I would love a carex or Lunaria seedling - and I'll have to admit I don't know if the Dicentra I already have is the wild one or not.
I'm planning on coming, as I'm really enjoying this forum and hoping to see a gorgeous greenhouse/greenshed and meet some of you in person. But I'm new to the whole plant exchange/swap thingy. I'll probably have a lot of extra vegetable seedlings, as I always start too many - and probably too many annual flower seedlings as well. Is that the kind of thing anyone would be interested in if I brought my extras?
Greenshed Party
Alas, with the timing, the only thing that I will probably be able to offer for exchange this time is crocosmia bulbs (lots!!! but not bringing them if no one is interested... will be an addition to my new woodland area.) And I am promising myself that I will not come home with anything that I have not already asked for from people.....will get a handle on my yard again this year..... will get a handle on my yard.....
Gwen.... are you planning on making it? I have your phlox set aside and will bring if so... if not, they will come to Whidbey with me. Kathy, your SS is still in the ground but will be coming with me unless you tell me otherwise.
Kymmco... It will be great to meet you in person, just as I am totally looking forward to finally meeting Willow. What a perfect excuse to OOooh and Aaahhh over someone's new addition as well as socialize in person for a change.
Pony, what movie is it that your deer carcass comment reminded me of? Can't remember for sure, but know that I will be going to bed giggling over the visual. BTW... just thought that you should know that Ivy's lobelia are sprouted and looking happy, even if teeny tiny!
Kymmco, it will be great to meet you! I have plenty of both the Carex and the Lunaria, so I'll save some for each for you. The native dicentra isn't tall and the "hearts" aren't as well formed as the other. I'll bring some extras of that, too.
Julie, I have no idea... I don't remember seeing it in a movie.
I'm very happy to hear about the Lobelia sprouting. The vinca minor that she asked me to grow for her is in full bloom right now. So pretty. :) Actually, The vinca minor has already spread enough that I could take some starts if anybody wants them... any interest?
Pony, I think it was an animated movie... maybe Open Season? Anyway, it was a pretty funny scene as the deer was just tied there and wanted off.....
Vinca is a wonderful plant this time of year...mine is blooming as well, and I love the color.
I'd love some lunaria.
Julie, I am planning to come. The only thing that would prevent me is that I have to take my son on a college visit and it'll be sometime in April. We haven't figured out the date yet. But otherwise, I'll be there! Hoping to find someone to carpool with, at least from the ferry onwards.
Don't forget the man who is coming to pick up plants for his widow's sale. He will take anything we have. This is a good opportunity to get rid of all extras. Kymmco I'm so glad you are coming. Your seedlings should be perfect to swap.
Gwen - Lunaria for you!
And I'll big several plant for the widows' plant sale, too.
Pony, if you don't mind a dog you can ride with me and (I hope) Susybell.
Kymm, I would love any extra veggie seedlings you might have being as that I'm still out of my element here & probably won't start my own.
A rusty fairy? Is that anything like a fallen angel?
Well, she has a ways more to fall if nobody else wants her.
Bring her along with you. Someone will want it. Maybe me. I like rusty stuff.
I do too. Just not this one.
If none of our crowd wants her, My MIL would love to have her. She's making a fairy garden and is going bonkers over anything fairy-themed.
Oh good. It actually is attractive & a nice large scale, just not in keeping with my other stuff.
I would go perfectly in Rarejem's garden. She has a lot of fairies.
Oh good. I thought that was Pixy, or I would have offered it to Julie in the first place.
I'm going to find MORE stuff here in the shrubbery that would look so much better in someone else's garden.
Any takers for a little yellow & blue stained-glass sun?
I might go for a little yellow and blue stained glass sun. It could be just the thing to liven up a trellis/fence by my entry walk.
Yeah, as soon as I saw that, I thought 'Julie's garden' too!
gwen
Done. It's about 8 inches in diameter & the rays stick out.
Spent three hours outside yesterday and today. Got the back patio all cleaned up. Don't know if I'll be able to spray the bricks with moss kill or not.
Hey Julie- what are your crocosmia? I have enough 'Lucifer' but would be happy to have any other kind...
My neighbor has offered to make a carrot cake for our party. She does make excellent carrot cake.
How nice is that?
Yum!
Susybell & I are now definitely yesses on the party. But we won't be staying overnight anywhere because both of us have things to attend to on Sunday.
CANNOT WAIT!!!
Great!
Willow, we WILL come bearing gifts; so, if you have any requests, speak NOW or within a week.
Definitely coming. Our college visits are set for this Monday and Friday the 16th, so next Sat is clear for me.
I'm still looking for someone to carpool with. Do we go across on the Edmonds ferry? I could meet you in the parking lot there.
I regret that I will not be able to come. Photos please!
Sorry you can't come Portland. I was so looking forward to meeting you.
Right now we have an inch of snow and it is really coming down. Most tender things are bent over. Hope everyone has a good 'what it would have looked like' ability. ^_^
no present for me. I have no room, in or out. Tried to make that bold print, didn't work.

Oh, no, Patricia! Snow? Let's hope it melts off fast.
When I left for work there was no wind at home, but driving west to catch the bus, I met some pretty wild gusts. It was a fun ride into downtown Seattle. Looks like there's no wind here now, though, so let's hope this was the last of that.
Willow, that's the thing about gardeners...we have to exercise our ability to envision the possibilities all the time.....what it could look like...the potential in even a difficult location...what it might have looked like if,,,,
What it would have looked like is not at all difficult, but I bet it is going to look fabulous to all of us even if you can see the little things that are not exactly as you might wish after the snow effect.
That's for sure Holly. Are you coming for sure? It did stop snowing and the sun is sort of shining. Maybe it will straighten up like it did after the freeze. We are having some wind.
Major rain and wind here, with the wind still going strong altho the rain has stopped. Winter has arrived!
The seasons are sure getting short around here.
or we just skip them altogether....
Yikes! you guys, now it's your turn. We had a gloriously sunny day in the 70's.
I know you WILL have a great time. I'm looking forward to all th epics.
Willow, I'm going to do my best to get there, although in my crazy life sometimes things come up.
