Though he's partially hidden in the reeds, this shot shows his wonderful color.
DAILY PICS VOL 310
Congrats on the new lens, Rose. You will have lots of fun with it. Love those tiny babies, red. Excellent pics in this thread.
Nanny, nice Bluebirds. The ones at my Mom's house never let me get near them.
Congrats on the Grouse, Tiger!
Good Grief, Granny Grunt… those videos of the titmouse are amazing. Look at how much hair they get!
Pretty quiet here lately… I'm awaiting the arrival of hummingbirds and rose-breasted grosbeaks.
Meanwhile, here's a little female American Goldfinch planning her entry to the pond.
GG, I love those video's!! What material is in the cage?
VA, Great job with the new lens!
Burd, Great variety of shots! the Bluebird is gorgeous!
Tiger, Congratulations on getting that wonderful pic of the Ruffed Grouse!! Love the California Quail and Red-winged Blackbird!
Red, Congratulations on all the hatchlings!! Wonderful shot!
Sweet shot of the Goldfinch Mrs Ed!
Thank you Red, for sharing your Blue Birds babies pics. The adult birds are amazing. Granny Grunt; that's awesome of the Tuffy and friends collecting nesting material. Thank you, thank you.
Wild Rose congrats on the new lens and wonderful sighting of the Eagles, Osprey and the chance-pileated in flight! Tigerlily, the Redwinged Blackbird is quite a handsome bird. Thank you for sharing pics. of some birds which I wouldn't find here such as the R.G. hen. Burd, interesting coloring to the Yellow Housefinch. Very nice catch on the Northern Flicker. Mrs_Ed, please remember to share more pics. of your migrants when they come through. I remember last year when I saw the Rose-breast grosbeak for the first time I think my hands were trembling I could have drop the camera then.
The Egret displays odd posture.
I wish I would soon begin seeing Orioles here! You folks continue to amaze me with the beautiful pictures you post.
Pelle, that is horse hair in the feeder. They have already emptied one container. This one will need refilled by the end of the week or earlier. Fortunately, yesterday, our local no kill animal shelter supplied me with a garbage bag full of it. They love it.
Yepper, Mrs. Ed. They really do stuff their beaks full. I love the one where it turns around and faces the camera with a beak full of hair. Looks like a bird Santa!
That's exactly what I thought, GG!
All the photos are so great!
Nanny, how lucky that the BB was so unafraid! and with your dog too!
Reddirtretiree, I can't even tell you how amazed I am by those photos.
VA_Wild _Rose, congrats on the new camera and on being able to figure out how to use it so fast. Those shots are great. I love the Great Blue flying and the osprey is just perfect.
Tigerlily, great red-winged blackbird shots. I was watching some females this morning that seemed to be gathering nest material. I didn't think they nested here. I haven't seen a male in weeks. Love the quail too.
Burd, that yellow finch is really cool! What a great thing to see and such a great photo.
Do any of you all combat House Sparrows by trapping and releasing them far away. If you do, how far away do you take them to release?
Hack
Beautiful shot lily! Your so lucky to have them!
Hack, Best place to release them would be Great Britain. ;-)
Lily, great job on the geese. Congrats (I think!) on the new addition. That photo of the heron and egret together is cute. Love that last of the red-headed.
Adel, hope you see more of the Bullocks.
Nanny, love your little bluebird. He sure is a beauty.
GrannyG, that bird sure loves the horsehair! Great pictures.
WildRose, great job with your eagle, heron, osprey and jay. I can imagine your excitement when you spotted the Pileated! Glad you're enjoying that new lens.
Burd, love your photos. That cardinal and blue-winged are beautiful. The flicker, kinglet and orange finch are fantastic captures.
Tiger, I feel the same way about keeping up with everyone-seems to take up more than half my day. Excellent capture on the quail pair. Your Red-winged is beautiful. I have the same problem capturing them, but your photos are much better than mine!
Red, wonderful looking photo of the babies and dad is just beautiful.
This Black headed Grosbeak was having a hard time trying to figure out how to reach the seed feeder below him.
Nice shots duc!
Nice one nanny! I love seeing the American Coot!
Nanny, you made my day with your beautiful Grackle! Thanks.
It's a rainy day but full of birds---all of them pigs! I have filled the feeder twice already and it looks to be due again. For some reason there have been very few birds at my place all winter but now they are making up for it.
I'll start with a warning for viewer discretion as my last pic is a candid shot of an overt flasher.
The first visitor that made me get out the cam was this, my first turk of the season.
Bill
Then I noticed the flasher from the corner of my eye...
Rockminer, so many grosbeaks at one time? Please send some my way. lol. The portrait of a hummer. Boy that little one is indeed handsome. By the time I can find a nectar feeder with perch for the Orioles, they all have gone North. :((
To make up for what I don't have, so many variety migrating birds, especially the the lack of hummingbirds (at present), I've many of these guys/gals visiting my backyard.
Rockminer, Nice shots, love those Grosbeaks
Adel, Beautiful Oriole!!
Lily, Great shot of your wonderful Red-headed Woodpecker's!
Rockminer, love the turkey and the hummer. I've only had one hummer visit this spring. I miss those sweet little things!
Tigerlily, that Audubon's Warbler is so gorgeous and what a clear, beautiful shot!
Lily_love, just LOVE those redheaded woodpeckers! Fabulous!
Adel, nice ones of the oriole considering the lighting. I would get nothing under those conditions! I don't have to be jealous anymore though b/c I had orioles today too!
Today was such a banner day! I wasn't even home most of the day and still I saw the most amazing birds! I'll start with my first picture of a Scarlet Tanager. I'd only seen one once before and didn't have a photo at all. Today, there were at least two pair of Scarlet Tanagers hanging around.
A Hooded Warbler came by earlier when a big, dark cloud happened to pass by. This was the best I could get and I didn't dare crop it anymore. It shows how tiny he is though.
Oh my gosh, I just looked out b/c the Hooded Warbler is chirping and there is the coolest, big old Opossum on the telephone line!
