Hi Marti. Sorry you can't play today....grin We had a little shower early this morning, but looks like it is clearing up and gonna have a little sun.

I found those yellow lilies at Wal-mart for $2.50 per pot. Not a bad price for a perennial bulb.

It has been raining for 4 days now. At times we have sprinkles, than thunder, than downpour. Keep your fingers crossed for me. We are surposed to have sun over the next three days.

I sure hope you do. I know you are chomping at the bit to get stuff done in your new garden. It will be such a pretty happy place when you are finished.

Good morning ladies! Love those lillys Moon, I have some orange ones, they are up about half way to grown, so shouldn't be long before buds set. Hey Marti, hope it stops raining so you can play in the yard soon.

Moon, those lilies are such a beautiful yellow! Maybe I should look around at Walmart. Or maybe not!!! Pretty Siberian ones also.

I am going to pick up some plants today that were free on Craigslist. I am not sure what she has. She is selling some but has some freebies also. Those are the ones I want! Not interested in cucumbers or melons because their vines overtake everything.

Our water has a lot of algae now and that is what it tastes like!!! It is pretty strong. They are trying to fix it but haven't yet. Our water usually has some 'flavor.' It took me a couple of years to get use to it when I moved from Madison, WI to Indy. WI has such wonderful tap water and clear lakes.

Well, my cabin fever got the best of me and I trucked off to Lowe's and Wally World for some broozing. I found some plants that I'm adding to my want list or at least to think about adding to the garden.

1. Waterperry speedwell zone 4 - 8
2. Alabama Sunrise Foamy Bells - zone 4 - 9
3 Summer Sorbet Caryopteris - zone 6 - 9 and deer resitant, attachs butterflies.
Flowers are shades of blue with variegated leaves.

Made it home before rain started up again!!!

Send some of that rain to Louisiana. Our farmers are irrigating there little six inch corn trying to keep it a live.

Is it cold in your part of La., Moon. Temps here are real chilly and supposed to be down to forty tonight.

Our low tonight is supposed to be about 50-52 with highs in the high 70's low 80's for tomorrow. Not really any rain in sight here until Thursday or Friday. We have a pretty steady NW wind clocking about 10-12MPH. Really very nice after this morning's little shower.

Been discovering little odds and ends of wind damage from the weekend's storm. I am sad to say my pretty little upside-down tomato, with three pingpong ball sized tomatoes got snapped off at the stem. RATS!

Jim glad to hear you can prune knock outs and they will still bloom. Marti, those plants sound pretty and know you have a vision for them. Venice, you know you won't be happy unless you get one new addition for your garden this year. Hi Ya JJ , Smilely and Lynnie! I'm envious of those raised beds, now thats the way to go if soil has been depleted.

I have a slightly raised bed in the front of my house. I noticed it dries out faster than the other ones. I forget that until my plants are flopped over.

Moon, sorry about your tomato plant. It was looking so healthy with huge blooms. Maybe you can try another one.

I just have to show you what I got free today. My neighbor is gone so most are still in my trunk.

This is what my little trimmed mulberry sprout looked like a few years ago.

In #1, I know the one is a hosta. She said that the larger ones both grow different colors of flowers but didn't know what they were. Don't know if these need sun or shade, shade for the hosta of course.

In #2, there are 3 in the plastic grocery bag: several violets, that verigated ground cover, and those pretty blue flowers. I assume all of these need to be in the shade.

I can tell you that the bottom plant in pic 1 is portulacca, rose moss or a sedum. kinda hard to say for sure. The little blue flowers look kinda like a lobelia

Moon, the leaves are too thin for a sedum or moss rose. I think once I get them in the ground you can see more what they are.

I was just about ready to start planting them. Then I remembered about that scattered frost tonight. I gave them a little water and bagged them. The next 2 days the low will be 45 degrees. I guess that is good enough for me to plant then.

I go to the foot doctor tomorrow. I better work on my caluses, soak my feet, and trim my nails and so I have pretty feet! They are never pretty but better would be a better word. Doing the shoveling last week and today with my right foot has agravated where it was broken. You would think that it would be strongly healed by now. It has been about 1 1/2 years since I broke it. When I saw my doctor last she called it residual arthritis since it was broken at the joint.

Sorry it is troubling you Venice. It takes so long for foot injuries to completely heal.

Moon, you know that area where you had all those weeds growing, with all kinds of critters and things? What does it look like now?

We lucked out on the storm damage. No problems. The tornado that tore up Tallahua and Yazoo City had to have passed right over our area but was so high we just got a little wind.

Jim, thank goodness. I think somone was watching over you!

We are working on it V. It is full of brambles and blackberries....DH wants to harvest the Blackberries before we tear them out....DUH.

AND the king snake is hanging out there...hopefully making many meals out of moles.

Blackberries!!! I need Blackberries. Waaaaa!! Moon. Your tearing them out????

Oh yes Marti, I am afraid we are. They are growing IN two different beds and just can not stay.....until DH gets his berries....then it is the burn pile for them.

I would love to give some of them a home. Hint! hint!

Marti, they are wild vines, but if you want them, after DH gets his blooming blackberries, I will dig them up for you. It will be 4 or 5 weeks before they are ready. Just give me your address in C or D mail and they will be yours.

Moon, they mate in the spring. Have you seen any little kings?????

Hey Jim..Do you remember what Carolyn said to spray the tomatoes with as soon as we planted them to keep that leaf spot away?
Peroxide and something I believe. Wrote it down but think littlest GS used that noetbook for coloring..lol can't find it.

Venice it's pretty common to end up with arthritis after an injury like that. Hope it's not too painful!
it's cold & windy here, thought the kids were gonna blow away outside but I guess I weighed 'em down enough with ice cream ;) my fat albert in a bucket blew over :) that kind man with the landscaping truck offered to stand it upright for me.

No Venice....I tend to avoid intentionally seeking out the snakes. I am pleased they are here, but never disturb them without reason....grinj

Lynnie, is that the brush guy that offered help?

By the way. If anyone is trying to prevent snakes on their property there is some stuff called Dr. Naylors Snake Away. You sprinkle it around the property especially the fence line and snakes will not come near. The guy that spays my property for ticks, fleas and spiders was telling me about it. He say it really does work. He has customers that buy it and spread it around the outside of the house and patio to keep snakes away. And one customer uses it around his greenhouse. It will keep any snake including rattlers and cottonmouths away.

Marti, you have rattlers and cottonmouths around where you live?

Not in my yard, but in the hills around here. We are near the Daniel Boone National Forest. I love rattlesnakes. I invite everyone I see home for dinner. Lunch. Snack. We do have copperheads in the area. I live in a subdivision. Most people here have any where from 1/2 acre to 20 acres. A few place bigger than that. I live less than a mile from Lake Cumberland.

Good to know Marti, I put moth balls in sheds to keep snakes at bay.

I gotta get some water on it, it won't get in the ground until Sunday probably!

At least he didn't charge ya to give Fat Albert a boost....grin
