Final update regarding Dave of Dave's Garden

Can't add any more gracious words than what's already been said....I thoroughly enjoyed my experience on Dave's Garden with you at the helm. The enrichment to my gardening experience has been tremendous! Prayers for the best for you and Trish for your future, your family, your farm and all endeavors in and out of the garden!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Thankyou Dave and Trish. You have left the gardeners of the world a lasting legacy. A vast information resource for new gardeners ,seasoned veterans and all in between. The most important thing however is a site that someone in Maine can talk to someone in southern California about the passion for making things grow. No one is a lonely gardener that comes to Dave's Garden. And it will always be Dave's to me and everyone else I'm sure. Thanks much!

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Dave and Trish and whole crew. thankyou so very much for all the years of gardening and other pleasure that you gave us. I have been with you almost from the beginning. Sorry to see how it all went. Best wishes to you all.

Good luck Dave and Trish in your new endeavor. Thank you so much for all that you have done for us.
Dave, I am truly sorry that they would not work things out so you could keep helping us as before.

I have immensely enjoyed my time (usually middle of the night) on Daves Garden. It has been so helpful, and easy to navigate, that I have stopped most of my garden magazines.
Now off to look for your new and very interesting sounding site.........

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

Dave, Trish and the rest of the gang,
There is so much about this site that words could never say. It has been a thrill of a life time for me to be a part of it. I like alot of others, never thought I would ever pay to be a part of something but with what I have learned on here and the Dear friends I have made was worth every penny spent. I was at a place where when it came time for my renewal I didn't have the money to do it with and somehow and someone did it for me, so that to me was a mind blower. Where else could you find people like this? Nowhere but on DG. I will remain here as long as it keeps the integrity that it has had in the past.
To Dave and Trish I salute you for the great moments I have had here.

Camden, AR(Zone 8a)

Well, like so many here, I can't begin to fully express what DG has meant to me the past year and a half. I stumbled upon DG by a google search for a particular plant, and found a HOME filled with wonderful friends. I have never had anyone on here be the least bit rude or disrespectful, always considerate, loving, and helpful. I have many friends on here that feel like family - some have been met in person at Roundups, and some I may never see in person, but feel like I have "known" for years. I have cried tears for people who passed away that I have never even "met" except for on the pages of this website, but my heart ached with their passing as if they lived next door. I have felt the presence of prayer warriors as they lifted my family and myself up in times of crisis, and have fallen to my knees to do the same for them. My flower beds are quickly filling up with beautiful flowers from DG friends and I can't help but think of them when I see the lovely blooms.

If you had told me 2 yrs ago, that I would have a community of "friends" scattered around the US and world, I would have thought that it would have been impossible. But, thanks to DG, it has been a wonderful adventure ....

Best of luck to both of you. I hope that you are able to continue your presence here.

If it weren't for DG, Howie and I probably never would have met Justmelisa and her family in Louisiana, let alone stayed with them twice. We wouldn't have met any number of terrific DG members who stopped by our town while traveling. We almost certainly would not have met Dea and her family or my husband been blessed by the skilled surgeon at Johns Hopkins who Dea encouraged us to contact. And all the wonderful people we've broken bread with at the various roundups are great folks.

There is no stronger a bunch of nurturing, good people than there is here. DG's been more than a reference or entertainment through the years, it's been a lifeline. Dave built the foundation; he and the admins made this community what it is today, keeping order during rough times. We've all been at sites where the golden rule is not practiced or enforced, and I know we all hope DG will never be allowed to degenerate into that kind of atmosphere.

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

I wish that I could write what's in my heart, but others have said it so much better anyway.

Take care, Dave and Trish, We all love you.

Thank you so much Dave and Trish!

Wishing you both smooth sailing into your next adventure. You will never know how much this site has meant to some of us. We will always remember and thank you for your work. Lou

Thank you Dave and Trish for all you've created. The friendships made here will last a lifetime.

I don't know how I could have made it though my mom's death without all the love and support shown by members here. This site meant so much to her, and the friends she made here have helped and held me up when I thought I couldn't make it through. I will be forever grateful to you for this community you created.

Thanks Dave and all the administrators and moderators for such a wonderful site. I am mostly a lurker, but wanted to express how the site was always to warm and welcoming with you at the forefront. I hope that the shock and disappointment that some have felt at losing you as the leader will ease and people will go back to their more welcoming and friendly manner (it has been disappointing to read the fear and resentment in some of the postings). I hope that the site can be the Daves Garden you nurtured once again, and will remain here as long as it is welcoming and educational. I will also be following your new venture and trying to keep up with all the changes there. Thanks for two great gifts!

Camdenton, MO(Zone 6a)

Thank you, Dave and Trish!

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Thanks for creating this site that not only answers all my gardening questions, and allows me to answer others', but also renews my faith in humanity every day!

Spring, TX

I'm usually a "reader" rather than a "poster". Finding this website was like finding a gardener's goldmine, and although I can't say I'm a successful gardener, I always find inspiration and ideas here, and have developed a new enthusiasm for spending time in the great outdoors trying to make my small part of it more attractive and productive.

