Mornin ^_^
Linda .. SO glad to hear Cooper is 'on the mend' .. also smiling here re Dandelions. you KNOW you have had enough winter when you actually HOPE to see one of them LoL
Susan .. I wish I could lend some sage advice re your sewing centre .. but .. I just betcha your going to have someone come through who is going to LOVE that area .. I remember you had the pics (from articles) re what it looked like .. I immediately thought half my house needed to be bulit like that !!!!
Best to just things one day at a tine .. I think most of us in theis forum have sold a home and can empathise to the MAX with you re the stress .. plus working those long hours .. well .. it's tough, but .. Macheavelian me .. in the ned, it IS worth the effort.
'Some' ot the bushes are budding here, but not like Jens .. have noticed the Honeysuckle, Azalea and MAYBE a couple of the Lilacs 'thinking' about doing something .. but not for a few weeks ..
Busy days ahead ..
Take care everyone

What's Happening in your neck of the woods? Friends...
Jen, I had to scrape about 1/2" of frost off my windshielf this morning...calling for 14 today but falling to almost freezing at night..tomorrow they say it will start getting colder...
I've walked my yeard looking at trees, especially my lilacs, nothing even siimilar to buds...lots of spent lilacs from last year though, do you cut them off??? my lilacs where I have the hidden garden are ancient, lots of dead branches, didn't do well last year, cut them back..I've planted many ahead of them in hopes that once they grow I can cut down the old ones...am so waiting for a nursery to open who has continual flowering lilacs...
Carol, can only say they'd best be thankful to all of you who volunteer...what a special woman you are..did your curling team win?
Hey guys, STOP feeding the robins, need them to come my way so I know spring has arrived!!!!
Haven't seen photo's of your sewing unit Susan, do you have any you can post when you have a minute..know it's not today or tomorrow but at some point....lordy, you don't have to get rid of everything, surely they must know you have to live in the house while selling..
Linda, girls came in today and said her arm was badly sprained, thank goodness because I think they are going on a trip shortly..broken arm wouldn't have been nice..ok mom, will try to take meds...I've never had to so this is all new to me..
As for the stress test, told the Dr. I got a Wii and Wii Fit Plus for my birthday and do daily fitness (little white lie, have missed a few days-lol) and he said it was a great way to work out! Maybe that's why I did so well...
Quiet here at work, more than usual so I left early, dropped into Walmart for more wool..figure by Friday at this rate I'll have a '9 block' quilt type pattern done in crochet..jumping up and down here...sure am crossing off a lot of names on my christmas list..as soon as I make something I box it, want to wrap it as well but no can find Xmas wrap...what's with that? Greg asked me if I planned on not being here at Christmas time ... one never knows right..
were in for another nice day.. there calling for 55 today.. Friday might be cold in the low 30s but the rest of the week higher 40's - 50's Hopefully spring is here for us.. Few days of rain on the way.. Our nights get cold too.. just the other day my pool had ice all over the top, by noon it was gone though..
betty i'm no expert on lilacs, I have one its only a foot high, but I would think its just like any other tree of bush and it can be pruned back..
~M~ my lilac isn't doing anything yet.. All the maple trees have those red things falling everywhere... man i hate them... squirrels are going nuts, running up and down trees, chasing each other, must be there "season"..
♫♪~§usan~♪♫ is this sewing cabnet you have in a room alone? is it a possible bedroom, or even an office?? both i think would help the people see what the room could be.. If you can fit it in to the perpose of the room then leave it.. But however if its very big, or looks like is used for storage cause theres not enough in the room, then i would move it to storage for now.. I agree people have a hard time seeing whats in front of them, sadly I'm one of them people..
jen
Jen, I have red maple and oak trees...what I find fascinating is when the leaves start to open, if you sit quietly you can actually hear them do so...
Weather permitting, just might do a bit of prunning on the lilac trees this weekend, make room for new growth..I so love the hidden garden in the middle of these trees that i sure wouldn't want to do something that they wouldn't live...
It's 41 degrees here...trees are swaying so imagine it still feels cold..
But dont trim your lilacs until just after they have finished flowering.
Curling: Canadian womens team have 7 wins no losses!
Carol, you know the spent lilac flowerets (?) that are dry and still on the tree, do you think I should clip them now?
Wow, they are doing quite well..
