Today's Weather in Your Garden - 63

Thomaston, CT

Yep---here, too---we have about 21/2" of wet stuff---pretty, but hard to move. Our garbage was picked up, but then I had to truck all the cans back into the garage---full of wet snow----oh, well, that's life. Hope you're better today, Patti-----the snowdrops cheered me!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

coming down here for about an hour now

South Hamilton, MA

Bib flakes of snow, but they are not sticking. If it stays that way will not have to pay for plowing the driveway. Sorry Bill. bur we are east of you so maybe your snow will stick. It was predicted to come in 2 batches this morning, so afternoon may be different. 34°

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Really raining now.

Wha, Still in bed, not feeling so great from my fall. Just sore. Nothing broken, but a perfect day to do nothing except play in the garden, mentally. Hope you get some white stuff so you can ski. I know others don't want any, but you do. Patti

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just back from a Dunkin run. Still snowing lightly. About 2 1/2 inches so far.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I guess that my understand was the 'global warming' was a long-term trend that would be marked in the short-term by more storms and more extreme weather fluctuations. We seem to be having that in Seattle - last year we had what you're going through now. This year we're having balmy temperatures (as exhibited by what the poor Winter Olympians are having to endure) and virtually no winter.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That was the relatively recent 'prediction' - after they changed the term from global warming to 'climate change.' But they have completely covered themselves by saying that whatever we have has been predicted! What a luxury. There are countless videos on the web of pols predicting the end of snow in DC because of warming. Then last week they said all the huge storms they're getting are because of climate change. Sounds more and more like the local weatherman! 'Changeable skies.' 'Unsettled pattern.' 'Partly sunny.' Tough job!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Actually, I have followed this story since the early 80's when it was called 'the greenhouse effect.'

Thomaston, CT

Whatever it is, we are getting a snoot full! About 6" right now & snowing very heavily.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

only just over 3" here - just in from snow blowing to beat my wife coming home from work - hate it when there are tire tracks stuck to the driveway that turn to ice - still coming down hard - there will be skiing tomorrow!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Light wet snow for most of the day here, still snowing, about 4" so far. Plows running on the hour all day to keep up with the stuff for the rush hour tonight...
31°

South Hamilton, MA

I can hear the plows going past outside. Our driveway has been done. We are officially 4-7" but not sure how much will fall.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

33*F here now, clear skies. We only got an 1" or so of dust last night, Thank You Lord. Ice damming on the eaves is still an issue here. There will be a lot of roof damage in the area. My FIL is getting a new roof this year, so next year the boys and I will install a heat tape on it. My upper roof is only 5-6 years old, but will require inspection of the eaves and possible heat tapes. My eaves are extended to help block over head sun in the summer, because of our passive solar, so my potential for icing is somewhat enhanced. Ric

Sunny morning with light NW wind. Temp 27 degrees and should climb to upper 30s. We should get some melting of the 2" of icy crunchy snow from yesterday. Highs getting close or at 40 the next few days should help with deicing things too.
