Haha Terry, I agree 72 sounds much nicer! Sue, WOW a foot of snow in April, is that typical?

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Terry and I have about the same weather...mine is just about 2 hours ahead of her..warm and windy here today...blowing in a change. I'm hoping for 72 as well.

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

We're up to the mid 80's, a little too toasty for my taste especially when you factor in the humidity. Our night temps range from 63 to 70ish. I find that more to my liking.

I would also like to say a big "Hi" & "Welcome" to TaliaRose. That's a very pretty name, BTW.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

TaliaRose, no, that's not typical for Shasta in April, in Dec-Jan, yes, they had 5 ft in Dec. This was this past Sunday.
So glad to be home to my warm garden!

I'm already sick of the heat - I'd welcome a snow-storm!

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Head out to Celia's in Utah.... she has plenty of snow I'm sure she'd loan you.
Heck she'd probably just GIVE you all you want.... ;-)

Northeast, LA(Zone 8a)

Welcome TaliaRose I hope you will enjoy your work here as much as we enjoy being part of this site.

Hi Everyone!

Thanks again for the warm welcome! I just wanted to give you a quick update...

I'm still conducting my review of the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) along with making sure your concerns are addressed as I discuss some possible options with colleagues. While this process can take some time, I want everyone to know that we see this as a very important issue that deserves our immediate attention and action. Our goal is to maintain a healthy and happy garden where you feel comfortable contributing to and proud to be a part of. So with that said, I will hopefully have another update soon with more details. Thanks and I know it's a little too early to celebrate - but have a GREAT weekend!

Crossville, TN

I would love to go to LA...but me and Southwest Airlines have an agreement....if they don't fly there...then neither do I!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Now if my friend Olivia shows up...tie her to a post until I get there...I don't know what ya'll plan to do while you wait for us...but NO eating...NO swaping...and NO WE...so that leaves sitting around talking...but...NO talking about me!! Jo

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9a)

LOL - Jo you crack me up! I'll make sure I pack some rope just for Olivia.

Cochise, AZ(Zone 8b)

Jo, I advise against taking the scenic wildflower route! Wish I could be there!

Crossville, TN

That is UNBELIEVABLE! Thanks for posting a photo!

Happy Earth Day all!

I hope everyone is enjoying the Spring weather! The weather in Los Angeles is pretty gloomy and rainy. I won’t get down on the rain though – it is doing wonders for my lawn and my utilities bill.

I wanted to give you an update on our review of the Acceptable Use Policy aka “AUP”.

Websites typically have two major site documents: Terms of Use and Rules. This is a standard way for sites to explain their services, intentions and policies upfront. We’d like to do the same with Dave’s Garden. Here’s a quick run through of each document’s purpose.

- Terms of Use: Legal document that explains how the site can and can’t be used. This is the document that that is the most similar to the current AUP and will address the concerns that everyone has been discussing.
- Rules: Basic site rules about behavior and conduct. These should be basic, self evident and for the most part easy to read. Basically we don’t let the lawyers anywhere near them.

In these documents we will spell out that in no way will we allow any individual, company, or ourselves to claim commercial ownership or copyright ownership over your contributions, photography, and other content you provide. You are the owner of the images and information you contribute. Period.

We respect the reasons why you contribute. It’s inspiring that a group of people from all over can get together to document the wonders of the world around us. As a nature-lover, I can personally appreciate the importance of our community resources thanks to your continued contributions.

In these documents we will also spell out that we’ll be using community resources like member content to grow our community and educate others.

We aren’t claiming ownership and we won’t sell your content (or allow your content to be sold) to others on the web. Our goal is to make sure we have the ability to use our resources to sustain the entire Dave’s Garden community, while growing more public interest in the work of our incredible community members, individually and as a whole.

We are working on the documents now, and I’ll be it touch with you first, to let you know where you can review rough drafts of these documents before we make any changes to the existing AUP.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Best,
Talia

Thanks, Talia! It sounds like you're making progress on this issue, and it also sounds like we'll appreciate the outcome.

Will the new AUP apply also to content/photos contributed *before* IB purchased DG (when the old, less satisfactory wording was in effect)?

Yes, all contributed content, like photos and entries, will be treated the same regardless of when they were added to the site.

This is great news. Thank you for all your efforts TaliaRose. I'm very happy to hear this and I'm looking forward to being able to continue contributing to this site.

And I'm in Disneyland! Well, actually in my hotel room this morning, tired, achy feet after 2 full days in the park, gearing up (slowly) for round/day 3. Tomorrow I plan on a Huntington Gardens visit, if my feet will hold up!

"You're" welcome.
