Thanks for the links Crissy, did go and read...
Ohhh and what do you have planned for them, anything special or just visiting and catching up? wow, 4 day weekend..hope the weather co-operates..
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Visit with friends...
Nothing much up here-didn't feel good yesterday and plan to go back to bed in a few mins today-can't seem to keep a lot of things down that were fine until yesterday-hmmmm-oh well, will find new things to eat...
Your tastes are going to change often Stacey - it's all part of it but after a while you'll find a few things that will become staples that will always taste good and stay down!!. Sounds like you are doing great though. Keep smilin'!!!!!!
Oh Barb, that was a grimace, not a smile-LOL
Waving to all, I will never catch up so am just jumping in....sorry I don't get back over here very often.
Have had several Mom projects going that she needed help with....then we have been working on getting the last of the paperwork needed for the loan on Laura and Sean's new house...it will be nice to get the final word that everything is approved. Laura has been busy with work and rounds of dental work....that will be a long process. But with the job and the house she is much happier these days.
Sage wasn't too happy about the move...but since it means she gets to keep the two cats they rescued she has decided maybe it isn't so bad.
Glad to hear Kyle is doing well....the nice thing about being young, they heal rapidly.
Still working on a ton of Crochet projects...have new great nephew and my niece is due in early October....in addition to Stacey! And any items that don't go to those three can always go the Church Bazaar in November.
Still thinking about looking for a car soon, but have to admit that for the most part I really haven't missed being without. If I Really NEED a car for something mom always lets me use her car....and it keeps me from going out and spending money... my bike should be going to the painter soon and it looks like we will have a hot dry summer, soooo.......
It is Bill's day off so guess I had better get off of here and see what projects we can get done today...
Have agreat afternoon all!
hello all - I haven't forgotten y'all!
busy busy busy, both at work (11 hr day yesterday.......) and home (clearing out stuff for listing).
Take care, and remember - You are loved, by this ♫♪~§usan~♪♫
We miss you Susan. Try to take things as easy as you can... You and DH are in my prayers for a quick sale...
Debbie & Betty! Rolling on the floor over the mental pic of Betty the Gang Destroyer... LOL!!!!
Hugs,
Mary
LOL So much for me coming back today, Jeff called and didn't give me the CD I need, but I think I already have the stuff in the computer but don't know where to find what I'm looking for, so Ms. Cheerful actually asked for help nicely folding about 300 newsletters, so I helped her and that took most of the day, made the day go by really fast!
We're going to take them to Malvern to meet Dave's dad and Aunt Eller Thursday, then Friday will be spent sightseeing around the Ouachita's where we like to go and where the family reunion is held every month, and Saturday will probably be spent in Hot Springs mostly, sightseeing, barhopping, dancing, Dad loves karaoke so that is definitely on the agenda. I just realized I need to sit down and clean off this desk so she can use the computer LOL
Trish why spend the money when you really don't have to, unless you would just rather have your own set of wheels. I hope Laura gets her teeth fixed real soon, and that loan goes through! I bet she is so excited! I am so excited for her!
Susan! I'm so glad you posted, been wondering and worrying about you! Yup, one thing at a time, so you got it listed?
nope, not listed yet.
waiting to hear back from lender. The mortgage broker has sent all required docs to them today. Once they're reviewed, she'll let us know how much we're pre-approved for.
The realtor comes by on Saturday am, and we'll see what he has to say, once we get the pre-approval amount. Hopefully he'll list it right away........
Crissy, Barb - thanks for your thoughts, and good wishes..... The house we want (there are 2 on our short list LOL) are both still on the market. One's definitely in our price range, and we don't know about the other one. We'd make an offer, conditional on the sale of our trailer.........
Susan, we are still praying all goes well, and quick for you!
Hibiscus plants don't get too big, the biggest one I had was maybe 3 foot tall, and about 2 foot wide.
Morning everyone,
Opened my eyes and went to look outside, when I went to bed last night it was snowing very lightly, nope, no snow..happy dance here...
Susan you'll be glad to see quieter days, you must be exhausted and just want to know where you stand re the house...a worry for sure! Purging is the hard part..I've been here now 5 yrs. came with nothing and I cannot for the life of me think how I got so much that needs to find another home...
