Oh Betty that is absolutely gorgeous!!!! was it quilted by hand??? think I remember you posting about it before.....
can I borrow a few of these photo's ?? Had some one ask me about how to do some quilting on a cross stitched quilt...and this is just what I was trying to explain....outlines around the designs...then stitching to fill in the backgrounds..crosshatching was one of my suggestions....
Posted on sewing thread about how wonderful this quilt is. What a treasure...
Hello To All;
Thanks Barb - I just hope it is all part of "Fate" ...that he has to wait a year to enlist. Maybe we'll just enroll him in Community College until then...
Judy - Skittles is precious!
Crissy - It sounds as though the funeral was somewhat healing for DH...getting to see old friends and reminesce..... Laughing at your "Listening for the phones that don't ring"...LOL
Barefoot - Love your pics...that looks much like my back yard...unfortunately I pulled the shamrocks for weeds...but they are pretty...aren't they... I"ll probably leave them if I see more... DH teases me when I leave weeds since he knows I'm obsessed with weeding... LOL!
Betty - SO glad Kyle is okay. I do believe he is destined for greatness...he is such a stellar young man....
BEST: I was invited to a "Monthly Pokeno" get together.... and spent a great night with ladies ...some new friends and some very very old friends and had a blast... (No Pokeno)
Worst: Had lunch with a young friend who is about to begin the process of divorcing her husband...so I am sad for her
Learned: well... I should know this at my age....just it's always amazing how life changes and evolves...and one thing affects another... I think I need to learn to Slow Down....
Hugs to all,
Mary
Betty, that is so beautiful, but I think I would proudly display it on my bed! Maybe on a rod to hang on the wall?
morning all,
my shamrocks were blooming too love those little plants.
Betty, that is one beautiful quilt, lots of patience went into that, still plugging along on the crochet one :( taking forever lol.
Kenny still on same job working 70-75 hours 6 days gawd, he tells them every other week he is going to take a weekend off he just needs the rest,
oh and he did call the breeder we got asta from, she no longer breeds she only shows dogs now, so they gave us the number to a couple who she gets hers from, so i will call and get info from him today
get our ducks in a row and take it from there when the time is right.
Judy thanks for the call nice to yap as always.
Crissy????hang in there, is this something they have been doing since you moved?
big hug to you.
waving to tubby how are you doing?
Mary, nice to get together with friends and have a great old time.
waving to everyone have a great day.
Morning everyone! It is Friday, and I hope you all have a great week-end!
Morning!! I do lurk and read every day, but usually nothing exciting to peep in with, so I just hang out in the background.
We had our first OB appt. yesterday. It was interesting. We got a little bag with some samples, a ton of magazines and a little journal of sorts for me in it. We both REALLY like the Dr. and found her very easy to talk to. She gave me a list of meds I can take for things like heartburn and a prescription for the nausea. We had our first ultrasound and got to see the little face, hands and heartbeat. It was soooo cool and a little weird at the same time. There really is a little human living in my body-that is a weird concept for me to grasp.
Lizrainy
I'm doing fine......................
Tubby
Waving 'tubby' and hugs sent to Shirley..hope you are both well...
Stacey you can't get more mundane than I with posting..it's just nice hearing what everyone is up to...omg how overwhelming it must be to see the photo..I'm not ancient but we didn't have things like that when my children were born nor did hubbies get too involved at least mine didn't..soon you'll be feeling the little one move, now that's a heart felt feeling I wish you could capture for all time..how exciting for you both..will you get to see Janice more often now that she is closer..will take her time to adjust I'm sure..saw her post that she's missing her spring flowers..that's to be expected...
Liz, don't they have a law where you are are not allowed to work that many hours on a week? think we do..that's when accidents happen, especially driving and tired..let's hope his previous company is able to take him on...you musn't have any time to spend with him...hoping you still get to do your Sunday run to the city...sounds as though you are anxious to get a puppy..sooo much fun but mega work..
Linda Kay do you still have the boys..you'll be needing a rest I'm sure..
Just talked to Greg, Kyle has a specialist appt. tomorrow in Collingwood to see how things are going..Noah then has hockey tournament so another full weekend ahead for them..
Greg will spend time cleaning back deck..says he'll work on pool, I'm afraid once he sees that they are calling for rain and snow tomorrow that will put an end to his plans...just incase, ordered a bi-fold door for basement closet and asked him to drop in and install...mom's...now let's see if he can find time...I'll go after work and pick one up as I'm dropping into Fabricland on my way home and it's just around the corner..if it can't fit into the Aveo then they will deliver it and the trim tomorrow morning...if I soon don't get Greg to do a few things it will go from snowmobile to boating and I'll not get the help...
Keep looking on my way to work at the 2 nurseries to see if they are open, know they said they'd be bringing in continuous blooming lilac trees, sure don't want them to sell them all before I can get 2-3 or 4..lol
Love my lilacs but they just don't last, this way I can have cutting all summer long..
