Pretty iris pic. White blooms always strike me as very elegant. Yours is no exception IrisMa.
Such a nice shade of color on that hydrangea, I think you got more than your money's worth there onewish.
Anemone are always on my need to get list. Yours looks very happy JoAnn.
So in keeping with the white theme that seems to have developed today I will add a plant I did not buy, plant or expect to see at all. Indian Pipe or Ghost plant. It just happens.
Countdown to spring! One Photo per Day Part 12
The Sylvestries spreads like mad if not deadheaded.
ngam
how incredible is that to have them just show up in your garden..... man wish I had a garden they would like to visit.
great shots everyone.
Janet
funky!!
Fun when Indian Pipe just shows up. I think we have had them appear only once. Need a woodsy setting.
ooohh I like that!!
It's really nice. Lots of shades and colors. Unfortunately, it's on the arch that fell. One major branch broke, but the rest seeks okay. I want to pair some clems with it.
bummer
What color clems, Victor, would you mix with the honeysuckle---white? light pink? Jo, I've been meaning to get some of the anemone for my shade garden...I'd love it to spread there.
I'll dig some for you when you come this year.Remind me.
White, light pink, darker pink and burgundy would all pair nicely.
Iris reticulata an inch high and little species tulips poking thru and I pulled a few weeds where the snow had melted from the sun bouncing off the South side of the house. And I had my morning coffee in the chair outside in the sun, at least for a short time. Cogitating on whether to start trimming the roses even though the blasted rabbits have already started the job.---------------------------Weedy
I should prune our 2 Eng. roses. Just raked a small bed. 2 peony noses poking through--used enough energy so roses will wait for another day.
I missed out on a lot during the past several days. Was busy with work and too tired to check in here. Nice pics, everyone. I did a lot of cleaning out of beds today. Will get more done tomorrow. Part of the back gardens are still covered in snow, but there's lots that aren't. I could do burning tomorrow, too.
Patti, I especially love your collage of the hot orange DL's. The only one of them that I have is Carpenter Shavings. They're all very nice ones.
I was thinking with so many deer on Nantucket, maybe they should think of sterilizing them. I know other areas have done it. I'm not sure how it's done, exactly. They somehow give them females some form of birth control, like in feed they put out or something.
Allison, good idea on pinching the balloons. Works well with mums and asters, too.
Weedy, that is a gorgeous Catherine Woodbery seedling.
Pat, the double names don't bother me. They do it that way cause a hybridizing will come out with a line plants that they want to keep altogether, then they want to have an individual name for each one as well. Like the echinacea series called Big Sky, of which they have Big Sky 'Sunset', Big Sky 'Sunrise', etc.
I love all the lilies and sea hollies posted. I do not have any sea hollies. Will have to remedy that situation.
Karen
Stargazer lilies
pretty!!!
Nice picks everyone.
Deer sterilization sounds teriffic.
How about a liquid topical in pellets, shot from a splat gun.
it's one of those plants.. either you love it ... or you don't
the red ones I have I grew from seed... that yellow one I bought
http://www.highcountrygardens.com/catalog/product/82030/
How does it behave?
Is it a spreader?
I planted it in 2007 and it wasn't much bigger than the photo... I did leave the seed heads on it though in hopes it would grow more
should add in the past when I grew the red ones from seed.. I always used them as annuals.. they look nice in the containers.. and don't hog up too much room... those heads do produce tons of seed.. so if allowed to spread they might go nuts.. but not sure
cross posted
Mine were huge and I had to hold them back with garden fencing.
hope my patch looks like that someday!!
I bought plants last year from Bluestone. two were dark one was yellow.
I like Bee's Jub
Bee's Jub is great, usually they're the first of my clems to flower in my yard! Very tough and hardy too.
Which sedum, Victor?
I'll check, Lucy.
Ngam, Loving those Indian Pipes!
Victor, Had to look it up. Honeysuckle Serotina and what did I find but even more tempting photo's of it by you. Nice.
WC2 That Bee's Jub is lovely.
Here is Helianthus microcephalus Lemon Queen with Lespedeza thunbergii Gibraltar. Lemon Queen is taking over the world, but it is manageable.
Patti,
Your no name pink flower with variegated foliage - could it be jacob's ladder?
Very pretty, Patti.
SongofJoy, Nice to see you on here. It was id as Silene dioica Clifford Moor by Ngam. I think that for sure is correct.
Thanks Victor. I planted a white one, but it hasn't done much yet. Patti
I like Lemon Queen. Have it too.