I'm not a garage sale person, LOVE to go to them but always think my stuff is meant for garbage if I no longer want it..thought the other day to start putting things in a plastic tote and put FREE on it and set it at the end of the drive... the homes you are looking at Susan, do they have areas big enough for to make gardens or would the Lord look kindly on you and give you a yard already mature with plants...wouldn't that be something..am sure you've looked...
Crissy, you does Elvis impersonations, you say he love karaoke, would he perform? You just have to have your camera charged..want to see photo's of the areas you sightsee in and of your dad and wife...nice of you to help Ms. Cheerful...hope she didn't depress you too much..
Trisha no need to catch up, know you are busy with many things, but we sure do miss you..updating us when you have time is greatly appreciated...now this bike that is ready for painting shortly, is it one of those high fandangle bikes your hubby makes...lucky you..when Greg was here the other night told him that my bike needed tunning or maybe I should purchase one..the one I have is an old one given to me..if I'm going to bikeride on the trails maybe a newer one would be in order..Mother's Day is coming isn't it? oooh think I already gave them my Mother's Day list... have to check that out..
When will Laura hear about the house..bet she's on pin and needles...with all you do for the family Trisha you deserve a vehicle of your own..imagine when you borrow mom's you feel as though you must ask her to join you every time..sometimes it's nice just to break free
Mary love the hibiscus and look at that garden walk done in stone..did you and DH create this oasis, am calling it an oasis because I've seen photo's of your garden..are the temps warming up that you can start to clear some of the winter growth from it...had thought maybe this weekend but calling for cold, snow, rain this weekend so it will once again be sewing..have another rag quilt cut out and ready to sew..
Stacey, how are you feeling this morning, isn't morning sickness the pitz...shortly is should be behind you ..hard working and feeling nauseated isn't it?
Barb, how's your sewing schedule going, still on target? Know you said you were in a resting funk, that's not bad, sometimes we have to re-generate...when I get like that out comes all my pattern books for painting, sewing and gardening..I leaf through, see the many things I want to do and before I know it I'm back with new ideas, new projects that I work twice as hard getting done..vicious circle..lol..what's Norm up to?
Waving 'Tubby' how are the plants coming along? See any growth?
Better get a cleaning the craft tables .. the painting group are here today..
Betty
The plants will wait............
I hope
Tubby
Good morning
Tubby do you think a hibiscus would grow here in NH? If so, I would dearly love tp have some seed. These pictures I'm seeing are so pretty....
Betty I'm back to the sewing. My down time doesn't last very long but I do keep busy with other things. I am still on track for for my table mats and have caught up a bit on block swaps. I'm on track for my Block of the Month club too.
This Sat I'm taking a class doing a "Buggy Barn" pattern. It is a special method similar to stack 'n whack. It's all day with a pot luck lunch so it should be fun.
Our cousins get together is tomorrow. We are meeting in the town where I grew up and there will be eight of us. Not a huge family reunion but fun just the same. We're hoping for a big one in the summer.
Waving hello to everyone - today is busy with laundry and sewing. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Hugs~~~Barb
Betty-you got that right....if I was able to stay home, lay in bed and look as bad as I feel all day every day, it wouldn't be as bad. But when I have to get up, get dressed to look semi-human and go to work where A LOT of the women that come in wear so much perfume that it has me holding my breath and then trying not to run for the bathroom.......that isn't too easy. The pills I got for the anti nausea help some, but they taste so horribly bad (I have to let them dissolve on my tongue) that I don't take them all that much-mainly just for work.
Stacey, saltine crackers...or maybe a few potato chips....baked potatoes are often a great thing to stay down, when nauseated ....I used to keep a few crackers in a baggie in my pocket...and had some chips every where I went...for some reason just a little bit of saltiness seemed to help me...............hopefully you will soon be over this uck phase, and on to the joys.....
LK, I have seen hibiscus at least 8 ft tall, here in Florida...don't know if it is different variety, or just our crazy weather.....
Barb, I would think it would at least grow up there...not to sure if it would be perennial tho, probably have to bring it in for the winter, as they sure don't like the cold....I have lost some in the past when we have had a bad winter....
