What's Happening in your neck of the woods? Friends...

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Still pretty dark here, but, according to my GURU, The Weather Channel, HAWAII in the North is not far away with projected temps of +20C starting Wed and Thurs .. another wee teaser, but, the Easter Bunny will be happy !!
Rain gauge showed ALMOST an inch for yesterdays rainfall .. no doubt the grass is going to start stretching to greet the sun .. the riding mower is covered with lawn furniture, so, maybe the patio will be getting some 'summering up' this week.

Did all the housework yesterday, so, am hoping we can get outside today .. mind .. it'll be wet ..

Betty .. the 'rambling daisy' sounds wonderful. This will become a quilt ? Big project, have learned that 'passive leisure' is just as beneficial as 'active leisure' .. soothes the wee bean ^_^

Lilly should be tippety tapping down the hall any minute now, then I'll really find out whats it's like outside ..

Enjoy your day !

Betty -Breaker the big fellow is 9 years, Paisley is 5 years.
Paisley has gone to another foster home yesterday - I still have Breaker.
There was another dog there - a sheltie/doxie cross, looked mostly sheltie, might go back and get her next week if I have another foster home free. We take crosses so long as they look like a sheltie!
Nice day yesterday, did a bit of work in the garden, working at LH today so getting all dressed up! My new blouse has been all gussied up with lace and looks very nice. The costume mistress actually took the trouble to cut out the fabric behind most of the lace ( which of course means I had to go out and find a camisole!)

Hi Betty!

Grand Forks, BC(Zone 5b)

Yes betty, it was a different this year. While El nino was good to most of Canada, the southern US was hit with cooler, wetter weather than normal. It's good to be home. Green grass, Robins, my Roses are in bud, crocus blooming, and the daffs and tulips look like they are ready to put on a show. Life is good ^_^

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hello IMCanadian!!
Welcome, welcome! ^_^

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3a)

Physio 3X/wk this week, but, Lorna is now walking very well with the prosthesis AND crutches ... it certainly has been a LONG time coming since her amputation in Sept/09 .. seems these days would NEVER come ..
I meet a new Hospice client on Tuesday .. he and his wife life out this way, so, I am hoping I can help them along .. wish me luck !

Best get the 'peeps' in the house on the shuffle, the furries and myself have been up for awhile now ..

LONG WEEKEND coming up !!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was a drab day yesterday but that's ok I sat and enjoyed working on Braedon's hockey rag quilt..finished all but 3 rows..could have forced myself to continue and finish but lordy christmas isn't for 9 months..lol..

All but 2 front gardens are done..yard ready to put out yard art...I have in this head of mine a plan for a water feature to be located near bad bedroom deck, Pat and Don dropped in with a piece of wood except it was a cut piece and not rotten enough, might incorporate it so my plans are if the weather is as fantastic as they are calling for to work on that project...

Don, boohoo that you didn't have the best of weather but we sure were excited to have an easy winter...

Carol, you will have to post a photo with your new spring attire..I'm laughing, the rescue dogs don't find you, you go out and find them..what a lady!

"M" fantastic about Lorna..she'll progress in leaps and bounds, soon it will all be behind her and an entire future ahead of her...keep listening to weather forecast for your region and cannot believe with you being so northerly that you have better weather than we...

Sun is starting to peek through, start of a beautiful week...

IMCanadian, what kind of weather are you having?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Oh Betty it is even a stranger story than that I just didnt post it!

Good news about Lorna!

Lovely day yesterday- LH not very busy- just 1 tour of 5 people.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Awesome day here .. almost a day off .. have a dental hygenist appt to take Lorna to this aft, so .. this morning she has been outside in the enclosure 'practicing' .. hard part will be her sitting in the car .. I kinda have to bend her leg for her and then stuff it in the car, sounds weird, but, whatever works. Hard to put the dang thing on .. and she wants to get as used to it as she can.

Sharing 2 pics, knowing me it'll be 3 LoL

~M~

Lilly and Lorna .. Lilly LOVES playing Soccer .. or .. shall I say she likes to watch us chase her trying to get the ball from her !!

