Thought I'd start off the new thread with this pair of Cedar Waxwings deep in conversation.

DAILY PICS VOL 310
As if to prove my point, while I was making the last post, a Hooded Warbler landed right outside the window. My camera had turned itself off, so had to turn it on and zoom out and right before I could snap, he disappeared! It's raining north of here. That must be why there are so many warblers around. See Pelle, I read your weather/migration sticky!
Apparently there was just one day with the (un)Common Yellowthroat, as they all moved on. Bummer, 'cause the next day I was able to finally get set up with the new Canon, which serves me much better than the Nikon P90 for bird images.
Yesterday at Herbert's Pond I got this unusual shot of a pair of Mallard drakes. I knew one was larger than the other, and thought they were so kind to let me illustrate that.
That is such a cool picture of the Mallards Tigerlily! That sparrow shot is beautiful.
GP, not bad on the swallow. They are FAST. I love your bunting pics. The few buntings I had only hung around for one day. They must be on the road with Tiger's unCommon Yellowthroat. Hope more show up.
Elphaba, Thanks for starting the new thread! Wonderful pics of the Cedar Waxwings. Love the Black&White Warbler!
GP, Good one of the Indigo Bunting! I have the same problem with the Swallows here.
Tiger, Love the Song Sparrow pic! The Drakes are so handsome!
Lily, glad you're able to watch the swallows and their nesting.
Nanny, your lucky 7 oops, 10 jays are adorable. That's double what I have hanging around my home.
Hack so glad to hear your mom is doing well. Tell her we're all sending her our thoughts and prayers. About my tabletop fountain, it was a garage sale find and I haven't been able to find another one anywhere-sorry. It's run by a fish tank pump that attaches to a copper circular tube.
Adel, excellent captures of your grosbeak.
Elphaba, please don't hate the grackles. They're such a beautiful bird trying to survive like the other birds. Love that dove too.
Margaret, I'm so happy to hear you've heard and seen Harmony and the others. Your osprey photo is spectacular. I'm just now seeing ours flying by our home and will have to make a trip to check on all the nests around the lake soon.
Now on to the new thread, Elphaba, thanks for starting us off with beautiful waxwing photos-wow!! Your warbler is adorable too. Sorry you missed the other warbler.
GP, love,love, love those buntings!!
Tigerlily, your matched pair of Mallards are so pretty. I love that sparrow too. Too bad photos don't let us hear their music.
I spotted my first Western Flycatcher in the same tree that they were in last year. I'm guessing there's a nest somewhere close.
Elphaba, thanks for starting new thread. Haven't seen any Cedar Waxwings lately. Have never seen a Black & White Warbler here. Last fall there was a pair of aYellow Rumped (Myrtle) warblers in my yard for a month or so and have see Yellow Warblers here occasionally. And also once in awhile I see Buntings.
It is still early here for many birds to be seen.
There are a few White Crowned sparrows, and I hope that is all. My Rainier Cherry tree is just opening and last year there hundreds of the little rascals and they nipped off every bloom, not one cherry and it is a fairly large tree.
Donna
Duc, That Western Flycatcher is really a handsome bird! The Bullocks is beautiful, I can imagine the racket the young birds make, it will be that way soon here too.
Great catch on the close up of the California Thrasher yelling!! the Lesser Goldfinch is so cute!
Nice shots of the handsome guy Elphaba! It does remind me of a Swainson's but please don't take my word for it. :-)
What a lovely start to the new thread, Elphaba. I'd so love to see Waxwings. Pretty little warbler in a pretty setting. What's the name of the reed in the second shot?
Tiger, the shot of the two drakes together is really good. Love the Song Sparrow.
GP, anyone who can even manage to find Swallows in flight in their viewfinder is doing pretty good.
Duc, what fantastic shots of the Thrasher.
That's a sweet shot, Lily_love.
I went to the osprey nest yesterday afternoon, just on the off-chance one of them might come for a brief visit; alas no. However, a Rainbow Lorikeet landed on one of the nest branches and I grabbed a couple of quick shots.
Lily, very nice shot of the two different male Finch!
Margaret, Wonderful shots of the beautiful Lorikeet!! Shame they are such a pest.
Nanny, Great job with these shots of the very attractive female Eastern Towhee!!!
Nice ones adel! Love the birds at Franks Creek. The pair of Quail in the pear tree is adorable!
Awww...those quail look so sweet in the pear tree!
Looks as though spring is really arriving! I had Black-headed Grosbeaks yesterday, and the (dreaded) Brewer's Blackbird arrived too.
adel, I had a lifer's Lincoln Sparrow a couple days ago too, but it never would face me for a photo. That brings my "new here" list to 45 since the creek rehab started less than five years ago.
The Black-capped Chickadee is welcoming spring.

Adel, great birds every time from that creek. The quail are really beauties.
