Greenshed Party

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Summer, everyone was right.... your fairy would be a wonderful addition to my garden. I am sure that she would have tons of adventures to share with the girls that already populate my world!

Willow, I can't believe thta you had that much snow! We have been having a bunch of the "ice from the heavens" but fortunately no snow. Still, lots of blooming kids are showing a bit of damage..... Your yard is so beautiful even without blooms that I know that everyone will be awed!

Pony, I am going to bring a bucket of my crocosmia bulbs and you are welcome to as many as you would like. They are orange rather than the red of Lucifer, so would definitely add another dimension to your yard. I just loved them when I lived in Federal Way... they just have gotten a bit over zealous in my mountain soil.... as has Lucifer for that matter.....

Really looking forward to this get together!

Langley, WA(Zone 7b)

Julie, I'd love one or two of the orange.

Does anyone want Lily of the Valley?

(Linda)Gig Harbor, WA(Zone 8a)

How about Joe Pye weed? This should be fun.....thanks but I think I will pass on the crocosmia bulbs.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

I would love some Lily of the Valley and Joe Pyeweed. Thank you!

I am bringing some of my tomato seedlings, amongst other stuff.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

I will take pretty much anything! Especially veggie seedlings & any of the following starts to replace the ones that didn't survive the move: Heuchera Obsidian, Mocha or Lime Ricky, ninebark Diabolo. Anything with black, white, red or chartreuse foliage. Any aloe offsets out there?

Here's what I can offer:
*Statue-y stuff for Gwen, Julie & Pony.
*Seedlings of the following nasturtiums: Alaska, St. Clements, Princess of India, Night & Day mix, Black Velvet.
*Cuttings of corkscrew willow & 2 kinds of rosemary
*A magenta-flowered vinca that looks great with the regular blue
*A few garden books & miscellaneous

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Oh, I would like a tomato or two and maybe some nasty tursions

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Gwen, You can have as many crocosmia bulbs as you want... I will be bringing plenty. ^_^ (Linda, you best watch me when we come to pick you up....I play a pretty mean "Johnny Appleseed" with those bulbs!!)

I have some baby sword ferns potted that I will be bringing for anyone who is interested. I will also bring a bucket of Creeping Jenny, and the plants that I have promised Gwen and Kathy. I wish I had more to contribute, but I just have not had the time to collect much.

I do have some daylily seeds that I would be willing to share if anyone is interested. These are from my breeding program, and are crosses of Bittersweet Holiday

and Halloween Hocus Pocus

The down side of daylilies is that it will be two or three years before they bloom. The plus side is that they will be unique flowers that no one else has. I will only be bringing seeds if someone requests them, but have plenty to share for anyone who wants them.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Julie - I'd love seeds of the daylily "Rarejem" series . . .

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Ditto.

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Ditto. I have a very pretty dark dusky red DL and I have some babies and a clump we could divide if anyone wants to do so.

If you didn't get the email from Gwen about directions, let me know and I dmail you.

Daylily seeds being set aside! I love both the parents and they are strong plants in our climate, so the babies should be stunning as well as robust.

I also have some first year hellebore seedlings that I will bring if anyone wants them. I have several of the babies in various places in my yard, and they tend to go toward the dark burgandy.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Julie - if they're orientalis (do they get tall?), I'll trade you for a few pink ones. These get over a foot tall - nice and straight.

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

I also have baby hellebores. Pacific Frost, the stinking hellebore one, and a few two year olds that I don't know who they are.

I have a big bag of potting soil we can use and a couple dozen pots.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

And I'll try to remember some small pots - I do have a few. :-)

I've potted up many lady's mantle, lunaria, and native dicentra seedlings. Does anybody want any Indian Plum yearlings? I have quite a few starts around here. I'll mostly be bringing miscellaneous babies that have volunteered in the yard . . .

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

YES HELLEBORES. OK, the sun is out & I am out in turn, looking for more stuff to trade so I can GET more stuff ...

Also adding the little stained-glass sun to my list, who was that for? Gwen?
And some metal wind chimes with a triangular resin top that has suns & moons on it.

(Linda)Gig Harbor, WA(Zone 8a)

Julie it looks like you already bulbed my yard. I just might toss a few into your truck! ha

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Also, bloody Mary seeds & plantlets owed to Pones.

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Kathy, my hellebores get over a foot tall, and I would love to trade for some lighter colors (but don't go out of your way to deplete yours because as you can see from the picture, that I have MANY seedlings to find homes for!) I will bring a few small clumps of them for others as well, and we can divide as needed.