Y'all have a great day...I am going to do some sewing, I hope...in between vet appointment, and grocery shopping....
Thunder, I have some perrenial hibiscus, they do well, don't grow quite as big as a rule...sounds as though you've a busy day...what are you sewing?
Stacey, when my kidney's gave up and I spent over 2 years a total of 1 yr. in hospital, couldn't even keep water down, the only things that would stay down and they couldn't understand why was those mini donuts with white powder on them..those I could it by the dozen and DID!
Oh goodness, I have never seen one that big. Are they in the ground, or in pots. I have all mine in pots. Maybe that is why?
I "inherited" one when I married. It grew to at least the top of the windows. It was a pretty red. I hated it because it reminded me of cotton, the blooms are so similar. I ended up cutting it down, Like to never got rid of it! It was winter hardy, to, in Tenn. I didn't know much about flowers back then!
Audrey, you feeling better today?
Bev, if you get a chance update please as to how you and Scotty are doing....
Mom just called, she has a cross stitch quilt kit 90 x 103" called 'drifting daisy' and thought it would be something I'd enjoy cross stitching..said as I have 2 boys and only 1 cross stitch quilt that maybe I'd like to get busy and get it done...just what I need, something else to keep me busy...wish you all lived closer..we could all do a daisy...lol
Betty, where does she get them from?
Betty, I felt better when I got up, then the "cotton" began to fill my head again. I went to Wal*Mart and got some Dramamine, and I hope this will take care of it!
Betty is this quilt all one piece? Or several small pieces sewn together?
It comes in 2 pieces , not quite sure where she buys them..had about 8 or so at one time thinking she'd get them all done, think they are all but the one I'm getting and 1 more then she says that's it, her eyes are getting too bad for this type of work..I'm NOT saying I'll get mine done, who knows, perhaps once I get started I'll be more enthused...she said the daisies are done in shades of pink and that there are scalloped edgings, think she said leaves/daisies...if Jim (SF) gets off work early Friday she'll drop it off to the office, have a feeling she thinks I'll go get all the threads this weekend...
Audrey, what are you allergic to? cotton? do you have fields of cotton in your area or am I dense and missing something? regardless, hope the dramamine works...
Cathy went to the post office and I got a swap box of lovely spring goodies, as well she brought me a bouquet of pussy willows , note said 'Happy Spring' lol..she must be out riding her bike..what a friend, usually she drops in during the day to let Sailor out, either she or her mom does...
Just did 45 minutes on the Wii..it missed me for a few days, wish it wouldn't keep track...as I exercised it told me how many calories I was burning, lordy you have to work yourself into a tizzy just to burn a few..oh well, a few is better than none right?
It's that time of night, on with my p.j.'s and relax a bit..tempted to get into something but I know better, couch it shall be...
Here's a pic I have of a hibiscus I grew outside - 6 ft tall!
As for the Lord looking kindly on me - 50% of the houses we look at have mature gardens :-) Some I would have to "tweak" lol
The Mortgage Broker still hasn't heard from the lender that said they would look at a mortgage for us. The lender has sent the request to their Head Office, and we MAY hear tomorrow.
The realtor comes on Saturday, so if we know how much we're pre-approved for, we can go-forward. Until then...........
Oooh isn't that a beauty, look at all the buds just waiting to open..spectacular I bet...doesn't it just annoy you to have to wait so long just to hear from them...best be patient I guess...saying a prayer you'll have good news tomorrow...
My girlfriend Ann that has a cottage not far from me, we paint a lot together in the summer, if you remember her husband had an operation on his arm to remove cancer...well they've now found a marking on his lung, goes to the specialist on Friday, anyway, they've been thinking of moving up here permanently at the cottage (really a home not a cottage)..their home in Mississauga got listed last Wednesday, by Sunday they had 3 offers, ended up a bidding war and got quite a bit more than they had hoped for so now they wait on news about Mike, if he needs surgery or chemo again they'll rent something for a few months or live with their girls who each have homes of their own ...and they say the economy is bad!!!
Told mom about Mike and Ann as they are interested in selling their home as well and moving to the cottage...in 6 months mom says the value of their home has increased about 35K..told her she better list it while the going is good...she's still not sure what they want to do...live up north or stay in the city!
