I took the day off yesterday and went to the local shooting range and sighted in my new 30-30. The range is in the Daniel Boone Nat'l Forest. Beautifull place. I've got to go back just to look around when the place greens up. All the pine trees, maples and wild flowers will be great in the late spring.

Today back to business of working in the yard after I get back from town.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

You can tell that spring is just about here now as the grass is beginning to grow much faster again....that is if you call what we have "grass". It has the texture/softness of dried up hay. Not very comfortable to sit on. It still hasn't fully recovered from our January freezing temperatures. At least its not all dug up yet by the wild hogs in the area. I had no idea we have a wild hog issue here in this part of Ft Lauderdale. Didn't even know they lived here. Thought all dem Razorbacks lived in Arkansas. Here little piggy, here little piggy. Sooie sooie sooie.

Lets join up and go hunt down them piggies tearing up amorecuore's lawn. We'll teach them piggies a lesson. Pit roast anyone?

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

LOL. They're not tearin up my yard yet and I haven't seen them. They're in some vacant/undeveloped lots about 1-2 miles south of me. Apparently they're very aggressive if they're messed with. I still can't believe we have hogs in metropolitan Ft Lauderdale. Baffles me. "Sick em Jaws. Go get da swine" (not the flu swine).

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

You wanna see what they did to my lawn... grrrrrrr!

My I borry yer 30-30? Well, maybe not, but its the thought that counts. I have my own arsenal!

Far up the coals there patty, looks like your BD cake is toast anyway! LOL!

Oh no. Not them "Horror Movie" photos again. Looks like that 'clean up" has been left there for quite some time....especially when the hound is afraid of it.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

BBQ pit being prepared. Bring them piggies. Someone has to make some potato salad, and we need good BBQ sauce.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

dang, all i got is seed taters...

Thumbnail by BLOSSOMBUDDY
Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

you better hurry and get them taters grown!! We're going to need them! Whose going to make the BBQ sauce??

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

I can make a mean potato salad with lots of mayo and no dang sugar. Hate it when peeps put sugar in potato or macaroni salad!!!..... but I don't know how to make BubbaQ sauce.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

I haven't figured out why some people put sugar in potato or macaroni salad. I agree with you! Hate sugar in potato or macaroni salad!!! Had some BBQ sauce once that was made with pepsi. It was very good. But I don't have the recipe. Someone out there has to have a recipe for some good BBQ sauce for these piggies!!

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

Looked up the recipe online for BBQ Sauce with Pepsi. It takes a whole 12 oz can of pepsi. My other Florida brother would know. He's roasted a whole pig before. One of my favorite things he makes is a Cajun Style Shrimp Boil. You boil tons of shrimp, sausage, red potatoes, ears of corn (cut into 1/3 pieces), onions, artichoke halfs in water seasoned with lemon, salt & pepper, a whole container of Old Bay and some hot sauce. You then remove the liquid and pour the contents on a table covered with newspaper. You then use tongs and put what you'd like to eat in a bowl. Now I'm hungry. The roasted pig and shrimp boil would sure make for a great warm weather party. M m good y'all.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

I'm baaaaACK!. Cleaned all day and still didn't get done.

Thanks for the moldy cake BB. I'll leave some coffee in the pot for a few weeks and it should have a nice covering of sludge by then.

I keep hearing about chicken(turkey?) begining baked with a can of soda or beer jammed up it's bum.

Da ponies arrived yesterday...Yay! Ride 'em cowboys!

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Nah, if ya put a hunk of meat in a can of coke, the coke will eat it in 3-5 days or something like that!

Guess Im gonna start haulingout the haning baskets.. and fill my glad pots have with poo.

Hows these?

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Purdy! I started humping the tarys of mater, peppers and herbs out to the porch this week to start hardening off. They should be ready to go to the GH in another week.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Well, im trying.. just gotta figure out how to pack them for you so they dont get trashed by the PM.

Well the girls said the eggs were up... now the price of eggs here are at $6 per yolk. We hit a dozen in production for the year, cost $72 to feed the 10 hens since the first of the year. The poo on the shell is free today.. the coop needs cleaning if someone wants to work for breakfeast! LOL!

Hows yer birds?

There is a great recipe where you bake a chicken standing up on its tail with a can of pepsi/coke stuck inside it. I haven't done it but know people who have and they say its great. Also you can use a can of beer. Thats how most people do it in Calif.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

girls here are hit and miss but more hit on warm days

I only do the white meat so a whole chicken would be waste here but sounds interesting. We put our beer in our biscuits.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

Not going thar with the beer...like my burd jest plain sauced with BBQ, baked er fried.

Hmmm, mac salad, yeah, that sounds good. Lil raddish, swiss cheese, mayo, eggs, celery. peas

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

Oh no. I just found out them hogs are on OUR side of the busy intersection. That means they're less than 1/2 mile away. I was wondering why they put up barricades alongside of the busy street up there. Guess they were afraid the tracker dogs would run out into the intersection. Neighbor said one of them crossed the street in front of her car the other day. So why did the pig cross the road? How does that one go? That pig roast is getting closer and closer each day. Send us your hound dogs!!!

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

Here we go. I can't handle this. LOL

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

I've still got the pit ready for them hogs. I'm standing by waiting for someone to bring the hog. Love pit roasted pork!!

Have to go up to the corner and try to lasoo and hog tie em. All that talk the other day has given me a serious craving for potato salad.

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

We need tracker dogs Blossom!!! Not squatter dogs. LOL

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

I'll keep the pit ready and hot. Got fresh banana leaves to wrap it in and got the garlic, salt, pepper and some onions waiting.

Watseka, IL(Zone 5a)

You rang? Whars da bacon?

Thumbnail by BLOSSOMBUDDY
Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

Yeah!! I am so dang hungry now. Alright Blossom!! That's what I wanted. Release the hound dog. Sick em sick em.

Got some banana leaves in the back, but its still an itty bitty little dwarf. Marti has the smokin hot pit and spices to make it taste m m good. Blossom has the hound to help catch it. She's even got some onions, but we gots to talk her out of plantin em.

Here piggy piggy piggy. We'll huff and we'll puff and we'll blow your house down. Bring it on you crazy swine. Boy, my medication is really kickin in tonight!

Nah. I've always had a wild imagination and act like a 12 year old at times. I think some of the chia-hair penetrated my brain. That looks like my last dog named "Tiny". Had to put him to rest about 4 years ago. May he rest in peace.
