FUNNY FUNNY story...... Biker dude meets my bro at the church they are attending, gets around to talking about where they used to live, finds out he lived in the same town my hubby did. He lived there for awhile and then his sis was getting into trouble so his father decided to move the whole family back to Ireland, when this guy moved back to the states after graduating hs, he moved to CA, got married had a baby, while standing in a doorway with his infant son during an earthquake made a decision to move back to NJ, moves down south Jersey and meets my brother. My bro mentions to hubby about this guy and hubby asks his name come to find out that hubby's family rented the house from his father!!!!! So I finally got to meet him about 15yrs ago at my bro's 50th b-day party. Hadn't seen him since and my bro says the last time he saw him was about 10 yrs ago.
Well, when this pub had it's grand opening it was written up in our local paper and mentioned (of course) the owners names, well the one owner has the same name as this biker dude, but wasn't sure if the name was common in Ireland.
Well tonight I see him and sure enough...SAME GUY!!!!! Talk about a small world!!! When I saw him he actually delivered our appetizers, I go to him is your name "mike" he's like "yeah" hubby goes "did you grow up in East Brunswick?" Yeah......Oh my gosh!!! How funny is that???
very cool Jen
Wow - cool story!
It's a small world. Leftover mac & tuna tonight......really hate cooking for one, hate leftovers, the dogs are eating a lot better.
Just a snack before church because my friend did the food at community time after church... touch of Pueto Rico....empanadas, pulled pork, diablo chicken, rice and pigeon peas, flan, tres leche cake...oh man I'm drooling just typing that out.
I love all that stuff too Jen.. never tried tres leches yet.. but would like to... I make a killer kahlua flan
Flan!! - Thanks for reminding me! I have a box I bought a couple of weeks ago, (haven't eaten flan in the longest).
- Pizza Night Tonight!
I am spoiled now.. can't eat the boxed ones anymore
We had company drop by, unexpectedly. I already had hamb. & hots on the grill w/ corn on the cob so thats what they got offered! LOL To make up for it I threw together a Strawberry-Rhubarb Upside-down Cake served w/ fresh whipped cream. It's an extremely easy recipe and can be whipped up fairly quick.
Strawberry-Rhubarb Upside-Down Cake
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
2 cups chopped fresh rhubarb
1 box Betty Crocker Yellow or French vanilla cake mix (I used the French V.)
1 1/4 cups water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
1. Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). In 13x9-inch pan, melt butter in oven. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over butter. Arrange strawberries on brown sugar; sprinkle evenly with rhubarb. Press strawberries and rhubarb gently into brown sugar.
2. In large bowl, beat cake mix, water, oil and eggs with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour batter over strawberries and rhubarb.
3. Bake 43 to 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Immediately run knife around side of pan to loosen cake. Place heatproof serving plate upside down on pan; turn plate and pan over. Leave pan over cake 1 minute so brown sugar topping can drizzle over cake. Cool 30 minutes. Serve warm or cool. Store loosely covered at room temperature.
woo hoo.. thanks for that Celeste.. I know what I am making tonight.. my neighbor just gave me some rhubarb yesterday
Your Welcome!! LOL
I am not sure if I can harvest any from my one plant yet... just planted it last year.. it has quite a few stalks though... Michele loved the way the leaves looked... she gets so excited walking around the yard when she visits... I get the whats this and that... does make it that much more fun
Had a great celebration meal for my son's communion yesterday. Great Italian restaurant. Everyone loved it.
The cake sounds tres yummy! I just planted rhubarb last week. Guess it'll take awhile to harvest. Cooked today for Mom & sister....BBQ beef brisket, potato salad, & coleslaw...sent most of it home with them, but I saved enough for tomorrow.
We went out to an Italian restaurant last night for dinner, very good, huge portions, I had pasta carbonara and DH had spaghetti and meatballs. We are having leftovers tonight and still have 1/3 of it left for tomorrow.