Betty from my experience you would have to be carful as the new buds are very close to the old ones. I try to dead head after flowering then they have time to set the new buds in the fall for spring flowers. It can be done but you have to be very careful.
Anyother ideas out there?
Ann
Ok its official I seen a robin today, well actually i seen 3.. 57 degrees and sunny here at 3:30..
jen
Jen, I want to live in your neck of the woods....know what I'm doing, going home, sitting out on back verandah until I see a robin....
Maybe I'll not touch the lilac trees till fall Ann...don't want to do damage ..
We are lucky to have the weather we do.. I dont know how long it will last however..
jen
Betty I would not bother to deadhead now. If you want to do it do so after flowering. Incidentally the guy who prunes my trees told me a couple of years ago that contrary to what is normally recommended there is no need to prune off the old seedheds. I do on a small lilac just for looks but my tree lilac is never trimmed - too big and cant reasonably reach. But dont wait until fall - too late! needs to be done right after blooming before the new buds are set.
Hi everyone - hope you're having a great day.
re: Sewing cabinet - I'm taking it with me when we move. It's not large, but it's attached to the wall. The room is an office/cum sewing room right now and the murphy-style cabinet that's my sewing table isn't large, but I guess the room would look "cleaner" without it on. It's 14" deep x 3' tall, and 2' wide. Here's a front picture of it. As you can see, the majority of it is the same colour as the wall.
But, as it's not staying with the house, I'm wondering if I should leave it until the house is sold (so I can continue using it) or take it down and patch/paint the wall where it was installed and use my dining table for sewing in the meantime (except when it's being shown of course LOL)
Now that looks interesting..guess you could do the patch up now, saves time later when you will be busy moving...could it fit under the bed temporarily..OMG did you hear me say that, don't dare look under my beds..they house knitting machines, a 4' stained glass blue heron that I completely forgot about and other goodies...ashamed of myself, better find a permanent place for them..oh well, stops the dust bunnies doesn't it?
People might think its covering something, or what it will look like under it once its gone.. But if you let them know your taking it and the wall repair and paint will be finished for them.. Either way its not really taking up space and even with it gone the room wont feel any bigger.. from the picture it looks good on the wall and it blends in fairly well.. I guess it really weather or not you want to use the dinning table and for how long...
ok - two differing opinions LOL
I guess I'll ask the realtor when he comes by on Saturday.
Don't go by me Susan, that could get you into mega trouble..lol..you are right your realtor will provide ideas ...
And Susan be sure it is written into your contract that it will go with you if you leave it up.
Went for a two hour walk today, had some running around to do.. Was well worth getting outside but my back is killing me now..
I agree ask the realtor, they are far more qualified to guide you.. and yes put it in the contract, I looked at a house that had everything they would be taking with them listed.. Couldn't understand why they were taking a $20 light fixture from walmart, but i guess if you really like something lol...
thanks for the advice on the lilac. Mines still small but its nice to know I shouldn't cut it till after it flowers.. Not that its even flowered yet, i hope it does this year though..

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO winter is still here
BRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!! North Western Ontario is in an ICY GRIP !!
Started Wed afternoon about 4pm, high winds, sun got shrouded in clouds, temp dropped, and .. well .. we waited for 'IT' ... meaning Snow !!
Up early this morning to make sure 'IT' did not materialize, and, WHEW .. 'IT' didn't. Still windy and quite cool though.
Lilacs I dead head as the blooms die off, actually, because they are a favourite bloom here (minus any SPIDERS that may tag along inside) I usually am awaiting blooms for bouquets in the house.
Susan .. your realtor would know best re the sewing machine enclosure .. but .. as Carol said, make sure it is clearly stated that it is GOING with you .. when we moved .. eons ago it seems, the purchasers wanted, the light fixtures, the drapes and curtains and a small china cabinet I had had built in ..
Betty, dust bunnies aren't afraid of reproducing just because there's something UNDER the bed with them. In fact, they attach to the objects therein and don't let go LoL.
Darned if I know what the Robins are eating, bugs I guess .. no doubt it'll be slim pickins today due to the cold ..
Off and runnin early this morning for a lecture then physio .. fingers crossed the prosthesis will come home with us today !!
TTFN
~M~
LOL "M" do you mean I have to take everything from under the bed and dust too? Tell me it isn't so....
