo of your oriole. He's a beauty-congratulations! Great shot of your Red-bellied.

GP, love your photo of the Mockingbird baby-adorable. Great one of dad feeding too. Hope you get pictures of the flycatcher soon.

Burn, your Grackle is really beautiful when he's showing off. Sweet junco, finch and wp too!

Burd, I'm sorry your house wasn't the right one for you. At least you found out about the roof before you moved in. Elvis and friends will be relieved to see you. Your sparrow photo is gorgeous.

Lily, that new feeder with the clematis is beautiful.

I'm finally seeing some of the Red-winged Blackbirds. Here's a female.

Wow Duc that first Tree Swallow pic is tremendous!
The Bullocks Orioles are gorgeous.
Do you get a lot of Red-winged Blackbirds each year?

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Sniff sniff, speaking of all the 'lil lovely sparrows, my White Troated and Chipping Sparrows may have left me-- also. But on the happy note, my little Brown Headed Nuthatch is back. Wonderful pic everyone. I especially love, love those fledglings. Can't any thing be cuter than those babies!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Here is the mentioned near-missing Nuthatch. lol. Not one, but both are back and they appear to be so hungry. They chased my Chickadees of off the feeder as to assure they'll get their shares. lol.

Pelle, we just see a few Red-winged at our home, but they are all over our area.

Lily, your Nuthatch is beautiful. Be glad you're even seeing him. Our White-breasted Nuthatch still hasn't even shown up.

Marlton, NJ

Nice pic Lily! Can't wait to see more of them.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Duc, I'm I'm. (very glad to see their return). The reason you haven't seen the Whitebreasted Nuthatches because they're still lingering here. lol. Thank you on the your compliment on the new Sunflower feeder. I'm trying to entice the Brown Thrasher with some sunflower seeds and peanuts, but apparently they are NOT interested. The Cardinals however, appreciate it.

I just love, love this time of year. These love birds seem to travel in pair.

They do Lily. Nice one!

Oh I just missed an incredible opportunity. I was done shooting photos for the day so I just went back out on the porch, (without the camera card) and sat down in front of the camera. All of a sudden a Red-tailed Hawk comes barreling into the yard just 15 feet in front of me and nails a squirrel !!! I must have made a move and it scared the hawk off without the squirrel. Darn!!!
The squirrels was completely in shock and just sat there not moving. I saw the hawk was still hovering close by so I started to go slowly toward the squirrel. His left front paw was injured and he was really stunned. At first he was just slowly moving in circles but as I got closer he started to move away at a slow pace, I just wanted to get him near cover so the hawk wouldn't come back and get him right away. But wow what an incredible sight it was that unfolded right in front of me, the power and beauty of the hawk was amazing!! I'm so glad I at least witnessed it.
Here is a pic of one of the Red-tailed Hawks from earlier today.

Oh that had to be soooo cool seeing that hawk. With all our squirrels I am really surprised that we don't get them doing that here...wishful thinking on my part!

Wish the mocker would come back here...maybe!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

How cool to witness the Hawk in action, sorry you didn't have access to the camera to capture the moment. Pelle, my neighbors really try to keep the squirrels under control. On my side though, I've named mine, so they're relatively safe. Here is Lord Byron the Redheaded Woodpecker is mightly pleased that I switched the feeder back to one that's squirrel-deterrent. (It's spring-loaded, thus the squirrels really frustrated with this one).

Memorized the red bellied wp drum on Cornell site. I can hear them in the woods today.

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Love the hawk shot, Pelle.
Duc very nice details in the Red-winged Blackbird.
Not much happening in the yard today, it's windy and cold. I only got a pic of the female Brown-headed cowbird.

Yes. you can clearly see why it is named Red-tailed Hawk in that pic. Update on the Mocker babies. Two were together most of today.
