Poor flamingos!
Jan, so glad that Jeff is okay!
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 63
Randy cleared the deck for the dogs not too long ago... it doesn't even look like he did it at all... he is guessing around 9 inches so far
I'm beginning to wonder if the schools will be closed again tomorrow. Only snowing lightly now.
I think they got in with some wayward Canada geese.
They're talking closing a lot of things here through Saturday. This snow is a fine powder and blows around like smoke. It's not heavy to shovel but having to lift it 4' or so to get it to the top of the pile increases the effort needed to move it. Roadways are barely passable in 4W or AWD, and the news says that the interstates may reopen over night. Ric
Ugh. Hope for the best, Weeze.
Two hour school delay (at least) for tomorrow.
Weeze, Please don't lose power, please don't lose power, etc............
HollyNRic YIKES!
School is canceled for tomorrow. Our lights flickered twice. My step mil's son is without power, they live 1hr north of here.
Lights flickered once but I was adjusting the thermostat so it doesn't count! (lol!)
Presently 29°, wind N 12mph, light snow
- Been going though snow bands all day, (still going though them), shoveled 10" but got another 2" on top of that, figure I'll have another 2" by morning to bring the grand total to ~14". Roads are an ice skating rink!
praying for the best Weeze... and Jen!!!
29 now.. going to 33.. the wind is howling out there.. the dogs were able to walk on the snow that froze overnight.. going to be a fun cleanup.. anything we cleared is all covered over again
Ok guys, you need to start checking in here......let us know your OK!!!
Allison good to see you posting this morning, not to bad in terms of inches??
I know Victors area was expecting at least a foot if not more. Jen & Weeze are getting slammed, along with Pa. ,DC. The news was reporting Maryland has record snowfall amounts, i think they said 72" so far. One lady had been w/out power for 5 days and the dogs water was froze inside her house!!!
I don't love those type of storms, but am used to them and we have way more equipment here than they do to remove such large amounts!! Not to mention, where to put it??
My prayers, hugs ,and wrms wishes to all of you in that storm belt!
yeah I think Jen, Jan & Weeze got it way worse than I did... just hope for the best they still have power.. so hard to tell what we have because of the drifts.. a lot of high and low spots... somewhere around a foot I guess.. more or less???.. it would be something like maryland that makes me happy for the woodstove.. but the pipes would make me panic .. I know in NYC they put the snow in dumpsters & haul it away.. long process for sure..
we can take your great white way title this year.. and give it to Jan
We got about 13", on top of what we got before. However, this time there was lots of rain/sleet mixed in so everything is compacted some and now it's frozen. ICK! We do have power though, for which I'm thankful since mom is on an oxygen machine. I'm trying to keep up with feeding the birds.
Thank goodnees you didn't loose power Jan!!! The snow is bad enough, but the sleet freezing rain mixed in and winds bring those tree's & lines down.
Thanks for the good thoughts. Sounds like Holly N Ric got more than we did.
Gotta go out and liberate some tree and shrub branches today. They are hanging low.
I saw Holly post on co-ops forum so I think they are OK! Lets hope!! ^_^
Dusting only.
Wind from the N at 32 MPH gusting to 43 MPH (37 KT)
Visibility 10 miles
Sky conditions overcast
Temperature 33.1 F
dusting here too
Anyone heard from Venu, didn't sound good on the last post I read. Hate that no power thing too. We had about an hour of blizzard here. High winds all night but snow was only heavy for about an hour and we got between 2-3" in that time and that's it. Little layer of ice underneath everything but we got away okay. Not far away they got dumped on, so there was a big drop off in snow totals. Sun is out strong and bright and I hope will start melting some snow if the temp gets over freezing as predicted. Temp now is 28 degrees and the wind has calmed down to 10mph with a few higher gusts from the NE still.
We had just about what ngam posted, guess we not be too far apart. Drive was plowed when I was still asleep. It is 31' right now.
Yes - about a foot. Schools were two hour delay. This photo problem is annoying. Seems inconsistent.
Very bright out there! Some melting starting. Expecting an avalanche from the solar panels.
Yep Maria you are in the town just south of me. Although you are on the far side of Rehob. which is quite a distance. Starting to see some drips here as well. Wish they would get this pic thing taken care of soon.
30° here. The roads were better this am than yesterday. Hope those mid-atlantic people are ok.

ngam, we are only about five or 6 miles away from RI. When I check the weather it is usually Providence
Now it is sunshine with a few clouds at 32 here on my weather marker and 69 inside
34°, Windchill 21°, wind WNW 17mph, sunny
One of my juniper trees sustained major damage and my canopy for bonsai trees was crushed under weight of snow, (luckily I remove them from there for the winter). Roads are horrible, "iced-over". 18" total when it finally ended. (and the snow truck keeps burying my driveway!!! lol)
Sorry to hear that, WC.
Thanks, it's going to be a bummer clearing out this mess, not to mention the loss of a good part of the tree! lousy storm...
that's too bad wc
Bad enough you have to look out at all that snow and deal with getting about in it, but losing a good part of a tree really stinks. At least the bonsai are safe.
Wow water is pouring off my roof right now. Major melting going on. Temp is 36 degrees but you can feel the sun's warmth a lot now. I did notice it is at the very tips of the tall oaks now as it travels from east to west. Soon it will be high enough in the sky to clear all the branches. Yeah!
We got about 20", I love it sooo pretty. Never lost power.
