Bird Watching Daily Pics Vol. 312

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Burn...I just love those Sapsuckers and that Downy is too precious!! Love his expression!

Pelle...the Blues seem to be in a hurry and always fledge on the short side! I think the female is anxious to raise 4 broods like last year! I know it just drives me nuts watching and hearing the whole process!

The Orchard Oriole returned for some grape jelly!

Walked down the street to the area by the lake I go to and got a couple of real cute shots of a Chipping Sparrow who was paying me no mind!

Beautiful shots Pelle and Nanny! Nanny, I hope you get to see the Orchard Oriole...they are very loud so you won't miss them if they are around. (btw...you are doing a great job with your new camera)!

Great looking bird Rose!

Not the best shot but here is the male Red-bellied Woodpecker.

Northern Cardinal (male), looks like he may be molting. The squirrels have really beat up this feeder.

Those are both nice shots Pelle!

Can you tell it's been pouring? This guy isn't too pleased with the soupy jelly!

That's cute Rose!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Jelly soup! What a great idea. I was out of sugar this morning. I could have filled the feeder with jelly soup. Not that any orioles are coming to it. They're up in the Mulberry tree though.

Rose, outstanding shot of the Orchard Oriole on that reed or twig or whatever. I like all your photos but I'm just aching to get a good orchard oriole one myself, so that one really stands out.

Lily_love, I'm so surprised that the swallows are still working on those nests. That's a major project. Congrats on the Loon too! Never seen one.

Pelle, nice grackle. Mine killed another bird today. I saw the female gathering nesting material the other day, so I'm guessing that's why they are being so crazy aggressive. It's weird how they take them to the pond and eat them in the water.

Nanny, I think you are now Queen of the Chipping Sparrows.

Reddirtretiree, love Peaches! She's a beauty.

Burn, cool sapsucker photos. I usually see them when the weather is bad. Don't know where they go on a sunny day.

Today is a beautiful sunny day, and I haven't taken one good photo. Had a couple that I hadn't downloaded from yesterday though. This female Summer Tanager.

Beautiful shots Elphaba!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Those are both nice shots Elphaba but that Tanager is outstanding. I saw one here last summer and sure hope I get to see more. You are in such a great area to see such a wide variety of birds that are not normally seen in this area. I also wanted to let you know how much I enjoy seeing all of your birds.

Our Goldfinches are really getting some color!

Good pics GP! Love the Ibis and and others!

Sandusky, OH

Great shots everyone!!

I have finally found a new home to move to, and its puts me even closer to Sheldon's Marsh and Old Woman's Creek.
And my new backyard is connected to a neighbor's 100+ acre's of wood's which are pretty much untouched.
Elvis & Co. will be fine as Ive told the neighbor's they will be seeing lots more birds. lol Don't worry they love them as we do. I will still try to post when I can, but when I move etc. there may be some downtime with internet.
Elvis must be ticked he won't return any of my e-mails. :(

South Hamilton, MA

What do you expect when he has been posing so nicely for you? Good luck at your new place.

Marlton, NJ

Sounds great Burd. Good Luck!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

GP...you have the very best fly-overs...love that Ibis!

Burd..congrats on the new home...don't stay away too long!

Cold and cloudy here today and the storm has left the ground saturated...April Showers Bring May Flowers!

Marlton, NJ

Yes Burd, I hope you will not be away long, we will really miss you!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

I've been away just a day and look at how many pics. I've missed! Great photos everyone. Red, I like your favorite Peaches. Rose the Orchard Oriole is new to me. Pretty ones!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Congrats burd! Sounds like it will be the ideal home for a birder.

WOW, love that orchard oriole Rose. And really nicely posed Mockingbird Elph! I know you'll all think I'll regret it, but I'd really like to get a Mockingbird in the yard this year. I've yet to see one in the states. had to go to MEXICO to see one. LOL.

Well this chest cold has gone on and on and seems to prevent me from taking many pictures. So I'll have to tell you of the fun sight this morning. The White-throated Sparrows are singing up a storm. So I went to open up the living room window behind me and there was a male Eastern Towhee scratching around under the hydrangeas. Would have been a nice close shot had I had my camera. We had an inch of rain and that seems to have made all the birds happy. More today, so Maybe some pix tomorrow.

Keep up the good work everyone! I appreciate all the pix, even if I don't comment.

A pair of Mallards explored our backyard for possible nesting place. Here is the female waiting on her mate as he was venturing further into the yard.

Mrs Ed, Hope your chest cold heals up soon. I had one for a long time too, they can really be debilitating.

Sweet female Mallard Lily!

Melbourne, FL

I don't think you'll regret getting a Mockingbird, Mrs_Ed. I love watching mine chasing crows and patrolling their territory. Here he is.

Silly Red-bellied Woodpecker landed in the neighbors shrub behind my fence.

No cropping on this one. I like it just like it is. White Ibis again. Have not seen a Bunting all morning....I think they are officially gone. I'll leave the feeder out a few more days, just in case.

Burd, sounds like you will enjoy your new house. I had a class yesterday and dinner guests, so didn't get many pics. Took one of the babies, but they wouldn't wake up. Normally if I make cheeping noises they open their mouths to be fed. Not today. Even touched them on the heads and they just slept. They are growing, getting darker and starting to grow feathers.

Lily I hope the Malllards nest for you...and you can get pics of the baby ducks!

Nice shots again GP and I love that Ibis (although a little jealous) I am still waiting to see the first Indigo!

Red the babies are adorable

Mrs. Ed...sorry to hear you aren't up to par...hope you get to feeling lots better real soon. I had just read your post about seeing the Towhee outside your window and I spotted this juvenile Orchard Oriole right outside my window!!

Thumbnail by dellrose
Marlton, NJ

Lily, That would be great if you had ducklings around. Nothing cuter than ducklings. :-)

Nice shots GP, love the Ibis! I have Mockingbirds here too but they seem to mainly come in for the bird baths.

Red, Those chicks are so sweet.

Rose, Beautiful juvy Orchard Oriole! Are you still seeing the high numbers of Goldfinch around like earlier?

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Hey Marna...open wide and say ahh!!! LOL!

Thumbnail by dellrose
Marlton, NJ

LOL, great shot Rose!! :-)))

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

We cross posted Pelle! The Goldfinches were down to just a few for a few weeks but they are coming back now...mostly ready for prime time. They always seem to vanish like this at the beginning of spring and then return with a "did you miss me ?" attitude!

Wonderful feeder shot Rose!!

Tiller, OR(Zone 8a)

Great! Ahhhhhhhhh, doncha just love spring??!!
