This is one of my prize Brugs, Blooming a triple Bloom after sooo many doubles, I was amazed at it
Elizabeth
Angels Exotic Blooming a triple
Oh my, another "angel's one"! Drool, drool, slober, slober.lol Elizabeth, that is one of the ones that I traded Mike for last fall, and lost.It is beautiful!
Dee
Dee
you wouldn't believe, I have it behind my furnace, too go dormant, it never has, it's getting all kinds of leaves on it & it's not that light back there, I think they know when it's time too wake up better than we do, wouldn't it be great, that triple Blooming as dark as Superspot, I will be looking for the Angels series, I think I have a lot of them already, I am going to try for seedpods this year, the last few years I have just enjoyed the Blooms, not realizing the possibilites of crossing
now that's what I want too do
Elizabeth
I'm tellin' ya girl, eveyone of those "angel's"ones are beautiful!
Dee
Dee
those are one's you don't see on ebay, this year is going to be sooo exciting, I am redoing my yard just in case the spinx moth's do come around too pollenate, I will have the colors together, have you ever seen the spinx, it's as big as a humming bird, I saw one year before last, I thought humming birds aren't out at night, I ran too get my camera, it was gone, you can goggle it, it's beautifully colored
Elizabeth
Yes, I have seen them before Elizabeth. When I lived in the country, I used to get them quite often, and yes, they do remind me of hummers. That's a great idea, putting them together.
Dee
Dee
that would've been a great Pic to get one in flight, hopefully this year they'll be back, I'll be ready with my camera, I don't remember what month it was that it was here, I think it was in july, it was hot out even in the evening
Elizabeth
I know I had a pic of one, that I took. I will look in my old pics in the morning. If I can find it, I will post it. I don't remember when they came either.
Dee
Dee
that would be great, I would love to see it, the markings are beautiful, I wish I did live in the country on about 5 acres
I would have every kind of flower bed, with a big area for the Brugs & a big area for vegtables, when my girls were
small I grew fresh vegtables, they would pick them & eat them right of the vine, I never had any to freeze of can
Elizabeth
Elizabeth, one year when the girls were little we had a couple pigs, and the garden was just across the yard from the pig pen. even time we went to garden, the pigs would come a running to the edge of the pen and just squeel(misp?)., because they always got the rotten veggies and melons. It was so much fun, and those pork chops and hams were soo good...
Dee
Dee
I do know what you're talking about there, my BF's son was in 4-H, they had fresh pork, she gave me some of the sausage, it was sooo lean, I made gravy with it, it was the best ever, not like what you buy frozen, oh to be on a farm
all the work you have to do is worth it
Elizabeth
Yes, fresh sausage is wonderful!
Dee
Good Morning, Raining here this mornig, but that's o.k. the snow is melting away too.
Just think, A poor little pig gave it's life up so you could have sasausage.....lol
My Daddy loved to raise pigs for meat.
Charleen
OH WOW here I go again, Elizabeth that is breath taking, and PINK too *S*
Doris
Elizabeth, I forgot to mention the Beautiful bloom after I saw you discussing the sausage.
It is so Beautiful. You have a happy Basment. I bet it smells great too , doesn't it?
Charleen
Good Morning Doris.
Good morning Charleen *S*
Doris,I hope you are stocked up and don't need to go out for anything. We got more snow than predicted, and it is still snowing here.We were right on the border for predictions of 1-3 and 3-5 inches and we are leaning more toward the 3-5 range. I know that you got a lot more than us...Stay safe
Charleen, are you still looking for lion's tail seeds?Yes, the pork was wonderful, and if I ever live in the country again, I'm gonna raise a couple more..Hubby and I have already talked about it..lol.Think I would name them porkchop and hambone..lol
Dee
Dee, do you ever just plant the Brugs in the ground with new Roots and do they make it?
Wonder should I go ahead and put them in the soil? Huh?? Elizabeth?
That Species is tall enough I could get another cutting from it.
Charleen
Wow!!! We had rain this am. but sun is out now. I bet the rain washed away the snow. It rained hardenough, but the temp is dropping. Was 37 earlier and now, it's 34. don't like that. Be glad when it is all melted away.
But Doris, Snow does make for a pretty picture, doesn't it?
Charleen
Charleen, yes, I just planted some in soil, a couple weeks ago, that had been in water. Two of them had good water roots. So far, so good for mine. But, girl, you know that I'm new to this and stumbling thru, learning as I go. Isn't that the purpose of putting them in the water,tho.... putting them there to start rooting, while waiting to plant. I would just make sure not to give them too much water, after planting in soil. You know as much, if not more about growing these buggers, as I do...lol Maybe one of the old timers will come along with a better answer..lol
Charleen its not going to be warm enough to get cutting here for at least a month to a month and a half, so what ever you think is best with the species cutting.I am fighting aphids hot and heavy right now, every time I turn around, I am either spraying them or hosing them down the drain....grrr!
Yes, the snow is beautiful, but enough is enough, isn't it girls. It is still snowing here, too Doris.