Off to relax..finished my wii and now I'm pooped
Betty, I found this one online, is this what she does! Wow, not a bad price for the stamped fabric, but just so much work to put into them, I would truly cherish one forever!

Sorry forgot the link!
Lol, Betty! No, it's not cotton season! It just feels as if my head fills with cotton! I don't know what I'm allergic to, but I may have to find out.Seems like everytime I go outside, it rares it's head up again!
LK, that's gorgous!
it is pretty, wish I had the patience and know how to do it?
Hello To All - !!!
Betty - Thank you for calling it an "oasis"! It looks like a cemetary now... but I am whining... because it's just my first time dealing with a "hard freeze".... We've cut back a LOT of dead stuff and I'm seeing some green poke their heads out... and yes - DH did the flagstone pathway.....When you come visit Louisiana with the boys...you can see it for yourself... :) This will be a "learning year" for me... I am so very impatient... and I can't believe all the plantings we've lost......
Barefoot - DH said they will get 8' tall as well.. and I've seen pics of Tubby's Hibiscus...they were well over 8'... and a gorgeous Red color as well......
Audrey - I can understand why you compared them to cotton... They do look like that once the blooms die off.....
Susan - My Prayers that you find a wonderful home... no matter if you start from scratch or have to "tweak" a garden...you'll find it your own bit of paradise I'm sure....
I have found tropical hibiscus to be my favorite plant on this...my third year being a beginner gardener. DH planted the "hardy Hibiscus" which is the pic above. He wants to move it this year....as it "took over" the flagstone path we built. DH also planted a "Texas Star" hibiscus...which grew to over 6' tall on the other side of the path. He wants to move it to the spot where you see the Hardy Hibiscus...because it's a spot where we need a "Tall Skinny" plant....
I'll try to attach a pic of "Texas Star". Nice to post pics of plants when the backyard is a graveyard.... LOL!
Hugs,
Mary
Yes My hibiscus are in the ground...looking pretty crappy right now.....
Betty , I am working on a swap gift...so I can't quite say....also swap blocks, quilts for the sheriffs dept....a quilt for a friend...and many more.... and I wish I could come and do some Daises with you!!!!!
Audrey, check the computer for what's high pollen in your area right now..lots of the "weather" sites also have pollen info....our local news station has it on their web page....here it is grasses, and oak :( oak really gets to me..you say cotton head....I say I feel like i am trying to work underwater.....and eyes itchy all the time....I take allergy medicine from wall mart (compares to zyrtec) a little cheaper...one pill every day..doesn't cure it but it sure helps...you should check with your DR. and see if allergies are a possible reason.for you...sounds like it could be
well I am gonna go try to go to sleep, so I can get up and have time to sew in the mornin'
LindaKay, went and checked out that link, omg what beautiful cross stich quilt tops there are..and yes, that's the name of the kit mom is going to give me..pretty isn't it..let's hope I can do it justice
Audrey, Suzanne my SIL that I work with, it's a bad time for her as well, she's alergic to mold and there is so much mold in the old dead leaves on the ground that she finds it difficult to get through days until her yard is cleaned..feel for you...
Mary - G O R G E O U S and I don't just mean the garden..lol..you just have to show us more photo's of your oasis...I was drooling last year when you e-mailed me photo's ...hope you'll share..haven't heard of the Texas Star...as for seeing it for myself, don't temp me girl, you just never know where I'll end up..love road trips...
Thunder, how on earth do you keep us...you must be sewing 24/7
Yuk, I'm dizzy and nauseated....shake your heads now because I know you will when you hear what I've done..
Decided to do my Wii fitness program this morning, of course every morning you get monitored..told me I was fit 47 wii years BUT overweight, as though I needed her to tell me that..so off I went onto a program that you do steps..suppose to do 800 in 10 minutes..1st time did about 840, then I thought I'd be smart and show her, did another 10 minutes and did over 1,000..yikes almost fell to the floor from dizziness..not sure I should have eaten before doing my fitness program...won't do that again...I know, I know..stupid thing to do...but I've been at a standstill now for almost 2 months, not gaining just staying the same..got to do something..need to shed 15 lbs. by July to meet my goal...
Good Morning...