Just a quick note to say hi, I've been lurking. Cooper is back to his old self. We're having real Spring weather... sun, rain, thunder, hail, sun, rain, etc etc. temps about 10-12 high and 3-4 lows.
Linda

Victoria Harbour, ON

Looks as though we are all going to enjoy a lovely long weekend..

"M" Lorna looks as though she's in 7th heaven..how wonderful she's able to get out and enjoy spring weather..no looking back right?

Wonderful news about Cooper...omg you've got every weather element covered..lol...let's hope it's only the sunshine for you this Easter...

Did go out for lunch without a jacket, came back and the sun must have gone behind a cloud...brrr still chilly out there...

Thanks to Cathy I'll not have to do any raking this weekend, my entire front and back yard has been raked and cleaned...talk about a friend..

Have my family over Saturday for Easter hunt and din/din..Jeff is coming up with the boys on Friday..haven't seen much of them since Christmas..both in rep hockey and travelling all over..no time to come visit grandma..

This morning I was up early and got the hockey rag quilt done..tonight I'll wash it a few times/dry and pack it away for Christmas...no rest for the wicked, because I've 2 more to get done! Quiet here today, had all my crochet squares done for yet another afghan so am sewing the squares together..sure wish I could just sit and veg..no go..need to be productive..lol

Jenn, do you have a heater for your pool, with weather in the 70's you'll soon be swimming!

cullman, AL(Zone 7b)

No sadly theres no heater. We wont be in the pool till probably june.. Sometimes we get a warm streak and were in at the end of may.. We just want to get it done now so when the busy pool season hits were not left on a waiting list.. Plus its getting pretty green now with the sunshine, its an eyesore...

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

+8C here already .. at this early hour, been up for a bit as Lilly heard ? something ? outside which she turned into a HUGE emergency .. can't let her out as I am never sure whether or not it's a SKUNK !! But .. I saw nothing ..

Unbelievably, we sat out on the patio, lawn furniture is all out .. flies are buzzing about, Red Winged Blackbirds, and the Flycatchers are back .. AND .. the big yellow WATER BOMBERS are flying over regularly :-(
Anyone in this area has been warned NOT to start any kind of fire outside .. the woods are tinder dry ..

RABBIT RABBIT ^_^ ..
Hope the month of April is awesome and amazing for each and every one of you !!!

Morning...it's 11 right now, temps are climbing...ooohhh so hoping Paul calls in and tells us to go home at 1:00pm, if not can we try 3:00..most likely it will be 4:45pm..getting off early would put me ahead of the game, have an entire full page of scrap paper with things I have to get done hopefully this aft. or Sat.- sure would be nice to park the car today and not start it up until Monday...

"M" going to the Municipality today to get fire permit..good for 7 days..haven't heard that there is a ban in our area..let's hope not, sure do need to burn before the wind blows it all back into the yard..

I walked the gardens this morning, if I stood still I'm sure I could see my pretties growing...stopped at a garden center last night, wow, they are ready for gardening season..he said he ordered those lilac trees that bloom more than once..didn't have any in stock but said they might be on tonights truck..hopefully I can stop in and check on it..yard was full of shrubs, surely it's too early to plant them????

Jenn, you are right, in another month you'll not get a pool maintenance person as they'll be doing installation.....May/June is still early for swimming...

Are you all having family or doing something special this weekend...

My family arrives tomorrow, most likely will leave Saturday night..have a zillion things I want done but best not push it otherwise another holiday they'll be taking a holiday...a few things which are hard for me though they can surely help me with...

Crossing my fingers and saying a prayer that boss will call and say leave early..lot's of luck on that one..he did that last Friday..should have told him to wait until this week...drats...but it sure felt nice to leave at 1:00pm last Friday..lol...

cullman, AL(Zone 7b)

~M~ I have a friend that lives by sudbury and they have had nothing but fires this year, i guess people cant help but have campfires there..

