Rain at last!

Grandview, TX(Zone 8a)

Beautiful pic. Love all the color combo.

Yes, the Tiger swallowtails have been very plentiful this year which is wonderful, they are so beautiful and most years we hardly see any of them, so I am sure we are all feeling blessed this year, not only by the rain but also the wonderful butterflies.

Thanks Catz.. I hope I get more bf ' s!! ! hahaha

Lewisville, TX(Zone 7b)

Josephine, I had 3-4 caterpillars (ETST) but alas, they are gone.. the longest I had one was at least two weeks!!! I was watching very carefully..but nature took it's course! :0(

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, that is the reason that we bring the caterpillars in and raise them, did you know that only about 2% of all eggs laid by butterflies survive to adulthood?
It is a really sad fact, they have many predators, so we try to help them as much as possible.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

If just a handfull of us can save a hundred just think how many eggs they can lay! I may have to start bringing in Gulf Frits this year, I think I have a predator lurking around the passion vine doing a number on them.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

That's a Where's Waldo! Fantastic!

Austin, TX

Took me a minute...sneaky pic. :=)

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

sneaky critter!

Hey Anna...I still have a couple plants for you from San Marcos. Are you planning on coming this way anytime soon? If not, next month when we tour Dale's Lep farm I could bring them that direction.

Dallas, TX

All I can say is you guys must have wonderful eyesight to be able to see all the things ... it took me months to see these beetles.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

What a nice surprise Sheila. I didn't know you brought back plants. You are a good sitter!

Dallas, TX

Its thundering and lighting here something terrible, Linda just left here on her way back to Magnolia. I hope she dont run into any problems.

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

I am starting to hurt for rain so I thought I would start this up again. We have had .40 inches in the last six weeks.
Here is a picture of a storm that missed the orchard. Kinda reminded me of an atomic explosion so I took a pic.

Wells, TX(Zone 8b)

I was on my motorcycle and got caught in a hellacious down pour while in lufkin today.. too bad it didnt make it to my place in wells

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Just teasing with you I guess.

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

1.6 inches at the house downtown San Marcos.
0.0 at the orchard. sad.

Austin, TX

We only got 1/2", but since none was predicted, I'm happy as a wet clam!
Hubby mowed and I was doing biz desk work but would've had to set sprinklers....I got a reprieve! We even had thunder...such a sweet sound. ;o)

Dallas, TX

Its time to start the rain dances again... got a lot Tuesday night ... it was so nice Wednesday, I cut the air off ... I had to cut it back on today.

Austin, TX

I'm soooo hot natured, ours runs 7 0r 8 months a year !

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

It rained a little here Sun. nite, only because I left 1000 lbs of feed in the back of my truck.
It wasn't supposed to rain but I have found that works as well as washing my truck LOL

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

Nine weeks .60 inches of rain.

I am counting on this cold front on Friday to bring some rain. I have to drive my truck through it with all my wife's jewelry and clothing for an event in Dallas. I suspect that will be enough to entice it to rain really hard.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

don't take any chances - wash the truck, and put some feed in the back...

Arlington, TX

I got a rain shower this evening, not huge but definately helped the plants.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

We got a really good rain, not sure how much but shouldn't have to run the sprinklers for a day or two.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

We got about 1/4 inch, not much but it was nice.

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

I suspect you will be getting much more than that very soon.

Grandview, TX(Zone 8a)

Good strong thunderstorm at about 4am. I love a nice well behaved thunderstorm :)

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I am happy to report that this morning we have 1 inch of rain, all slow and gentle, such a relief!!! I had a few hours of watering ahead of me today, so I wasn't looking forward to that.

Arlington, TX

Poured at my house and everything is good an soaked if not a little beat down by the intensity of the storm.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

Nothing here but it looks, and feels, like it wants to.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

Didn't get all that much (maybe 1/2 - 3/4") but it was the best kind -- slow, steady, soaking. My grass is growing right before my eyes and all of the plants have perked up. Hoping for more rain tonight. And so very glad the 100s are gone (at least for now).

Carla

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

The rain has let up for now. I'll take all we can get this time of year! Mark spent about an hour watering all the flower beds night before last, so this rain should've been able to soak in fairly well.

Austin, TX

All y'all please send me some!

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

Internet radar is your friend and enemy. It is taking over my life!!!!!

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

House: 1.5 inches
Orchard: over 1/2 inch

I hate to use this horrible analogy but it really does feel like I have been constipated for about 2.5 months and I finally got relief.

I hope we get more tonight and tomorrow and I really hope I never have to use that analogy again.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

So do the rest of us. HeHe. We're still clogged up here. Onlt a misting.
