Here's one of my many California Quail.

This Bald Eagle flew by me with his catch so fast that I could hardly snap the picture before he was gone.

BEE- U -TEE - FULL oriole!

Still waiting here. DH comes home everyday and ask me if they have shown up yet!

Wild Rose, I am still shocked that the Pileated comes to my feeders! LOL

Lots of Chipping Sparrows around now making their little 'chippng' noise!

Thank Duc for the new thread. Nice start with your beautiful Bullock Oriole. I had but one Baltimore Oriole overwintered here, then a couple more passing by on their way North last week. I missed those 'purdy'. Adel, you both (Duc and Adel, I meant) have wonderful sighting of the Tree Swallows.
I couldn't resist this shot (before it turned and ignored me--lol). Male Northern Cardinal.

Gorgeous shot of the Bullock's Oriole Duc! The male Quail is another handsome bird. Thanks for starting the new thread!

Adorable little Chipping Sparrow nanny!

Adel, Love those beautiful Tree Swallows!!

Lily, Nice one of the Cardinal!!

From the Last thread

Nanny, You are so lucky with that Pileated!!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Stunning start to this thread Duc! That oriole shot is so clear I think I can actually tell what it would feel like. Amazing.

Nice chirper pic Nanny.

Adelbertcat, love the shiny green back of that tree swallow. They are so pretty.

Lily, I have that problem too. The birds think that if they ignore me, I'll go away. It's just rude!

Look what I got a picture of today!!! I've seen one once before, but this is my first picture and on a dark and terrible day too! A Scissor-tailed Flycatcher.

Elphaba........nice capture.

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks Adelbertcat.

He would not let me get close and then I realized why he was drawing me away. They had a nest! I took one pic of the nest and then left. I don't like to disturb nesting birds. I'm always afraid that I'll do something that will point them out to a predator or they will be looking at me instead of a real predator.

Lily, That is wonderful! Nice catch! The Scissor-tailed Flycatcher is so beautiful and on top of that you found their nest. Congratulations!!!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Elph, lol about the birds ignoring us human then think that we'd leave them alone. That was exactly my thinking. lol. Scissor tail-n-c nest? Oooh lucky you!

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Nanny, great photo of your sparrow.

Adel, great shots of the Tree Swallows too.

Lily, you're fortunate just to see a cardinal.

Elphaba, your Scissor-tailed is beautiful. Wow! You are lucky to be able to see the nest, but I'm like you, I wouldn't stay long either.

A little bit of photoshopping, and it's a nice sunny day, and the wires gone too . . .

My little bird bath failed as a bath; so it was converted into a feeder. These guys and gals liked the idea.

pretty blue jay nanny!

I returned to the bridge where the Cliff Swallows are building their nests. Their progress is painstaking slow after a week time. Everyone, please give these hard workers a cheering shout for their effort.

The uncommonly seen Common Loon was still in our area lake. I'm so happy. That's all for now 'til tomorrow evening. I'll shut the pc down due to bad storm coming to our area. Happy birding 'til we meet again.

Thanks Pelle. Be safe those in the path of the storm in our SE regions.

Good ones Lily! Go Cliff Swallows!!

I enjoy seeing everyones pictures. By now we would be seeing a lot of Goldfinches but I have only seen 1 pair and no hummingbirds yet : (
I did get a picture of one of the many Blue Jays we have.

Great start with the oriole. I have my feeder up, but haven't seen any around yet. Also have some millet out for the buntings, but no arrivals. We have a pair of Hairy WP's that seem to enjoy all the feeders-- even the HB nectar. Here is the female with a goldfinch.

A pic of Mama Bluebird. She is a lot more shy than Daddy, so I don't get as many pics. She stays busy feeding 6 babies.

And a pic of my favorite bird, Peaches. For those that don't know her history, she is an escapee that showed up at one of my feeders 6 years ago. Took me about a week to catch her. She is part of the family now and a great watch bird. She lets me know if anyone or any dog or cat is in the front yard.

Hi Missy, Very nice shot of the Blue Jay!

Red, Thats an adorable pic of the Downy! Mama Bluebird is looking good. Peaches is such a sweet, beautiful and intelligent looking bird. Glad she found you!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Thanks for the beautiful start Duc...your Oriole is just gorgeous! We had our first Orchard show up this morning but it is way too dark and overcast to get a shot of the beauty! Hoping the Baltimores will show up soon also!!

Nice shots on this new thread everyone! I would like to comment on them all but I know I would hit the wrong key on this danged computer and lose it all anyways!!

Here is an Eastern Meadowlark from a few days ago...they are nesting in our hayfields.

Thumbnail by dellrose
The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

The Red-winged Blackbirds are also nesting and have established a "no-fly zone" for any raptors that happen to fly over. They are also nesting on the farm in a wet area below the farm pond. Here is the female...

and here is the male displaying himself!

Our 5 Bluebirds fledged Thursday eve and all day yesterday. I think it was way too early...about 16 days on the oldest. It was a very long drawn out ordeal but thankfully they all made it and the parents are still coming to the mealworm cage for lots of worms. I hope to see the babes before too long. One of the babies landed on the front porch late yesterday, looked confused and then flew into the maple tree! Here is Papa Blue...hope I haven't already posted this pic!

Dud thanks for the new thread. Love those Orioles of yours.
Nanny, I usually see the Chipping Sparrow way before the White-throated, but this year has been very different. I have the White-throated and Song Sparrow here so far.
Adel, looks like TS babies are sure to follow.
Elphaba, nice catch on the Scissor-tail flycatcher, and yayyy on finding It's nest.
Lily those cliff swallow must be perfectionist, wanting things done right the first time.
Missey Marie, I'm sorry about your Goldfinches, I think they headed strait for my house. I've seen a great increase in the last couple of days. Cute Blue Jay.
Red I like that pic with the Hairy WP on the finch feeder :) and wonderful shot of that bluebird. Peaches is adorable, glad he got a good home.
Rose, such beautiful shots of your birds, love the Meadow lark.

I got a visit from a female Yellow-bellied Sapsucker yesterday afternoon.

Then in the evening, I got the male. And of course, it was overcast all day.

Beautiful shots Rose! The Eastern Meadowlark pic is gorgeous! I'm so happy to hear all the Bluebird fledges are okay; I wonder what made them go early. Glad a Dee stopped by for you, maybe now that they know what a great property you have they will come around more often.

Burn, I love that Sapsucker!! The Goldfinch are adorable and very nice shot of the Downy!!