Once the water table goes down enough that they can install the new liner with out damaging the bottom.. The order went out this morning, so theres not going to be any wait on that.. We were in a way lucky (we thought it sucked at the time) our pool when we closed it up for the winter, hubby noticed in nov that the cover wasn't touching the water, so he looked in to see that the water was almost a foot and a half lower.. We called one of our friends and he said take the winter cover off, cause if its full of water it will tear from the weight. So thats what he did on a cold snowy day.. he he poor guy.. We figure its leaking around the steps and its just the seal, but since the liner was on its last leg and faded in some spots we opted to not spend the $300 to find the leak and fix it and just wait to get a new one this spring.. Normally we dont open it till may so by that time if we didn't know it was leaking, or the leak was slower then what it was, we would of had to wait at least 6 week to get the new liner in.. (they say thats the time of year when everyones opening there pools and finding problems or getting new ones put in) so we might of went with out one most of the summer.. I would not of been happy, being that i'm due july 30, the hottest month of the year here.. If i didn't have a pol to cope with the heat i would not be very happy..

betty good luck on the leaving early, my day is shot I have to wotk 1-9:30 today so no sun for me :(

jen

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all...

Left at 3:00 yesterday, by the time I got home after shopping it was my regular time, everyone and their grandmother was out yesterday, beautiful day that it was...

Decided when I got home that I'd take the winter closure off the back deck, so lovely now that it's done, then Kyle came over, he helped grandma with all the burning after we went to the Library to get a burning permit...so it was after 11pm by the time I went to bed, couldn't let the fire go unattended..

Anotheer spectacular day today, seeing as I was super energetic yesterday I can slow down my pace...if I get the pond up and running then I'll do the happy dance...love the sound of the water spray..

Jen,omg you are pregnant, is this your first..how exciting for you..so yes, you do need the pool - you'll be having the summer off..now do all the provinces have where you are entitled to 1 year off?

My brother Bernie's son , mid 40's who is ready to retire from the RCMP signed up for Afghanistan, so this afternoon around 2:00 going to have a lunch with him and family...Scott has been there several times, why he felt he needed to do another tour of duty is beyond me...hoping he comes home safely...

Do enjoy your day, hope you are kissed with sunshine today!

cullman, AL(Zone 7b)

Oh yes i get the year off.. I'm due july 30 but i'm not working my last month, so july & aug i will be off.. Yes its my first my, but fiances second.. He also has a 13 year old daughter lol so hes hoping that its not another girl.. But either way were happy.
jen

Victoria Harbour, ON

Breaktime..working up a sweat...wow..

Jen, how wonderful for you, bet you are counting the days!
Have you been well or have you been plagued with morning sickness? think little missy will have to take what comes..lol

Water just pouring off my forehead..sure wish I didn't have to go to Bernie's at 2:00pm would have much preferred to finish what I started..emptying the pond, maybe by the time I leave I can shut the pump off and while gone the sun will dry up all the leaves that found a home in it..

Lots of work isn't it this gardening hobby?

cullman, AL(Zone 7b)

Oh for the first 18 weeks well no between 8 and 18 weeks along i was sick as a dog.. it was all day sickness lol.. lost almost 10 pounds, its all gained back now lol.. ya i'm ready anytime now lol.. baby kicks all night and keeps me up, plus everything is starting to not fit.. It will be over soon enough, already half done, and that went so fast i can just picture this half flying by also
jen

cullman, AL(Zone 7b)

I got the bug... tomorrow I'm gonna start around 40 canna seeds for the spring.. I'll put them in containers so i can bring them in at night, or when the weather is not to nice.. but the weather we've been having I need to take advantage of it and well i just cant wait anymore lol... Almost everyday its been 50-72, my lilies, hydrangeas, tulips, iris', neighbors hyacinth are already blooming... So I cant wait.. I need to get something on the go.. I did poppies last week and they all started to sprout.. I need more.. Plus with cannas if there not planted in the right time they wont bloom the first year from seed.. Although i have found that if you put them in full sun you have a better chance on a bloom..

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hello all!!

So there's growing going on for lots of you!!
We aren't doing any gardening per se this year because we're hoping to be in our new place and plant a garden there! ^_^

Keep us in your T&P that we get the price we need from where we are, so we can put a good d/p on a new place AND that the place we want stays on the market so we can put an offer on it!