Bitter cold here as well, wouldn't doubt we'll see a few flurries...on the good side, saw my first robin this morning ..excited as can be..
bit dizzy and nausea this morning..you'll shake your head when you hear...did a fitness program on the Wii just after she told me I was overweight, as if I don't know, did it a bit quicker than my icon was moving, was suppose to do 800 steps in 10 minutes and I did 936..burnt 39 calories, got off and almost fell to the floor...won't do that again...too funny...
I'm thinking of going to Fabricland tonight..the members 50% off sale is on, not that I need anything but can't resist a bargain!
OMG you mean I am supposed to dust under the bed? :+) !
My life is soooo boring, thing for a fun time tonight I'll go check what under the bed! At least dust bunnies could entertain me right?
Susan - good advice above. If you leave it up (and I would leave it up ONLY if the realtor thinks it won't make any difference to the house sale), you must have it listed as something that does not go with the house. You should probably also list that the wall will be repaired and repainted where it was mounted. Otherwise, take it down when showing the house and do the wall repair ahead of time.
Yes, good advice.
When we sold our house in Winnipeg (first time I'd ever done that) we asked for the realtor's advice and he wouldn't give any........
We had a burgundy feature wall, and he wouldn't say whether we should paint it, or not...... Doesn't it just make you wanna go "arrrrrrgh" when people won't say Anything?
Dang its cold out! Somewhere about -5! Even put a hat on when I walked the dogs.
Getting sorted out to pick up a dog from the Humane Society tomorrow- 9 year old, turned in by owner, says retired, cant look after dog anymore. Wouldn;t ou think that is just when you do have time to look after the dog? Oh well. Our good luck he is in the HUmane Society because they will do the dental he needs and it is 'dirt' cheap to us!
Tuesday was a lovely day and I have a helper ( paid) for garden clean up this year - she cleaned up all my north beds in the back yard. Now we wait for another nice day probably next week and start on some of the other beds. I am doing work out there too but my back sure appreciates somebody raking and bagging all the leaves on the flower beds. Lots of things popping up, some of my Hepaticas have blooms, always the first and there are some little crocuses blooming too.
I just went out for lunch, omg almost froze to death..doesn't look that cold but the wind is up..fingers still frozen..
Sure wish I could spend time cleaning my gardens Carol but it's a no/no...did learn a lesson from previous years, raking all the dead leaves and cleaning old growth then came the snow, lost many plants...
I must go find the box that I deadheaded all my flowers..with wanting an english type garden I just scatter here and there, what grows grows..I've always had luck with that method...
ANother BRrrrrrrrrrr from Thunder Bay .. Good Grief .. a cruel trick to play on us .. but .. it IS just March.
The hospital's physiotherapy dept door opens to the east and is 2 blocks away from Lake Superior, when I walked out of it after Lorna's physio .. I sure got a SMACK of cold in the face .. made me eyes tear so it did !!!!
I must have looked a site running to my car carrying Lorna's leg (prosthesis) tears coursing down my cheeks , thank heaven for waterproof mascara.
Carol, I can't even imagine someone giving up a 9 year old dog .. it'd break my heart ..
Susan I think realtors are more verbal these days .. or, at least suggestive .. very frustrating ..
Betty .. take care with that Wii .. I know they're great pieces of equipment, but a friend and colleague who works Emerg has told me that they have had numerous folks (varied ages) who have injured themselves using it .. mostly pulled muscles, but, a few have had cardiac episodes ..
Off to see the Tax people tomorrow .. Quicktax and me have had a falling out (to say the least) ..

Hello All, I'm Joelle from Moose Jaw,its ccccooold here! Made 1 degrees today but if the weather channel is right warm weather is on the way. I have started tomatoes, Bacopa and a few others. Just starting to get in the swing of things for spring.Happy Gardening!
G'morning .. TGIF !!! What a FAST week !!! Another one ..
Hi Joelle .. my son lost a runner (sneaker) at the McDonalds in Moose Jaw once many years ago as we travelled through on vacation heading for BC. Never did go back to find the running shoe as there were over 200 miles behind us before we realized he had dropped it. Never could keep him in his shoes !!!!
Very cool morning here .. it's propbably downright COLD, but, cool just sounds better .. the woodstove is keeping things warm.
Hope everyone has a great day, and, a splendiferous weekend ^_^
~M~
Hi Joelle, nice to see you again. I have some tomatoes started as well. Weather here as been mild, but we are extremely dry and could you a good 2 day soaker.