Liz, I'm still doing crochet here at the office, almost finished my squares for this one...
http://www.allfreecrafts.com/crochet/nine-patch-afghan.shtml
Betty, Tubby posted "first" on the last of the old thread. Just thought you'd want to know!
He's up on things isn't he...thanks Audrey and how are you doing? still sewing?
Tubby, how's your plantings coming along?
I'm not feeling well today, nor yesterday. Spent most of it in bed, probably will today, too.
Betty-I am sure I will indeed see more of mom living as close as she does now. I want to give her a little settling time and then she had friends coming to see her this weekend. I am sure in a couple weeks I'll go spend some time with her...
Morning Betty, Yes I still have the boys. I will take them back on Subday, as the oldest one has school on Monday! I will take a long hot bath, when I get back home. I don't know where they get all the energy!!!
Love the 9 patch afghan, it is so pretty, what colors are you using?
Tubby, sorry to hear your not feeling well, you just get the rest, your body is telling you to get.
Audrey, sorry to hear your not feeling well either! Hope you get rid of what is ailing you. So many have the breathing problems now, guess there are lots of pollens in the air.
Liz, glad to hear you can find another puppy when you ready! We keep saying we will not get another dog, but somehow, one always finds us!
Audrey get to feeling better hun! Don't want to see anyone all sicky. I didn't feel good yesterday, but it didn't feel like a flu or anything, just icky stomach. I'm fine today though.
Liz, this has been coming up every month since Dave got his 60 day layoff notice last November. They want him to come out but don't care about me, and as far as I know, being married means you're a packaged deal, and everyone gets all or nothing. LOL And if we can't afford for me to go buy a pair of jeans we can't afford for him to go to CA and spend an unknown amount of time there. The last time he went somewhere to help family his 6 week trip turned into a 3 1/2 month trip and a huge ego attitude to go along with it, and I absolutely refuse to do that again, at all cost.
Stacey I am so glad you had a great appointment! I bet it is hard to get that you have a living being inside you!
So my next door neighbor's Rottie had her puppies the night before last!! 6 of them, 3 boys and 3 girls!
Stick to your guns, girl! Sounds like they'd like to split y'all up!
Audrey is it the flu or just not feeling up to par???
Crissy, don't you be looking at those puppies too closely, usually doing so gives you the urge to take one home..big responsibility... wow, gone 3 1/2 months, that's not just a visit..can imagine the time you had re-adjusting
LindaKay, smilling here, been there and needed a 2 week vacation, always wanting to do something then, as they grow older and have all those computer game toys they go from never sitting to just sitting and playing..I'm so glad my grandsons are heavily involved in sports and other activities that keep them out of mischief..having said that maybe Kyle should have been playing inside..less of a chance getting hurt...
I'm doing the 9 quilt patch each in different colors...5 patches in a solid and the 4 patches in matching variegated wool, haven't decided on the outer and corner block colors as yet..almost done my blocks so soon have to decided..have no idea who will get it...
Crissy-Please don't be mad, I am playing a little devil's advocate, and be an objective observer. I figure if you post it here that we are OK to give an opinion or two. Since I am not there and don't have the whole story I could be completely off about everything. If so, sorry and I'll shut it in the future and I am in no way discounting your hurt feelings. Feelings are real and true, but sometimes get in the way of rationality-trust me-I know first hand........I just don't want you to be hurt or upset if you don't need to be.
I have to say I agree with some of your points. If you all don't have any money, then he shouldn't be even thinking about going. I don't agree however that being married means you are always a package deal. When we lived in CA and AZ and flew home, we would each spend about 3-4 days alone with our families before we spent the rest together. It was nice and we enjoyed it immensely. It is healthy to take some time apart and occasionally take separate vacations if that is what you want. With that being said, I don't know Dave's family, but I can't remember you saying anything B4 that would make me believe they were intentionally malicious by only offering to cover his ticket. I am also not there for the conversations. Maybe they go something like Dave saying you can't afford two tickets to come to CA and they say they'll cover one....then that gets turned around in man speak to "My family said they'd fly me out to CA"....the odds are that the huge ego thing comes form the practice of "the prodigal son returns" type thing. He goes to see his family whom he hasn't seen in a while, and of course the time he is there, he is doted upon and treated in an overall princely manner. Then he comes home, back to reality and he expects the day to day workings that he has grown accustomed to to continue. Hence your frustration and need to do and attitude readjustment on him...
I may be an idiot, just trying to offer another perspective on things that is not antagonistic in nature.......
I'm JUST SOOOO thrilled to have you back Stacey..I've missed your to the point posts..you've given me clarity several times in the past...
What schedule are you working Stacey?
Hey Liz - What will you name the new puppy? Or do you have something in mind?
Hugs,
Mary
Morning...
