2010 Garden Photos - Part 3
Really terrific shots onewish, Jen and pixie. Just lovely all of them. Spring!
nice Celeste!!
Thank you. ^_^
those are nice shots celeste! really like the iris.
A nice form of I. reticulata (or similiar species). they are cheerie.
Celeste, I just wrote an article on Iris reticulata. They are included in the subgenera Hermodactyloides, which is comprised of a group of bulbous Irises that include Iris reticulata, Iris histrioides, Iris danfordiae as well as a few others. Yours most likely as you know, is a cross between Iris winogradowii and Iris histrioides called Iris histrioides 'Katherine Hodgkin' or maybe 'Frank Elder'. I have both and they are hard to tell apart. Here is a wonderful site to drool over others being hybridized. But unfortunately very expensive.

But, I must say, as much as I love your little iris, I adore your shot of the hibiscus. Stunning. Patti
The hibiscus are so cheery! Love the RI as well....my first patch grew so well, I'll order more...but not the expensive ones!
Alan McMurtrie is hybridizing them in Canada. I see that the Latvian lady is using some of his. I don't think that he sells them to the general public. He is trying to get the Dutch interested, but they seem to prefer 'tried & true.'
LOVE the striping on those crocuses
And the color of the tulips!
me too!!!
oooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh how pretty Patti!!!!
up facing one.... love it!!!!!
I had to look twice.
Our daffs are blooming, funny thing ,they look just like everyone elses.
I have one daff open up this morning.. this is the first year it didn't pour right after they opened... nice I can enjoy them this week
Patti, I've never bought 'Frank' so my little iris is 'Katherine Hodgkin' ...if I don't buy 'Frank' then i'll never get them messed up. LOL!
I too like the Hibiscus shot, thank you. ^_^
Nice color on the tulips Allison and Ge I'm jealous....could never get those darn anemones to bloom here!!
Boo, those are beautiful white blooms!
I planted some anemones a few years ago.. they bloomed once.. guess they were not hardy
I had good success with them at last house.I saw them interplanted with tulips on J.Scheepers catalogue. They were tossed in with the tulips, squirrils moved many so now they are comming up at will but not with the tulips.
Thanks, Pixie. They are large hellebore blooms.
My crocuses turn up all over the lawn from the rodent population.
I like the light pink hyacinths!!!... and JoAnn the red & yellows are great!!!
It was a case of forgetting I had planted the crocus. Not bad tho.
not at all... the back light makes it look like they belong together
I love gardeners, they find the nicest reasons for errors.
Thanks Allison.
easy to forget about crocus.. I see a few popping up through the landscaping fabric we put under the posts I hang my containers on.. not sure if I should just dig them now and move them while I can see them.. or mark them and move them in fall
Move them now.I find spring bulbs very forgiving.
Look what the squirrils do to them and they survive.
very true
My Squills are blooming too. Not where I planted them but what the heck when kritters move everything.
As long as they bloom. ^_^