Dee
Good afternoon to all
Charlene
it's alright to plant them in soil once they have roots, just keep an eye on them, Dee is right about not too much water, but also you don't want them to dry out, that's bad for the roots, also light is very important, if you can keep them in a window or under light's, oh that Bloom was from last summer, I have small buds on Frosty Pink, but that's all that Blooming now, in a couple days the Clivia will be Blooming
Elizabeth
Got any more snow yet, Elizabeth?
Dee
Dee
yes, yes & yes, I have too put my big boots on to take the recycle bin & Garbage out, it looks like a Blizzard, but with small snow flakes, the weather man is never right, why did he have too by right about this stuff when we want it gone
my poor cat, she wants too go out sooo bad, but I am afraid, it's just too cold for her, the one thing good I have nice windows in the kitchen, I have a Brug, in there, the leaves look like it does in Summer, so hopefully it will Bloom soon with all that natural light, last year I couldn't use that window
Elizabeth
yeah, darn them weather men! it's like...well, it might snow, and it might not...lol
Elizabeth, I know you love your new windows, and so do the brugs!
If your kitty goes out, she won't be out long.Every time we let the dogs out, they potty and come running right back to the door..lol
Dee
Dee
that Kitty is a nut, she try's to race me when I am in the basement, when I go down to water & take care of the plants, she hides behind the flower pots, to jump out at me, girl it's really coming down now, is it there? now it's bigger flakes
now if the sun would come out & melt it, I hope Doris is getting this
Elizabeth
Dee
I meant I hope Doris isn't getting this, I think she has enough
Elizabeth
Elizabeth, your kitty sounds adorable..soo playful.
Our snow has stopped. I know that Doris was supposed to get alot more than us..Thank goodness she got stocked up before hand. Are you stocked up and ready for it?
Dee
Dee
I am over stocked, my Family went shopping, while I watch my GS, when he stays with me I watch, Alvin & the chipmonks, it's his favorite, now I have to talk them into taking out the garbage, our snow is steady coming down, my GD is home today, because of Presidents Day, the way the snow is she might not have school tommorrow, I don't know how many snow days they have left, Have you stocked up?
Elizabeth
Yes, Elizabeth, we are stocked up and ready. I can not believe that they didn't call off school here this morning. They are usually off for president's day, but they had school today, as one of their make-up days.
My grandsons are into pokemon, big time. I can name a lot of them..lol..I think there are like a gazillion of them..lol
Dee
Dee
it used to be webkinz, I had too share my computer with my GD, I was soo glad when they came out with the DSI, now she plays on that, I bet you can name them, after awhile that stuff sticks with you it's funny every once in awhile you get too watch your movies, hey my DD, took out the recycle bin & the garbage for me yipee
Elizabeth
Yippee, great Elizabeth, you get to stay in for now! When the weather gets like this, I just hibernate...don't go out, unless it can't be avoided.Oh yes, Webkins...they went thru that too.My grandaughter is all about myspace and facebook, now...I don't get it tho...lol Guess she is growing up...she's 12...her mother monitors her closely on the puter, tho..which I am glad.
I remember when the youngest grandson was listening to his sisters ipod and he was singing"don't ya wish your girlfriend was hot like me?''He was around 5years old...I like to never got that song out of my head...lol
Dee
Dee
I am the same way, I hibernate also, my sweet neighbor, says I see you all Summer, but not in the winter, my older GK's are on facebook, I talk to them on there, I also posted my Brugs on there, they said grandma you should get on there, my 2 GD's are in Fla, so I talk to them, 12yrs old is a good age, you know they start on computers in Kindergarden, I am not crazy about myspace, these days you have to monitor them, my DD, does her oldest DD will be 17 this year, she is a good girl, she has worn dresses by choice for the last 7 yrs. she said it wasn't lady like to wear pants, her mother keeps a close eye on both girls
Elizabeth
It is amazing for a little girl to make that decision, and stick with it. I bet you are so proud of all of them.
I was reading Doris' homepage and she has 9 granddaughters...at least I think it is 9...no grandsons. At one time my mother had 15 grand-daughters and 1 grandson, but when the boys started coming they didn't stop..lol
Once it gets above 90, I hibernate too, except for the early mornings...even mow in the early mornings...my husband thinks I'm nuts...lol

Dee
you're smart, to do that, it's the best thing for your lawn, if you mow in the morning, my GD, did that because that's the way her mom dresses, also she has been raised in the church, I would have too worry about her soo much more I look at all those young girls, that are in trouble all the time, I am soooo proud of them, I brought the Clivia up from the basement & put it in the window, so it'll Bloom quicker in the heat, it has a seedpod from the last time it Bloomed, I think you have to let it get completely ripe before you can get seeds, anyway I'll be saving those
Elizabeth
I can't wait to see a pic of your clivia, when it blooms.I bet it will be beautiful. I didn't know you could grow clivia from seed. Wonder how long it will take to bloom. If it takes more than a year, I don't have the patience..lol...and I really hate to wait a year like we have to most perennials. I see where Proven winners have two Iochroma on their list this year. I'm so glad because that means they should be readily available.I want some and I think I read that it may take 3 years for them to bloom from seed.
Dee
By the way, it is snowing..AGAIN
Dee
Oh, and all the schools are closed also many stores
Doris, do you know how many inches you got this time around? They don't have to tell me to stay of the roads either!
Dee