Betty, My gosh, talk about overdoing!!! Hey, you should try good old fashion Walking, good for the heart and muscles...
Not too long ago, i was on a health kick, quit drinking everything except water and i walked just about everywhere. Lost like 10-15 lbs.
Felt pretty good too..but you have to walk briskly...Are still drinking Pepsie??? I know, you hate water.
Yesterday took the day off, well sort of...Spent the whole morning reading threads, still some catching up to do...
worked on laundry and woohoo, planted some seeds! I had some of those starter kits. Sunflower, Shasta Daisey, so far thats what I have.lol not much.
Oh Tubby, I picked a bunch of Seed pods for you, The Japanese Iris, think you asked for them last fall.
...If you don't mind I would love a few Hardy hibiscus...Those above are gorgeous!
Also, i owe Susan some Alaskan Shasta Daisy...Hoping to get those off this week too.
Betty, Hahahaha, You had me laughing so hard at the prospect of Mr Noseybody watching the kids! The kids will be here by themselves.
We have laid down the rules, no different then if we are here. They are old enough to behave themselves...LOL, not at all worried about them starving, They are better cooks then me! Julia and Alissa will be "In charge" Jacob starts Football practice the week we are gone, So he will be in school 6:30 AM...until 6:30-7:30 in the evening and too tired to cause a ruckous, lol....So, Julia to drive him in the AM, Alissa to Drive Breenie by 8, after school Julia picks up Sabrina, Alissa to pick up Jacob. Julia and Anthony are here until 5:15 then they go to work until 10:00-10:30 home by 11, Alissa is here unitl 10:00 at night, then she goes to work until Morning...Steve, going shopping to Stock up the house for the two weeks, so if they don't gobble everything up in a day they will be set.
We have Stand by's...Cuz who is a matter of 15 mins away if need be, SIL will drop in on occasion and they have call in to grandma everyday..They also have 3 neighbors they can go to in case of emergency. We talked about Parties and how there better not be any, Julia had me laughing, said yeah all two of her friends...Haha, the only party they are aloud to Plan is Our Surprise 25th anniversary Party!
And i am quite sure the General will be on the Watch as soon as he figures out we aren't here...LOL, Jacob has caught him a couple of time prowling around and has no qualms about calling the law! OH...and there is to be no driving for Breenie while we are away, I've been allowing her to drive extra time.
We have International calling cards to call home and leaving one for them, lol in case they miss us. Then we will have internet access once we board the ship, so we can check in with them via e-mail.
Mary, We are going to the Cottage in Wisconsin this weekend. The five of us meaning we are not inviting friends or other family members to join us...Only problem is Julia has to work until 10 so will have to wait for her, Got to be back Monday because she has school....LOL, Geesh, I need a vacation!! Can't believe it only 9 1/2 more days!!
Last night, I prepared a list addresses for postcards, type up labels today and get them in our folder, Yep you are on the list Betty and Liz!
...
Yikes, can you believe the blower in my heater blew again, grrrr. so car is back in the shop! Took it to a different place, so hopefully it will get fixed once and for all, got to be a short somewhere. Just got new tires, and had to replace the license plate bulbs, Yikes Julia got a warning ticket for that! Had to take Steve's van in for Breaks yesterday...OK vehicals can stop breaking now.
Tonight we are going shopping for some luggage and a good backpack, and a few other trip necceseties.(sp?)
We are waiting for one last confirmation and all that's left is finish packing, which i will be finalizing my stuff today and start gathering Steve's...
Betty are you feeling Better by now??? I sure hope so.
Well, i think I've been typing for ever this morning...Got to clean my kitchen.
Then i will be back to chat...
Susan, Yep keeping you in thoughts and Prayers, hope you hear something soon! It will be wonderful to have a ready started garden to tweek and make your own!
Waiving hello to everyone.
Hey Liz, how are you? Whattya up to? lolol, tell Kenny, them peas are on my shopping list, hahahah.
g'morning all - take care, and I'll see you later.
Hello to Judy and Susan. Sounds like you both are very busy, one at work and home, the other busy planning her trip! I would be so worried about leaving kids behind, but then that is how they learn. Give them instructions to follow, and punish them when they don't follow those instructions!
Judy, you have a great time on your trip!
