Dear Friends.....I have a hole in my heart, as I had to bury my DH, Doug, yesterday on what would have been his 88th birthday...he died Sat. of an aortic aneurism as I was sitting beside him in the ER...I wanted just one more hour, one more day, one more trip to the farm with him, but I didn't get it...please, hug your loved ones today...I will be posting again when I can. Marilyn

My deepest, deepest sympathies Marilyn. So very sorry for your loss, sending prayers out to you and your family.
very long day yesterday - was at the hospital at the crack of dawn - my fil had a valve replaced and thankfully everything went as planned and the early signs are he is ahead of schedule - they were able to take him off the respirator a few hours earlier than expected and he was able to speak with my mil briefly last evening.
looks like he will be able to supervise the veggy garden planting next month - hopefully he will sit still as my mil and wife plant things to close and step on just planted plants:) always have a couple of hours of "re-planting" to do - i'm looking forward to next year when he will back planting and weeding:)
Best of luck to him!!
he is a tough old italian!
Not bad:

Hard to kill Italians!
yes... best of luck... my dad has been though valve replacements .. bypasses.. name it... like a new lease every time he gets something done
Hugs to you and your family, Marilyn.
Best of luck to your fil, Bill.
Speedy recovery to your fil, Bill
It sure looks like one.
yes it does look like one.. had no idea they could climb ... better get a trap Jen... the one that was here destroyed the whole garden in one day
I didn't know they could climb either...hence the name GROUNDhog...lol!!!!
Wall-e was barking and growling like crazy so I knew he had something.
They do climb in emergencies. guess Wall-E was one. Maybe it will change locations on its own.
I would keep Wall-E out there all day!!! and night!!!!
Sure looks like one to me too. They are members of the rodent family so I guess it is not unheard of but I never saw one climb up a tree. I suppose if I was a ground hog and a dog with big teeth was coming after me I could learn to climb really fast too.
I have a question for anyone who grows oriental poppies. Do they flower the first year or does it take a few seasons for them to get mature enough to bloom?

mine didn't flower first year... and lost a bunch over the winter
:(
kill it
Good luck to your FIL Bill....
Groundhogs are nothing but giants rats...if you trap it take it far far away...they come back!
I took mine more than 10 miles away... they didn't come back
illegal to rehouse them in MA. A knock on the hear would be better. the worst is if one goes missing, another will take its place.
Bill, good luck to your FIL.
My male cat keeps wanting to go outside and he's driving me nuts. I feel bad for him on one hand. He's neutered, so that's not it. I think it's just spring calling. He's only ever been indoors, but he's the adventurous type. If I lived on 40 acres, I'd let him duke it out with the coyotes, but here, I'm on the corner of two busy roads. I won't dare let him duke it out with a car.
