Should my oxalis be flowering?

Hiawatha, IA(Zone 5a)

I'm new to gardening in general so forgive me if this is a ridiculous question.

I have a green shamrock and a purple one. I've had my green one for years and it flowers vigorously every other month or so. My purple one, I bought last August at a farmer's market and at that time, it had flowers. After having it for about a month I repotted him in a more decorative pot and it unfortunately stressed the plant pretty badly but it eventually recovered, kinda. As you can see from the picture, it's not bushy anymore but rather, it lays down. Even all the new growth eventually lays down. Is that a sign of something wrong? And my biggest question, why hasn't it flowered again?

Does it have a specific flowering season unlike my green one or should I be worried about this plant?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I move mine outside in the summer and they both flower their little shamrocks off. The laying down may just be moving towards the light.

I have the purple one.I have had it a couple of years.Normally I keep it in the kitchen. There is a small shelf beside the window,I keep it on.This plant loves light. So much in fact that all the foilage grows towards the window.I actually had to put a weight on the opposite side of the pot to keep it from falling over.Your plant looks like it is starving for light to me.My plant always looks bad in the winter.I have read on other threads that this plant likes dormancy. Some people even put it in the fridge.I have never done that. However, the plant was really looking bad about a month ago.I removed all the foilage, repotted with new potting soil with some slow release fertilizer.I put it in the basement under florescent lighting. It is regrowing now with the foilage straight up.I noticed one flower stalk today.Mine usually flowers fom spring through summer. It will flower real heavy. Then the flowers seem to fade. Then all of a sudden it takes off again.I have never put it outside before.Edge

I've had this guy at several different places in the house since I got him and where he is now seems to make him the happiest. But I would really like for him to sit up more and really like full like my green one. I know it's possible because when I repotted him, I gave a little to my brother-in-law and his is just as perky as it can be.

Hopefully come spring, when he goes outside, he'll spruce back up. I just hate seeing him look so limp.

In my opinion you should definitely move your Shamrock to or closer to a window. Then turn it as soon as you see it leaning towards the window. Maybe watering could be factor too. I had mine in a little pot like yours and every other day or every 3 days it was flopping over. If the lighting and water aren't ideal it probably would take longer to flower if it does at all. Try those and see how the appearence changes and hoping soon it will flower! :)

I have never seen such a sad looking oxalis! I have one- I've been growing it since 2002 and I've repotted several times, and have gotten numerous corms each time. It will look sad in winter, or when it's time to repot. I think your pot is too small and it's drying out too fast. I recommend upsizing and then finding a sunny spot. Mine gets morning sun- it loves it! It also blooms year round.

i have had mine for a long time as well and gets the afternoon sun and just loves it.its in my sewing room with other ho
use plants.so light and water and a bigger container should be what yours is wanting.

Mine look a lot worse than that, smallish, pale leaves. I just got them out of dormancy, and plan to repot soon, as they are crowded. Oh well. When I get them outside, they will look beautiful and bloom profusely. I can hardly wait.

I agree with the purple needing a lot of light to flower. I have a pot full I moved from the shade into full sunlight, and they are thriving. My green ones seem to bloom better in shade.

I moved my oxalis and he looks.... better! I moved him to a sunnier spot and after a few weeks he's totally spruced up. I have hopes that he'll flower sometime soon.
