the same thing happened here yesterday.. the winds were fiece & fast & then it rained almost like hail..next thing the sun is shining!! I was pleased as we got just enough to water the garden which will save me doing it tomorrow!! hahahaha
Rain at last!
We got nothing. We sure could use some rain right about now. I see that it is supposed to hit 100 this week.
nothing here either--and i sure would like something--
I don't think we are in for anything significant now.. there was a forecast of isolated TS Thursday..but knowing Texas, that could mean anything!!
What I used to do was put out my noodle sprinkler so that it got all the plants in ther garden then I would leave that out on the lawn & just turn it on accordingly. Removing it for mowing the lawn. It worked very well & saved me a lot of back ache hauling the hose out!
I'm thinkin' it's time to start the rain dancing....
hahahahaha....cute Steph
just a sprinkle ing here yeaterday.. wish it would have rained as hard as it looked like it going to.. Im tired of dragging the hose out and its only just begun...lol..
We're about 10º warmer than we should be this time of the year. Also, May's usually our rainiest month and we are something like 4" short of what we normally get in May. I really hope this isn't how the whole summer's going to be.
We had a period of six weeks where we received rain only once but I have had rain every week or two for the last month. I am happy as a clam. This time the last two years was just awful. I really dont mind the heat too much if it rains every now and then. The orchard has really perked up.
The house got about 3/4 of an inch tonight and I think the orchard in Staples probably received 1.5 inches.
Yay!!!!

Hmm. We got less than 3/10 of an inch. Would have liked more, but the storm was scary. I think there were 2 lightning strikes nearby. Will look around tomorrow. So although more rain would really be nice, we were glad to see it end. 119,000 homes without power in S.A. area, I hear. It's been extremely dry since the last big rain...ground was just very dry!
We got a nice soaking rain last evening. It has been in the 90s for a few days and the plants were starting to wilt even with running the sprinklers. This morning they are perky and lifting their heads.
We barely got enough to wet the driveway... :(
That happened here the other day. My son works 5 min from me and he called to see if the yard was tore up. I said why...he said from the storm...I asked what storm. It was one of those super cell pop ups rained buckets and tore roofs off etc. near him...we never saw a drop.
The problem this year has been with the tropical-ish humidity. We have had excessive humidity for over 5 weeks now and it has caused fruit drop on my Jujube trees. I begin to sweat the moment I step outside.
I didn't get a drop here! Watered some potted plants last night and it was dark, windy with lightening so I was sure it would rain...it just rolled on over me.

Ive had a automatic hose reel for about 10 yrs and I LOVE IT.. but it finally bit the dust this spring.. Im in conatct with the manufactuer to see if I can get it fixed.. so keep your fingers crossed for me .. it makes llife so much easier.. if you do buy one spend the extra bucks and get the best one you can.. a cheapie doesnt work well and dosent last.. I know this is from personal experience...
what is an automatic hose reel?
when its time to wind it up you flip a lever and it self winds .. theres a motor inside thats water driven so you dont have to do the hard work...its a great invention and well worth the bucks in my book...
wow! and all i do is leave that darn hose all tangled up and ugly looking on the lawn
A storm came through the area Thursday morning around 2:30. It has been raining off 'n on since then, so I am thrilled!!!
Question: if I feed my plants (pots and in-ground) and it happens to rain (down pour) a couple of hours later, does the plant food go to waste??
well... it's FINALLY raining here! I hope it's just more than a passing fling too!! We really need it here. I know it's been awhile for any of us writing on this thread so I hope all is well with everyone.
Me personally, I have been busy & not always in the garden.. I don't like the heat so when I am out it's early & quick!! hahahaha
We received some rain 2 1/2 weeks ago but it flooded 25 miles north. All the flood waters came down about 6 hours later and turned my orchard into an island. The creek went up over 25 feet. I hope that doesnt happen again for years.
Nice rolling storms here. Thank the lord :)
We got about an inch earlier this afternoon, then we had an interlude, and guess what?
I ran out and planted four columbines, I would have done more, but it started to rain again, hooray!!!
Josephine.
We've gotten about 1/4" today. I'll take it!!
The rain barrels are full again... woohoo!
Raining on and off here so things will get a good soak, I am certain the plants will appreciate it as I did.

We've been getting a nice rain on and off all day too. Wouldn't you know it would do this as soon as my new sprinkler system was fully functional--it never rains in June. LOL! But I'm very glad to see it. It's been so hot I've been having to water twice a day, and I've never had to do that before.
LOL of course I believe that! Would you believe that I finally started to dig the hole for my pond yesterday and hoped to finish today. Now I have water sitting in an ugly hole where the hard clay is.
C
Yes, absolutely, because it's exactly the kind of thing that always happens to me! :)
It's the law and his name is Murphy!
We got a gentle soak overnight, which I'm sure the plants are loving! I say bring it on!
I see a new thread soon..."Look what the rain did!"
I have a strange feeling that somone is going to get flooded this week.
Maybe those poor folks down in the valley, which is not good! Depends on where Alex goes.
They had such a drought condition in the past couple of years, they may welcome a hard rain. But hopefully it won't flood.
not a drop here at my place......
You are between Tyler and Hunstville, I would have thought some of that would have ventured your way....sorry. We will have to do the rain dance for Lizzie!
I think it all went north and not east. I have a friend who's got a condo down on South Padre. He's packing up and heading home.
we are getting just what i would order up! a steady, gentle rain --can't get any better!