♫♪~§usan~♪♫

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

WHOOSH, literally !!! Wow is it WINDY here in Thunder Bay .. windchimes have been bashing around since about 2am, BUT, the 90% chance of precip expected overnight never did materialize :(
We so need the rain .. I do believe Wpg had a mixed bag of everything yesterday .. however, this wind we have right now is from the east.

Good luck with your Canna seeds Jen .. I think the perennials here are stopped in their tracks for a little bit ..

Susan ..in my T&P re the house .. I think we can all attest to the stress of the 'buying and selling' negotiation process ..

Not sure what's on the PLATTER today .. I;ve graduated from a plate to a platter LoL

Take care all

~M~

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Marilyn - buying won't be the prob, but we'll just leave it to the Lord re: selling ^_^

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

It seems quiet this Easter weekend around here. I see that most of the country is having lovely weather, with temps much above seasonal. You may have heard that we had a bit of a wind storm here yesterday. Numerous houses hit with falling trees, ferries damaged by the wind/waves, one marina broke apart beaching 6 boats, sinking a few others, down the corner from us the signal light was blown clear from it's post, 100,00 people with out power with about 40,00 still with out power today. Overcast and breezy today, forecasting another wind storm tomorrow.

Wishes to all for a safe and happy weekend.

cullman, AL(Zone 7b)

were also having crazy winds (23 mph) today, but nothing like yours.. Nothing has broken yet that i can see.. A bit of rain off and on, but we are still at 67 degrees so cant complain..

Hopefully they get power soon

~M~ good luck selling your home.. My brother is house hunting today, hes getting a bit frustrated at what is out there for his money.. So I can only imagine how you feel, having found it and not able to get it till yours sells...
jen

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Smury girl - I'm the one selling/buying.......
We know what's out there, for our $$ and we've found the house we want. We have an Open House on April 17th, and we have to make the house "pretty, pretty, pretty". On the day, I'm going to bake cookies and get humungous bouquets of flowers.
We've pulled down some wall-hung stuff, and patched - now will paint those areas.
We've also carted off some stuff we'll need in the bigger place, but need the "airy look" of this home.

Well, better get back to packing! I'm so excited - it's a Grand Adventure!!

Good luck to your brother in his house-hunt!

♫♪~§usan~♪♫

cullman, AL(Zone 7b)

LOL i know that why did i put M.. Sorry pregnancy is getting to my brain lol... Ya i dont know why the cookies always seem to help..

My brother found a place they love on today's hunt.. Now the wait to get the financing.. Silly boy didn't get pre-approved first.. Hes got the mind set if this is not the one, there will be another.. Ya thats a great view to have.. That happened to us when we were looking.. We were hours late on making an offer and lost it.. I cried for a few days.. Now looking back, that wasn't our house, the one we ended up buying is way better in so many ways.. The other one was right out the 1970's needed to be renovated totally, but it was huge... However the backyard was just a pool and patio.. which at the time was good for us, but now with a little one on the way I'm glass we have grass too...
jen

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

The wind has not stopped, and, the woodstove is on !!! Both furries are quite happy about that ... I like it, at the beginning, but, once it starts to REALLY heat up the house I head for the cooler half ...

Buying/selling .. have been told that it is one of the HIGHEST stress producers .. I believe it .. have moved twice (well 3 times if you include moving from home to nurses residence) first official move was from an apartment to a house .. second that house to this one in the country .. I baked cinnamon buns for the sale of the small house, apparently the smell of cinnamon/baking is soothing .. who knows ..the house sold quickly, but, the day the keys exchanged hands (via lawyers) was a fiasco .. hours late .. I was a basket case .. I tend to think that that kind of thing is gone now .. sure hope so ..

Linda, watched the 6 o'clock news, saw pics of the ferry to Nanimo .. DAWG !!!!!!!!!!! Woulda carried me offa there in a 'body bag' !!!! Hope you weathered the weather !!

For some reason Lawrence Welk is on the TV .. boy .. a wonderful show !!!!

HAPPY EASTER ALL
