Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

This is a new grouping of tulipa that I put in. You can tell than they are 'Chopin' cuz yes ladies and gentleman there is a tag. I'm SO excited I can't stand it. I am usually chronically tagless. 'Who are you and what have you done with Dahlianut?!?!?"

love those!!!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Understand dear onewish cuz what's with that plastic thing in my latest pic?!?! OMG not only have I been replaced with a person that tags; they leave plastic debris in the garden. Ya see there was a reason I've been tagless. I was busy cleaning up plastic debris and recycling it.

Dahlianut,

I don't usually use the word "cute" to describe tulips, but they are!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Ok everyone put their refreshing beverages down cuz now we're getting into the oops. A couple of years ago in the fall placement panic I stuck some tulips in my herb/greens bed and I keep forgetting to move them so they have quadruplified. Um I hope the mustard seed that I sowed in that patch understands.

you will be back to your tag less self in no time

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Ok and how funky weird is this. I transplanted these tulips into this patch and HELLO they are multiplying not into the sun but moving under the deck! What is what that! Perhaps there is a 'tulip plot'? I'm not sure but 1) tulips are tagged 2) tulips are quadruplifying in the herb garden 3) tulips are moving under the deck. I am now investigating 'tulip gangs'. One can never be too sure. Safety first as I always say.

I need to get some of those!!... mine don't do much.. I have made some bad tulip choices

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

onewish you have more choices than me in your zone but I have the best success with species tulips. I do have some others that propagate well. I'll put a list together of the others and dmail you. ps BEWARE they may be plotting!

LOL.. thanks!

Looks like the tulips are seeking shade, sister! That, or they're afraid of that orange rope coming to lasso them. ^_^

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Yup although we have laid the conduit to run power and water to the greenhouse (and a new burbling rock bird bath/drink that I'm VERY exicted about) we haven't done that yet so the orangey powers my enviroheater in the greenhouse. I'm thinking maybe the tulips don't like the skunks. Yes Peppy Le Peu and Peppermint are back. DH is fraught. I Luv it. Not many times you get wildlife in the city. I have agreed to bag up the fruit and veggies rather than throwing then directly on the compost but I am keeping all the water sources (bird baths) full cuz they get really thirsty when they're busy making nests and feeding babies. shhh but I'm thinkin baby skunks: "Apple Blossom" and 'Stinky" are the names I've chose so far shhhhhh

Onewish looks like you are having great success with making new plants from old. Good stuff.
D-nut I do love your tulips even if they are a bit ornery. Nice that they gather in groups so you can keep an eye on them. I wouldn't worry about the whole labeling thing either, probably just a phase but you never know. ^_^

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Allison I can't believe your Poppy bloomed already!! NICE!!!

D-Nut your tulips are lovely! What do you feed them to get them to spread? My daffs and crocus spread, but not often do the tulips.

I think I should start a new thread...this one is pretty long. Bring you garden blooms over to the new thread please.

i have missed that wacky language and humor from north of the border.

sun is behind me here so not the greatest picture - we usually do not get a view of this weeping plum because it is hidden behind a hill of dirt.