WHOA .. starting seeds .. hmm .. I would .. BUT .. in this area they'd be so GANGLY I'd likely lose'em .. will wait til mid April methinks ..
TAXES are a done deal .. thank you very much.. outta my hair .. outta my mind .. REFUND on the way .. YAHOOO ^_^
Quick Tax is a great program .. but .. you really DO have to have a 'simple' tax submission .. once you start adding stuff .. well .. let a pro handle it ..
Remains cool (cold) here .. tried to snow once .. windy windy .. blew a bird feeder down ..
A neighbour tells me she has seen 'bear scat' .. I thumped her on the head, hid her body and ran .. KIDDING !!!
WAY too early for bears .. that said .. there was a SPIDER in the shower unit this morning !! Always a harbinger of SPRING LoL
Take care all
~M~
Bit of rain this morning , could have used a good few hours and the ground would love it!
Went to the Humane Society to take out a sheltie and came home with two!
Both owner surrenders, one will foster with me , one in a home nearby, have to keep them in the city as they both will go back for dental work early April.
Breaker is a really big blue merle, Paisley a sweet little Bi Black.
Both seem to be nice dogs. Hard to get a pic of two dogs together by yourself!
FREEZING RAIN .. I walked out the back door with Lilly and cringed .. seems we have very nice coating of ice on things :-(
May decide to stay put today.
Carol .. a wonderful pic of 2 sweet sweet dogs, again, breaks my heart to hear they are 'surrenders' ..
Hope everyone has an enjoyable day ^_^

Marilyn - the realtor wouldn't give suggestions, in 2006 - not so long ago.........
Anyway, it looks like it will be a moot point - there's a glut on the market of trailers right now. One company is selling 100's of reconditioned trailers, and when they are sold, have 100's more....... for $19,900!
Mind you - I think without the moving cost or lot fee/rent.
I think it's a bad time to sell our trailer....... good to buy a house though. Can't get the $25,000 d/p without selling the trailer, so "catch-22".
Almost makes you wonder if you should rent the trailer and use the rent money for your house payment. Course .. that doesn't help with the downpayment .. rats !!!
Totally dreary day here .. rain and more rain .. but .. it is needed badly as the woods are very dry due to a lack of snow ..
Off to fold laundry
~M~
Hi DonM47,thanks for the WB!
Funny stories-Marilynne!
Pad rent for the trailer is $525. We couldn't get that much rent, so we'd still be "stuck" for the balance.
No, we'd be better off selling it, and even taking a loss..........
Yesterday i woke up and there was ice on the pool, my watering can had some water inside from the rain it was also frozen.. The last few days here have been chilly, winter coats are back on the rack.. Thankfully it should be warming up again through the week.. Its always the weekends that are crummy here lately :(
Tallulah I know what ya mean, sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do.. If the loss is out weight by the gain then its for the best.. We bought our house 2 years ago, when we thought the market was at an all time low and it was a buyers market.. Well since then they have dropped again..
jen
Morning all...guess who worked all day outside yesterday, all back gardens are done, not totally thanks to me, friend Cathy came over for 2 days and worked herself into a tizzy raking..my chore was to burn and start on front gardens..wasn't difficult for me to participate in 'Earth Day' last night as I was sleeping before 8pm..hope it still counts..lol
They were calling for rain today, just looked outside and can't tell much at 6am...oh well, I've plenty to keep me going inside..
Waving IMCanadian...welcome..
Markets around here are on the rise, don't know if I could take a move..always joking that my next move will be to old age home OR funeral home...
Susan, I'm sure you'll decide what's best for you and your sweetie..
Don you must be home if you've started tomatoes? How was the weather while you were away, different from other years?
Working on another rag quilt for one of the grandchildren and doing crochet on yet another...
Mom brought to the cottage an cross stitch kit for a queen size bed, rambling daisy it's called..she's not done the cross stitching, said it might be something I'd enjoy doing...hmmmm...in my spare time!!
Carol, what beauties..you just can't resist those eyes now can you...how old are they?
"M" glad you stayed put..only thing I'll not drive in is freezing rain, no control what so ever....
Well I'm off..tummy wants food then I'll sew for awhile...if it doesn't rain, I'll takle another outdoor project..nice to have my hands all filthy with dirt..have about 10 pairs of gardening gloves but ohhhh feels so good on the hands...