It's been so sad to read what's been going on, and to know that Dave's Garden won't have its "Dave" any longer. Thank you so much for creating a great site and a great community, and best of luck to both of you!

Hamilton, OH

Thank you Dave & Trish
it's been such a pleasure knowing you, may all the best come your way

Big Hugs

Heartfelt thanks to you, Dave and Trish, as well as your excellent team, for this community. The friendships and bonds formed here, not to mention the information gained, will be a tribute to your imagination, talent and hard work long, long into the future .
Only the best to you as you go forward.

:( that made me cry............hugs Dave and Trish but as you already know you haven't quite gotten rid of me yet.

I don't post much on here anymore but I just have to post this time.

Thank you Dave and Trish for everything that you have given us here. You've created a community that is so special and is cherished by thousands.

I'm sorry for the way things have turned out. I wish there was something that I could have done to make my voice heard. But I have no doubt that your new venture will be at least as successful as DG. After seeing what you've done here, I have 100% confidence in you and Trish. You really know what it takes to make a community come together.

Thanks for everything and the very best of luck on your new venture!

Murphysboro, IL(Zone 6b)

Thanks so much for everything you've done in creating this wonderful community & amazing resource! I've learned so much here, and I hope that that will continue into the future. Best wishes in your future endeavors!

I'm so upset about this. Thank you Dave and Trish. You created a wonderful place for people to learn and "grow" in all areas of our lives. I look forward to hearing about your new project.

I have to post this. Before, I was trying to be cheery and upbeat while others were having broken hearts and funeral marches. I figured let the dust settle first before crying "Wolf"; I was hoping for the best but I've been through business sales before.

Well, now I'm crying but it ain't "Wolf".

I know, I know...change is part of life.

I've already posted here once but again:

Multiplied Blessing on Dave and Trish and the DG gang. I hope things go very well for you.

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

I am so behind. I wasn't aware anything was happening til someone else informed me. I was fearful when you sold a few years ago that things would change. DG has been a great site, but because of you. I wonder if it can possibly remain the same. It will be interesting to see. It kinda feels dead just knowing our strong supports are not in charge anymore.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Hey - Terry and Mel are pretty darn strong! Sorry, just feel I gotta stick up for them.

Dandridge, TN(Zone 6a)

I can't compete with the eloquence of the posts above, but I wanted to say Good Luck and best wishes in your new endeavor, Dave.
thanks for everything!

Buffalo, WV(Zone 7a)

I haven't read the previous messages so forgive if I repeat something from above.

Tears here, can't help it. I've been with DG since the year of it's birth first as Lana then wvdaisy. It's been a heck of a journey. DG has always been touted by me as "the best gardening community on the web" and it's certainly been the truth. I've learned so so much and made so many wonderful friends. My husband always says, as do I, that our gardens wouldn't be what they are if it wasn't for DG.
We'll see if that continues under new ownership without Dave guiding the rudder. I'll stay with DG for now to see how they get along but will leave if they lose the "flavor" of Dave's that has always made it such a special place.

Meanwhile, I'm signed up at the new place and it certainly is interesting and different. Ready for a new journey Dave and Trish. Let's go!

Everyone has said everything that I feel. If it hadn't been for this site I wouldn't have gotten back into all the things I loved. My gardening knowledge has increased and all questions were answered by wonderful friends. I said before,"I will follow you, wherever you may go" so will be seeing you Dave & Trish on your new joruney.

Santa Cruz, CA(Zone 9b)

I'm very sad it would really cheer me up?

I need to sit back a while and let this all sink in .

Dave and Trish, thanks so much for providing me with a gardening home since 2001.
It has been an honor to share time with you and the rest of the staff.
You both will be missed in ways too many to count. I am grateful that there will be familiar folks still working around here, but the loss is so keenly felt.
When all is said and done....just look at the family that you have created..who generally get along, can chat on inumerable subjects and are there in joy, pain and to help each other. I look forward to seeing you post (as often as you have time) with all that is happening around you.
My eternal thanks.

Tears here too - I still can't believe it's true - but I still have many fond memories of all the good times and friends I have made here. I will never forget the fun we all had at the very first Round-up in Crossville, Tn in 2002. 73 members and spouses gathered and had the pleasure of meeting Dave & Trish and even Granny Lois, Dave's mom, Terry, & Melody. I am still friends with several from that first meeting, it's just like a family reunion when I see so many of them still posting here.

Thanks for all those memories Dave & Trish - I have told many people that I have learned a lot more on DG that I did in the Master Gardeners class.

Best wishes always,

PJ

Dave and Trish--It's all been said, so I'll just say a simple thank you. By the way, Dave, did you ever find those Winsall tomato seeds? If not and if you'd like me to send more, just shoot me a dmail. Blessings--Larry

P. S. I'd love to have a link to your new site!

Sioux City, IA(Zone 4b)

For any business person using e-commerce - copyrighting domain names ect. is VERY important. Even searching domain names to see if someone else already has it is a big no no in the website creation business unless you are ready to own it. Those domain name searches show up on lists and other folks can grab them up. The fact that Dave owns one or more domain names shows insightfulness on his part.

Edited to say that this refers to a post that HAS been removed, and not LarryR!