Here I am up at 4:00am, joining 'Tubby' in the non sleeping group....tried/tried to sleep so finally I thought maybe I could be more productive up and at it, so here I am sewing the golf rag quilt in hopes that this afternoon I can go to laundrymat and wash/dry and ready to wrap, know if I don't Jeff will come and take it home with him..maybe I'll let him..lol
Betty-I work all kinds of hours. Whatever I can for the most part......I am up right now to finish laundry before I go in this am...
g'morning all my friends
Hiya Tubby - glad to see you posting ^_^ Take care!
Sorry I don't post much - been really busy here, with work & home !!
Take care everyone! Gotta get off this "thing" and get to work today, it's almost NOON! yikers!
♫♪~§usan~♪♫
Hope you've both had a great day at work..
I'll still going strong, been a long time since just after 4a.m.
I'm so close to finishing Jeff's rag quilt..ran out of black flannel for 3 squares so I waited until Timbrr Mart delivered bifold door for downstairs entrance closet then ran into Midland to get flannel..right there right back..thought I'd have a look at the door, even contemplated hanging it..metal channel that door hangs from was short, looked at the door and it was a 30" rather than 36" ..drats..put the black flannel into the washer, then dryer and head back into Midland and got the right door..
Greg called, said he was waiting for news on how the appt. with specialist went for Kyle then would come over...ooohh maybe hand my door? so he loves spaghetti, had some in the freezer and knows just how much he likes lemon merangue pie so back into town for pie crust (too busy to stop and make it) and now I'm back on track ..not sure for how much longer..lol..
Can see Greg coming to visit, me stopping to spend time with him and falling asleep..
Crossing my fingers that when I show him the bifold he'll install..even bought the trim...
If he's too tired as he's been working long hours this week, I can do it tomorrow morning..can't be that hard..did all the mirror closet doors in the bedrooms so can't be that much more work...
One thing about me, NO PATIENCE...
Well, now I want to know if the door got hung or not....Yumm-Lemon Meringue Pie
Morning Stacey! How you feeling today?
Morning everyone! 32 here this morning, and we are all freezing! Supposed to warm up to 73 later today!
I am OK this morning. Ate some pudding and a plate of fruit. Will eat again B4 work....I feel like all I do lately is eat and sleep!!LOL
But that's good for you Stacey. I'm sure you do enough running around at your job to qualify as exercise. Just as you grew while you slept, your new little one does too. I just grin every time I think of you becoming a Mom - I'm so happy for you.
LK you are up bright and early this morning!!
I think today may be the day we finally get rid of the snow in the yard!!!! Although we are supposed to get precipitation later today our elevation may make it snow instead of rain. But I sure hope not!! I'm so tired of white!!
Off to the sewing machine for a while. Have a great day!!!!
Meant to ask if the door got hung Betty.. Did you enjoy your spaghetti?
Tubby - both Norm and I send warm wishes and hope you are gaining strength. Sending hellos to Shirley too...
Quilter...Norm......................
Thank for your thougt.................
Tubby
Morning all, ohhh is it bitter cold, got the fireplaces going in hopes of warming up..slept in till 7am - woke up at 4:30 again and said nope, you stay in bed and did!
Got Jeff's rag quilt done, now it's dust and vacuum the entire house..now how do those cut threads travel into every corner?
No, no door, felt bad for Greg, he made up time this week for being off 2 days with Kyle, came over had spaghetti and lemon merangue pie, at one point he's standing over the stove with plate in hand asking when it would be ready, lordy it was only 3pm, said he hadn't eaten all day..I set my sewing aside, thought I'd spend quality time with him...too funny, here's the quality time
every time I went to change the sci fi movie to a different channel he'd say he was just resting his eyes and watching it...
Cathy dropped in around 7:00pm and while Greg slept I was telling her that I must have heard 6 or 7 times how his old quilt blanket that he cuddles in is all but finished..got a chuckle about that...before Greg left I took out my cross stitch quilt to show them and while we were oohing and ahhing (of course he told me to put his name on it) he starts asking Cathy (she cleans their home) if she's noticed the old rag torn quilt laying on the couch, hasn't it seen better times, yep, ready for garbage...my question to you all, do YOU think HE was hinting to get me to make him one? laughing here...guess that will have to be my next project...
As for the door, as he was leaving he told me he had to do chemicals and change filter in the hot tub this morning, had to get the boys dirt bike from the facility that did servicing and then hockey for Noah this afternoon but said at some point he'd be here, reminded me that it would NOT be at 6am..
We'll see...
Off to get dressed and get the house back to normal..then decide what other mischief I can get into...
LindaKay, 73 degrees, omg I'd be swimming and wearing short shorts, well maybe not short shorts but peddle pushers at least..bet you've got your gardens cleaned and ready for planting?
Stacey, you are eating for 2..sounds like what you are eating is healthy for both of you..is morning sickness (not sure why they call it that when it's not just in the morning) really bad? feel for you..
Into sewing those pocket bags..tapping my fingers wondering if Greg will come..lol..did vacuum everything, dusted and not it's time to wash the floors...with the kitties/doggie in out/out and in all day it's amazing what their paws bring in, drives me crazy so off I go, on my knees making everything pretty and then I can play again...
