was it in this thread we were talking about WS'ing primrose seeds?.... I think so.. but not sure... I had 2 out of 3 types germinate so far... I was shocked when I saw green babies in there.. and those seeds were a few years old... funny the new ones did not yet

Coffee Break #36 - Spring is finally here!
that is how i got some to grow - same with foxglove and delph's - hh's come up outside or inside - noticed the himalayan blue poppy seeds outside are germinating - inside they were a failure - i am excited to see if i can get these to live.
next year I am going to WS the delphs too... nada inside .. live & learn.. I am so excited about the baptisia germinating
One huge downside to being a snowbird is that you can't start your own seeds ahead of time. I do seeds that can be sewn after I get to the farm, but I'd love to start my own tomatoes, cukes, etc. Thankfully, my green beans do well when sewn in the ground. My puppies appear to be vegetarians.....they love raw veggies more than anything else. I will have to grow them some carrots this year, so I like your sand idea, Celeste. My problem with carrots - like tomatoes - is not enough hours of sun in the garden now. Carrots and onions end up small.
read today a well landscaped yard can add 12.7% to a homes value - that is almost 51K for a home worth 400K - not a bad return.
Including 100 tons of stone??
there was a lot of stone work in the photo's (my walls were better)
hey i am drinking a new shirazz called red dust - i think it is relatively new and cheap $8.99 - very good - this one will be going up in price.
I'll look for it.
I will see if they have it here too .. thanks Bill
For a brief moment I thought you were drinking a JM Bill. Shirazz and pinot noir are the only reds I can tolerate.....and enjoy!
Sherrie, it was hard to decipher for a second....but I believe they are no longer talking about JM's but are now on the topic of wine. ^_^
How about that volcano in Iceland? Really messing air travel up. The photos are amazing with these postcard little towns and this huge ash cloud overhead. Will no doubt make for some nice sunsets this year. I remember the year the one in the Philippines went.
Friend in England says sunrise & sun sets are purple at the moment.
Wow.
I'd like to see a purple sunset or sunrise at the moment.
Today is a rollercoaster day........just got back from a funeral for a young woman who died in a motorcycle accident last week. She was my niece's cousin and the mother of 3 young children. I had to get up and leave, I could not stay and listen to those children's broken hearted wails. I am now supposed to get dressed and go to a catered surprise 50th B-day party for a old friend. I hate to be a no show....but I don't think I can pull this off :(
How sad. Young children really don't belong at funerals.
Sad story.
I disagree about bringing young kids to a funeral. They need closure and need to say good bye. I went to every funeral my parents went to when I was little. grandparents, family friends..no ill effects.
I think it depends on the age and maturity. Definitely not good for all.
Check out these shots from the eruption.

Celeste, I can understand how difficult it would be to shift emotional gears so quickly. Sometimes you just can't do it. Nothing wrong with that! Sending you hugs!
Louise
That is a sad story...my prayers are with them. My son who is now 30 still tells me he wished he had gone to my mother's funeral...he was going on six and I thought he was to young...they were close.
hope you are ok Celeste... hugs!!!
Thanks for the support, I stayed home, I couldn't do the gear thingy. I must of been emotionally exhausted as I fell asleep from 4-7pm.
I will go see my friend today, wish her a Happy B-day and explain, we are OLD friends for a reason :)
yes the ones who understand are the real ones
We've been buds since we were 12! LOL
Kids are 8, 10, 15, this is their Mother and it was important I think for closesure.
Sherrie I'd use it as a planter, not sure what else.
Something bright so glaze doesn't distract. Is it a planter or for flower arranging?
No you're not Sherrie! Think about it for a minute. I'd put some trailing sedum or something.
is there drainage in the bottom?
Looks anatomically correct.
HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!
Sherrie, I too am curious whether it has drainage or not.......
front & back... LOL
not good for a succulent unless you are keeping it in a covered spot... or inside
It would work for impatiens if you like those.
oh Louise I forgot to tell you... they had the 12" tea cup planters at Christmas Tree... very vivid colors this year... we picked up 4 of them.. two with polka dots... two with stripes