Willow, I would love a stinking hellebore baby... I have one, but it has had a few puppy feet on it over the last year and has suffered some....

I will see what I have in the way of smaller pots to bring as well... again the puppy thing...some have been reverted to chew toys...

This is my hellebore riot...the blooms are basically done, but most seedlings run to this color. I am fond of my big clump, but that little green river of babies flowing forward toward the edge of the garden has to find another place to grow.

Linda... you can't blame the daughter for the sins of the mother! :P Betcha we could have a glorious time using Pony's guerilla gardening technique on the way to Willow's though!

(Linda)Gig Harbor, WA(Zone 8a)

Rarejem-Ahhh the truth is revealed! (Actually they came from my mother) Guerilla gardening sounds like a good idea..we could just toss them out on the way!

Kingston, WA

Hi Everyone, It has been along time. I read on here every once in a while and see a bunch of new names and some familiar ones. Not butting in on willows fun but if anyone want to come and visit stop on it. I saw a few of Dave's garden folks last year and that was great.

Pixy I sold one of your nice leaves so you might need to come and shop or d-mail me and I can send you some moola.

Have fun at willows and I love all the pictures. Heidi

Julie, the daylily seeds that you gave me are sprouting rather nicely!

OMG Julie, is that river of green really all Hellebore babies? I had no idea - I currently have just planted one because they are so expensive (relatively speaking) and I wanted to see how it would do. But, if they really spread that much I can't imagine they'll stay expensive too much longer!

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

I also have an extra potted-up horseradish root from my mother plant back in Illinois if anyone is dying to try this lovely plant. They are rather pretty & actually bloom (I plant mine in a deep trash barrel & then dump it over in the fall & extricate the roots. That way, no trying to dig them out of hard ground & no worries that they will crawl through your dining room window one night.

Vashon, WA(Zone 8b)

Hi Summerkid, I was the stained glass sun recipient. I don't know exactly what I'm bringing along yet, but hopefully something of interest to you.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Please don't feel obligated, of course, and I'm so new that every little plant seems magical!

Langley, WA(Zone 7b)

Julie, I'll try some daylily seeds. Can I grow them in pots til they are of a size for the garden? Also any hellebore seedlings you want to share.

Summer, yes, it was Holly, not me, for the stained glass.

Lynn, I'll try one of your tomato seedlings. Last year I started quite a few from seeds but my best plants by far were the ones I bought at our local farmer's market. They were some russian variety.

Bringing lily of the valley for Lynn, Summer, and whoever else is interested.

Summer, I would be interested in a rosemary cutting as well as the magenta-flowered vinca. Also the nasturtiums, esp st. clements, and black velvet.

I'll take a walk out today and see what else I can dig up.

I have a hosta that gets pretty big. It was here when we moved in so am unsure of the variety, but I believe it may be sum and substance.
Anyone want some of that?

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Again, don't forget the man who is coming to collect plants for his widow group. I'm sure he will appreciate anything we can give him.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Also, strawberry plants for all.
And does anyone need ajuga? It's smallish but vigorous & has reddish leaves. There are so many groundcovers here but I figure that if I have it, probably all you veterans do too.

Langley, WA(Zone 7b)

Ajuga is kind of a weed in my area. I have a lot of it. The good thing is it pulls fairly easily but always always comes back and pretty quickly too.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

The ajuga doesn't have a chance against some of the other stuff crawling the ground here. Especially this kind of strange-smelling thing that looks like lemon balm & seems to leap tall buildings.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Summer, I don't need the bloody mary anymore- the babies I had that were struggling last year have perked up, and now I have too many. Go figure.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Oh! And speaking of guerrilla gardening, I can bring a bunch of the empty gelatin capsules for people to load with seeds- they fling really good, great for drive-by seedings. ;)

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Went out at 7:00 AM and it was snowing big flakes. It continued for about ten minutes. The sun was shinning the whole time. Now it is beautiful out there.
We are supposed to get another storm and then Saturday should be mostly sunny. Unless there is snow on the ground we can manage whatever happens.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Willow, what would you like us to bring?

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

I'm more than a little disappointed that I can't come.

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

I have the main course, bread, drinks, champange and carrot cake. Looks like we will have fifteen or twenty here. If you would like to bring some speciality of yours that we would all love, please do so.

Now they are saying sunny and 53 degrees on Saturday.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

How about pesto & hummus from me?

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

I'll probably bring a big lettuce salad too.

(Sharon)SouthPrairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Julie and I are bringing fresh veggies and dip.......something we are craving these days.
