HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LK I read on Wikipedia.org that they travel up to a mile away from their water source, this thing was 50ft away so we're really going to have to be careful. There's the stream across the street and there's also one at the bottom of the hill behind the house, so I'm sure we have them on the property. We're going to have to get some moth balls!

So I'm leaving the house this morning and couldn't really see much of anything in focus, and was blaming my contacts, but thought they would clear up in a few minutes. So I'm driving up the road and there was a small something running up the road trying to get away from my car, but I couldn't tell what it was until I got up close to it, it was a rabbit. I was thinking, "What in the world are wrong with these contacts??" Then I remembered, I didn't put them in!!! So a u turn on a 1 1/2 lane wide road I did, back to the house, Dave said, "What did you forget that made you turn around and come back?" I laughed and told him what happened, told him that I'm forgetting the contacts and put my glasses on, then remembered my lunch that I had also forgotten, and back up the road I went, this time I could see! LOL

One of Dave's childhood friends passed away last Saturday and the viewing was last night between 6 - 8, and the funeral is today at 1pm, and really didn't want to go to the funeral because of my loss of time off and I have way too much to do with my dad coming down next Wednesday for a few days. I had forgotten that if I go to the funeral today I'm going to have to find someone to cover the phones from 4:30 to 5:00, so at 4pm yesterday I called Dave and asked him what he wanted to do, he said that he thought it would be easier if we went to the viewing last night and not the funeral today at 1 (odd for someone who doesn't like to look at caskets or the person inside it.) So we did that and we were both so glad we did! He did look in the casket and they have his friend, Jeff, all decked out with his hatchet, other miscellaneous tools, and a can of Mountain Dew. Our favorite Cousin Alice came up from Eastern Texas, his friend's sisters were there and Dave hadn't seen them in 30 some odd years, of course Aunt Eller was there, we really had a great time, it was almost like an old friends reunion. I told Dave that since I had only known his friend for a few years I wanted to look at the pictures, so we did (he usually doesn't do that either,) and he got to reminiscing. I cannot believe how much weight he lost in 3 weeks, and Dave told me on the way home that when he visited Jeff at his house right when he was diagnosed that he was unable to keep anything down, along with his breathing issues, and said it was throughout his whole body, the drs told Jeff that it was too late for chemo. Cousin Alice said that he was very peaceful when he passed away.

Crissy, glad to hear you went to the viewing. I can just see him now, laying there with hatchet in one hand Mountain Dew in the other! Sorry, kinda makes one giggle! Sounds like he is leaving this world happy!
Please be careful with those sneaky snakes!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

That group of people would do that, anything goes! I thought it was neat and wish we could have done that with my grandfather but my mom was soooooo afraid of someone stealing the stuff.

Sneaky snakes, sneaky snakes, I can't remember the rest of the song! LOL

SNEAKY SNAKE
Words and music by Tom T. Hall

Boys and girls take warning
If you go near the lake
keep your eyes wide open
And look for Sneaky Snake
Now maybe you won't see him
And maybe you won't hear
But he'll sneak up behind you
And drink all of your Root Beer.

CHORUS:
And then Sneaky Snake goes dancin'
wigglin' and a hissin'
Sneaky Snake goes dancin'
gigglin' and a kissin'
I dont like old Sneaky Snake,
He laughs too much, you see
When he goes wiggin' thru the grass
It tickles his under- neath.

Well, Sneaky Snake drinks Root Beer and he just makes me sick
When he is not dancin', he looks just like a stick
Now he doesn't have any arms or legs, you cannot see his ears
And while we are not lookin', he's stealin' all of our beer.

Linda K. cute need a chuckle.. have great day.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Happy St.Pat's day!
I think Synda sent an email of an Alabama funeral, where the deceased was laid in his favorite recliner with remote control on his side, watching his favorite Steeler's game!!
That was an awesome way to be sent off!!!

Crissy, it's sad to us that the only way we get to see family nowadays will either be at a wedding or a funeral. Lately it has been more of the latter.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hit send before I could finish!!
Duuuh!!

Corned beef and cabbage!!! I want some Twyla!!!

Susan, will you be doing something Irish today?

LK, I've never heard that song!! It ain't touching my diet A&W root beer!

Go to this youtube link, and you can hear the song! it was very popular back in the 70's.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

my English side of the family (my father) is Singleton, and apparently some of them went to Ireland. They then became "Shingleton" and I can only presume it was the whiskey that slurred the name LOL

I'm wearing green, green, green today lol Green pants, suit jacket and top, with 2 pair of
Not doing anything Irish today, except for the clothing ^_^

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LK I haven't heard that song in soooooooo many years!! Thanks for the lyrics!!! I used to LOVE that song in the '70's, I also really liked "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo." It's weird how things from your childhood stick in your brain.

Ick, I don't like corned beef or cooked cabbage, and either does Dave, so we're having shrimp and veggies for dinner tonight!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I bought a huge head of cauliflower yesterday, and I'll eat it raw, with ranch dressing. MMMMMM, good!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

It all sounds good, but please don't color the shrimp?

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Corn beef is in the slow cooker, almost time to put in the cabbage. So full of sodium so good thing I only do this for St. Paddy's Day. My dad was Irish and mother Geman, what a combination. I put carrots, onion and potato in with the corn beef to begin with then it says to add the cabbage 3 hours later. This meal won't last too long around here.

What a nice day again, it was actually hot yesterday, but supposed to be cooling down. My brugs aren't too happy, the bugs are sarting to make lots of holes in the leaves. Rose bushes were full of aphids so I sprayed them really good, now if I would just get rid of the weeds.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Pegi, bugs are not good, spray those bad things really good!

Corned beef and cabbage sounds real good! What time did you say dinner was ready?

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Corn beef and cabbage should be ready around 6:00 PM, glad I didn't procrastinate about getting it started or we would be back eating ground beef tonight.

OK, time to put in the cabbage then I better start spraying my brugs. Darn stray cats have been using my raised bed for a litter box. Have to spray out there to keep them away.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I walked outside this afternoon and started pulling out weeds from my lily beds for only 5 minutes, cause the winds were brutal!!

Enjoy your corned beef, Twyla and Pegi.

We're off for the evening. Kel had to pick up a load and dinner will probably be at Casa O' Jose's!!

See you all later!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Afternoon all!
Either some of you are fully occupied on FB or in the other building!

It's rest day for me today. Body's in total fatigue and I don't want a relapse.
Grilled chicken breasts for lunch with a side dish of steamed cabbage.
Let's start to eat healthy, but will not sacrifice the bacon!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I'm here Jaye, just busy with the kids!
Lunch sounds really good! Get plenty of rest!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I'm here too.But hardly anyone chats here anymore

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Cindy, how is it going with your new friend?

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Very well ^_^ . I will be going to his place Saturday and staying until Tuesday

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my, Have a great week-end! Your not moving in yet are you?

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

oh no, lol although he wants me too. his house has 3 bedrooms and he said that we can turn one into a craft room.
he said that whenever i'm ready to move in he will be waiting.

i told him it will be a long time before i move in

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Take your time, and get to know him, but so far, sounds like he is the one!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yep, I do believe he is. He hates it when I am not there. We are finding out that we like and dislike alot of the same things. We both love riding rollercoasters, hate snakes, like trying new recipes (He's a sous chef very well known in Vegas) love being outside and riding the motorcycle. He told me he is falling in love with me ^_^.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh Cindy.. he's falling hard for you. I hope with BOTH eyes open, for your sake!!!
Adults still go through infatuations, and I pray he's the one for you and holds true to his claims.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good night everyone!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Night Jaye, you and Kel get a good nights sleep!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
